lot of people don't realize that you can remove crank pulley bolt very easy by bumping a starter for couple of seconds and using a long breaker bar against the concrete floor. Just have to remove Fuel Pump 15A fuse, start engine and let it run out of fuel before attempting this... worked 100% on my G35 crank pulley removal..
I seen a lot of people take the whole front end off to do this job. What did you have to remove? And what tools did you use to remove the harmonic balancer? My 37 is stuck on limp mode and i got the codes p0011and p0021. Sorry for so many questions man but would you say this job is doable for a do it yourself amateur?
If you have patience and a small high torque impact wrench it's not that difficult. If you have done timing belts or water pumps it helps with the experience. If you have any more ?'s just ask no problem
@@jeffb3023 i have a 08 g35.. leaking around lower left side of motor around the compresor it coolant . Ive seen videos and online about weep hole from water pump may ne the issue .. how difficult is this ro do and what you think is estimate for job like this? Thanks
@@LuisRuiz-bo1ox Yes if it's leaking coolant you have a bad water pump. If your mechanically inclined it should only take roughly 4 to 6 hours depending on what tools you have. I suggest changing all timing chain guides and gally gasket if g35 have them not sure. Get all oem nissan parts you will be good for another 150,000 miles easy
@@jeffb3023 any specialty tools needed that you know i need for this job , and should i be worried something else wrong caise pump go out thanks for the info
Hi Jeff do you think Milwaukee stubby (M12 or M18) will be able to lossen the crankshaft nut ? Max torque is about 250-260 Ftlb of torque? I have Milwaukee m18 high torque but this thing will not fit there, and Ingressor Rand 231c
not sure or just try it or watch videos on UA-cam how to break crank nut loose with engine start method let me know how it goes or any other questions.
mine was a 2010 with 100,000 miles on it not sure of any other years or mileage im guessing its like a water pump 80,000 and up. Hope that helps you out
It's a pretty intense job there is a lot involved and kinda hard to describe. Just have to start taking front part of engine apart piece by piece. Timing isn't that hard you can c-clamp it or just mark where it is with a marker and put it back in same place or just re-time it top dead center. There are vidios how to do that. Hope this helps some. It took about 4.5 to 5 hours from start to finish. Buy all OEM nissan parts let me know how it goes.
I’ve done it, if you order the parts from Infiniti (DO NOT USE AFTERMARKET WATER PUMP/GUIDE) and give me at least a week. I’d charge $900. It’s very labor intensive but if you allow the mechanic to take their time and do it 100% flawlessly it’s not that bad.
Can that cause your your exhaust to make a whirling noise when you’re driving? If it’s going bad? Engine has been pretty loud lately and i decided to look under the hood, that pulley has some shake too it
@@dgree100 Make sure all nuts and bolts are tight. but that should not make the engine run loud. get under it while it is running and listen for exhaust leaks first.
Go to www.rockauto.com and get a AISIN WPN116 Its either Japanese made or a OE water pump. Only $50 shipped for most. Skip the $20-30 pumps for this motor.
Thanks for sharing brother.
It’s really possible to achieve this work without disassemble the whole front end.
👍

What year g37s are effected with this gasket problem and what mileage does this gasket usually go bad at ?
mine was a 2010 with 100,000 miles on it not sure of any other years or mileage im guessing its like a water pump 80,000 and up. Hope that helps you out
Any G made before 2013 is affected and the gasket can go at 50k or 150k it’s hit or miss, some Gs never run into the issue.
Jeff B would a sign be rattling when accelerating after a stop? Because people told me I have a mild crack on mine, I got a 2010 with 104k miles
How were you able to do it without removing the front cover?
Just loosen the radiator dont disconnect it push it away from engine leaving plenty of room to get a small high torque impact in there
@ the dealer its a 4 K job my Utubers, so grab your gonads and challenge your self to do it just watch out for the timing of the chain
Man are you near philly
Hey can you give me a run down on how to start or what to expect, also what happen with the timing how did you adjust it?

How long do the vq water pumps last properly maintained ?
Check with your local dealer they are all different and could give you up to date guidance.
Is the gally gasket more common on the g37’s rather than the g35’s?
We have done them on both it's just hit or miss with each car. Usually over 130,000 miles.

What’s the big pulley at the bottom of the engine?
Harmonic balancer , controls the power from engine to surpintine belt.
