Osprey Fight turns into Kayak Ride!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- I was out fishing when I saw to Ospreys locked in a death spiral fall into the middle of the bay. I went in to see if they were hurt. When I got closer I could see they were still stuck to each other.
I was able to get them separated. One took off immediately but the other was too tired to take off. After several attempts I could see he needed some help.
With a little bit of coaxing he jumped onto the back of my kayak and I gave him a ride to some mangroves that were a few hundred yards away.

“I’m going to be upset if y’all are stuck on purpose!”
Had me cracking up
Ya ha😂ha id be mad too
The way they looked at him when he said that was like yeah we did this on purpose
Well actually they were stuck on purpose, its like a ritual they do
Same! 😅😂😂
Same here man 😂
It’s reflexive, they can’t let go. When an osprey grabs a fish that’s too big, it can weigh them down in the water, they can’t rise up and they might drown for the same reason.
Oh that’s fascinating. Thanks for sharing that info!
Their talons actual work on a rachett system. Once they're locked around something they stay locked & will even automatically tighten if whatever they have a grip on is struggling, this means they don't have to 'think' about holding on, but to unlock them it takes a concentrated effort. Sometimes younger birds don't quite have the release feature perfected, specially if they have something else on their minds 🤭.
this is mating behaviour
@@DiddyfloofandMischief Was going to post this, yup its just a biomechanical feature birds prey have evolved.
This is a lie. This is how raptors mate. Google sky dancing and don't listen to people making shit up on the internet. This guy is not qualified to be out on a kayak
Ozzy immediately went back to find his nemesis and continued the fight
😂😅😂
They were mating
yea "fight"😂😂😂
@@reed3330they are definitely both male. And that one that got its ass kicked guaranteed went back for round two because animals do that dumb shit
He was real tired from all that "fighting"
You handled it amazing. They must’ve been really tired to be that chill
They were doing the nasty
@@meganm3270 no lmao they were fighting they mate on land like most birds
They definitely found each other again later that day
LOL, probably...
That's how they mate bro. Except they're supposed to let go before crashing lol
Pretty cool experience. Well done
That was two males I'm pretty sure @@stephenhurd1489
@@stephenhurd1489that's actually eagles, osprey don't do that.
Bless you my guy, i come from south eastern new brunswick. A decade or sp back we wree fighting to keep these guys alive today they are doing freat and people like you are definetly helping.
@@BenjoCovers get off the drugs kid
"Don't look at me like that" turned into relatives already.
My thought when he said "2 Ospreys locked in a death spiral," was "What kind of pilot gets a VTOL into a death spiral?!"
Maybe I need to go outside and look around more...
-I thought the same thing until, I realized we name a lot of aircraft after actual flying animals and birds.
as a mixed native from a military family on the white side this made me laugh out loud so much 😆I think it is wild how they name killing polluting machines after such magestic creatures... yet we think we are so superior it is all wacky to me 🤪
lol, thought that at the start too
@@JessicaPradoHanson I’m going to blow your mind here. They name planes after birds, because get this, both of them fly. Crazy isn’t it? That’s why we sometimes, bear with me here, call planes “birds.” Because… you know… they fly.
Sounds unbelievable I know, but you can look it up, it’s true!
🙄
Edit: Plus the shape of a birds wing influenced the wings we see on modern aircraft. Every site out there can tell you that. Humans, cognitively, are superior to the animal kingdom, but that doesn’t mean the animal kingdom doesn’t have stuff to teach us. But let’s not pretend any of them have an advantage against us. Majesty didn’t protect bald eagles from near extinction due to pesticides.
Doing what Ospreys do.... crash.
Men saving animals in open water is one of my favorite algorithmic repeats.
that wasn't saving an animal, that was coitus interrupts!! he ruined their making session, the tired one must've been the male 😂
@@Steveqldoh shiiit! Is that how they f**k? 😂
You should prob look up what a death spiral is. 😂
Wrong ! That’s how they breed !!! Leave nature ALONE !!
@@MarkSmith-qk2rlthey’re supposed to let go before they hit the ground. The talons got stuck in each other. These birds would be dead if he didn’t intervene since the male was too tired to swim away
He looked at you like “man you couldn’t have dropped me off at the front atleast? Aight” 😂😂😂
The “ he started it” face had me cracking up
Ikr, the way that both of the ospreys were looking at him when he paddled up to them 😂
I love how birds are some of the few animals smart enough to realize that humans usually are friends and dont panic when a human comes close
Bro what lol
99.99 percent of birds fly away if you make a sound or get within 10 feet of them unless they're sick or hurt. Othertimes they're just being silly birb
^^^ this
If a bird is alright and not scared of you it's actually worrying
They need to be wary to survive
idk. I noticed if they get near a human and aren't freaking out they watch very intently. especially the predatory birds...
saw a video of a hawk that got stuck on a porch. human managed to grab them firm but gentle to carry out of the porch and they were watching, not pecking, until the human let them go where the hawk then flew off.
The bird was like: I didn't order an Uber but sure 😂
LOL
A "sc-uber".😅 I'll see myself out now
@@micahgoingback1771I don’t get it.
He also said he was kicking butt and wants to know why the fight was broken up.
You dork 🤣 Good one 👍👍🤟🤟
The look he gives when he is riding on the back of the kayak looks like: "You had better not tell anyone about this."
There's a osprey and a eagle that each have a nest on a different tower at my work the osprey goes to the creek every day and catches a fish the eagle then takes the fish from him everyday
Everyday huh? Sounds like a nice creek
Just like how my boss charges people for the work I do.
I saw an eagle bully an Osprey into dropping his fish. The eagle caught his falling fish in mid air!
You know that eagle got to collect them taxes
Bless your heart.....
Trolls are gonna wear you out.
Sad, that be.
Idk why but " don't look at me like that" had me dying! 🤣🤣🤣
As a fellow outdoorsman, it’s amazing what we see out on the water or in the woods. It’s rare that you actually get to save and help wildlife like this. That was a good video man.
Thank you!
Ospreys are fisher birds, they would of been fine
These birds did not need human interference. Osprey can swim
@@BenjoCovers I’m out for game to kill and eat + trophy. Thats true. But given the opportunity to save something in peril, I would not pass that opportunity up. Depending on how far gone something is would determine its likeliness for survival.
@@BenjoCovers 😂 it’s not a double standard. Animals are meant to be food. If hunters didn’t hunt deer, we would have an over abundance of deer. Causing more problems to humans than you can fathom. If we didn’t eat farm animals, such as cows or pigs, they would become extinct. Because no one would have use for them at all. Your logic is wrong. Plain and simple. I get what you are saying, I simply believe you are wrong. I’m not eating plant based foods. I’m going to stick to my meat, vegetables and fruits. No one will ever convince me otherwise. Hunters are necessary. Same as farm animals being slaughtered for food are necessary.
Thanks brother ospreys are awesome. I live on the water in SOMD and have 2 nests on my property. They literally show up on st.pattys day for the last 4 years. They go down to south America for the winter which takes them around a month to make the journey to and from.
Well handled, love the "Imma be upset if you are stuck on purpose"😂
Man I'm so jealous...I kayak and love Osprey. Great job brother!
“Don’t look at me like that.”Cracked me up.
The way they’re looking at each other is so funny
“Damnit Dave now look where we are”
That had to be the highlight of your day. Always feel good to help any type of animal and gain their trust. Ozzy will never forget you and you will never forget him. Good for you, man 🤙
Thanks! Great experience!
Imagine if right after, 2 stuck V-22 Ospreys just landed straight down in the water behind them.
NOOOO😭😭😂😂😂
@@-Batman- YOU GUYS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE GROUNDED STILL!!
You're a good man. It's good to see positive videos from time to time.
Thank you
Hes like " well this is embarrassing "😂
This was awesome long live Ozzy! Thanks for helping out!
There is a God!!
In human form.
God given gift. bless this angel
are horny hormons.
That is so cool. He knew you helped .
“Don’t look at me like that!” Cracked me up cuz they did look at you funny 😂
Dude, I think those birds were making baby birds
Some eagles do this while mating but Ospreys don't. Ospreys mate in their nest and mating season ended 1 1/2 months ago. This was a young male who got too close to a breeding pair's nest. The much larger female was circling above.
not eagles
naw, those were two rivals, one trying to take over the nesting area of the other for their mate.
They don't do it human style, they do it bird style. Or as you would know, doggy style
i love when animals realize you’re trying to help
This is great! lol I’m glad Ozzy’s back to doing osprey things
Ospreys are truly fascinating creatures, it's amazing to witness their interactions in the wild.
No matter how bad the fishing is. You can always see an osprey and know someone is catching fish. 😂
He gave you a look like "I am only taking this ride because I'm being nice" 😂😂
Buddy..good looking out for all of us!
They were willing to die for whatever they were fighting for. You just created an everlasting rivalry
i’m so glad i’m not the only one that talks to animals like they my homies 😂
All the time!
@@BenjoCovers I do every time 😂😂

“Ay uhhh just don’t say shit about you helping me out alright?”
LOL
Ozzy chilling in the boat like “Thx for the ride man.”
They were fuggin
That was my first thought but that's only bald eagles.. after looking it up, Osprey mate in their nest and don't do any rituals like this. They were fighting
Ospreys don't have the same mating rituals as eagles and if they did those two messed up they're supposed to separate before hitting the ground. Youre a moron.
Nah, birds of prey will sometimes clamp talons down and get locked in
I thought they were bangin' and this guy was being a c block.
@@mdotguy yes obviously you're not the only person who was in need of educating thanks for admitting it in the most idiotic way possible.
The two of them looking at you like "this don't concern you" 😂
Bro claimed that last osprey as his own😂 good looks bro u saved both those bords
Cowboys stink…again lolololo
“Are you guys stuck on purpose?”
The ospreys: 👁️v👁️ 👁️v👁️
Good looking out buddy 👌 🎉😊
"are you stuck on purpose"
Both looking like "DOES THIS LOOK LIKE PURPOSE?!" 😂
This is the kinda stuff that keeps me going back to the outdoors (fishing and hunting, or even just walking thru the woods) you NEVER know what you're gonna see, hear, or experience. Awesome content man, you got a follower for life.
The way they turned to look at him after his "are you guys stuck on purpose" 😂😂
This was awesome to watch. Thanks for posting. Must have been a cool day fishing.
Bro looked at you like it wasn’t his Uber drop off location he requested 🤣
These are clever birds. I’m sure they won’t soon forget your kindness.
This is the best interaction I’ve seen in a while 😂😂😂
"We're going to release each other" cracked me up
it's these random acts of kindness that make life worth living......
Bird was looking at him like : "You're weird, dude!".
😁
The way they were both looking at you. 😂😂😂
If they weren't in a death match in the end. These birds have the coolest way to chill and hang out of any birds ever.
not 100% sure but some birds do this when mating, if they dont nut before they hit the ground they lose.
Hahah I love how they look at each other so confused like, “is he with you?” “Nah I thought he was with you.” 😂
The definition of have a calm chill day
Hell he thought “I was bathing in the lake and caught a hooman.”
Lol
When I was a child I absolutely loved these guys so this makes me so happy
Osprey sitting there like "Yea, I see the tree. Where's the fish you're supposed to give me??"
The look they both gave you after being stuck and just floating together 😂😂
Really appreciate how he helped them whilst still respecting them as wild birds of prey. Too many people treat wild animals like pets these days.
He was looking at you like nope i belong to you now my water uber lol
they both looked at him like "MIND YOUR BUSINESS"
I love when wildlife sort of just allow themselves to be transported around sometimes when theyre tired
He acted like he didn’t want to leave the guy! So cute!😂
I like that "Ozzy" looked at him like I thought I was going to be your house osprey?
The way they looked at you when they were in the water like "EXCUSE MEE" 😂
Funny . Thank you for the laughs and being a solid human ❤
Dang that’s a perfect picture of a real man. Loving life, loving nature. Keep on going buddy! Wished I could be a little bit more like you 😎
The way they both looked at him like “What?”😂
Thank u for helping!!!! A lot of people would’ve left her
I like how that bird was on there for like 2 seconds and was like “welp you’re my dad now” and didn’t wanna leave🤣
Much love brotha for helping them two birds outta a tight pickle. Much respect.
Dont look at me like that...
Doofy lookin' looks, lookin' back😂😂😂😂
They immediately went back at it lol
"there ya go"
"Eh man don't tell me what to do I'm a frickin osprey!"
He's looking like dude you went the wrong direction.
This is a good one. My only Kayak wildlife story is having a porpoise snot rocket right in my face
Don't look at me like that! The best line.
The way the were looking at you like 2 kids that just got caught fighting by their dad.😂
Ozzy’s like “bro I figured I’d just stay with you”
Him calling the bird Ozzy is PERFECT for Ozzy man reviews
When I read 'Osprey fight' I had something else in mind lmao.
The way that birds of prey just stare at you like they are in shock
Thank you for taking the time to save these guys.
“Just saw MY osprey taking off” haha hell yeah, I like that 👍 y’all are bonded now, that’s ya boy! Good lookin out
Osprey: "Move along, man. This doesn't concern you."
The way he was talking to the ospreys like two toddlers
"Are you guys stuck on purpose"
"We are NOT stuck on purpose"
*Osprey look at you*
"We're stuck on purpose ;)"
Ozzy probably said "I'm good now, round 2 b***h" and took off looking for that other bird😂
The one resting on the back of the boat at 0:32 was like, "What? Are you looking at me? Don't look at me."
My dumb ass questioning myself on how tf two fighting military choppers look like... Until i realised the birb Osprey's fighting kinda makes more sense...
You're too much. Thanks for your help with them. You're a good Samaritan. Beautiful to know that they both are back on track.
Bro felt betrayed when you dumped him on the island😂😂😂
Dude that is such a cool experience. Good on ya for helping them out
"....back to doing what osprey's do" Which is getting awkwardly stuck to the guy they're fighting with 😂
God bless you for saving those two.
