Thank you for this video I just purchased this pack (Happy Fathers Day to me) and they went through the features in the store but I'm old and forget. Too often I have purchased packs and wondered the best way to use it or what specific features were for. Much appreciated.
It’s official I’m gonna ask for this for my birthday in April. (The guide one) I’ve been using an Ozark trail waist pack from Walmart that wasn’t even meant for fishing
Great review as usual ! , I had a bit of dilemma regarding what would be a good choice for me. I mainly fish for the great lakes steelhead and salmon using a Centrepin setup, Carrying a longer handle net is an asset for me as our rods ate 13-15ft in length and have a crisper action similar to spey rods. I am torn between the orvis-guide slingpack, hippack and fishpond switch back pro. Ability to have a workstation on the water for tinkering with shot patterns and float rigs is definitely an asset. Are these packs water resistant against say rain/sleet and show?
Thanks for watching! Great question - the outer pocket/work station is waterproof, however, the rest of the fabric is a recycled cordura polyester, which is not waterproof.
@@AvidMax Thanks, how do the nomad boat net and Rising Lunker nets fit in the sling pack? I read a lot of reviews about nets falling off so wanted to check with you guys before buying them, I plan to buy the slingpack and net soon
Bummer about the two smaller packs not having anything for holding a net. That's a deal-breaker for me. One of the things that drives me crazy on the water is wrangling a net. I second the comment about the sling scabbard needing to be vertical when you are carrying.
Love the pack, but that net design doesn't seem too great. The net sticks out way to far to the side, which means if you're bushwacking you're bound to get caught up.
That's true, for bushwhacking you may want to switch to either a smaller net than shown here or maybe go to a pack that carries your net more vertically instead out to the side. A few of our shop employees like a waist or a chest pack for a more streamlined net carry!
www.avidmax.com/fishpond-nomad-el-jefe-net/ Here is the link for the net, and we would recommend using a net release, so you don't lose the net if you drop it. www.avidmax.com/loon-outdoors-magnetic-net-release/
Good questions, it does not. We show the backside of the standard sling and talk about the features unique to that pack starting here: ua-cam.com/video/sGrvAaOlADc/v-deo.html
Why the hell do people want something hanging off them in an ungainly way, or even worse, a ridiculous hip pack, when you could just wear a vest? Ok, vests are not trendy right now but they are way, way better than any of these crazy ideas.
Just wish the guide bag came in the Fishe collab design
Can you guys get more in depth about the features of the bag like what size tackle boxes fit and what size water bottles fit. Thanks 👍🏾

Just got the standard version. Putting it to use this weekend

Great choice, let us know how you like it!
how was it?

What Fishpond net is that? It looks like it is about as big as a person could go and still have mobility.
Great question, this is the net used in the video! www.avidmax.com/fishpond-nomad-el-jefe-net/

Great review, however, the choice of background music had me wondering what the heck was going on
What is the largest bottle that will fit in the bottle holder? Can't seem to find that answer anywhere, even orvis' website doesn't specify.
You can get away with some big bottles. A standard 32oz Nalgene should fit
Just curious. How much does that net cost, because the first time you drop it in fast water it's gone lol. Any idea how to attach it?

Does the non guide pack have a net scabbard ?
Good questions, it does not. We show the backside of the standard sling and talk about the features unique to that pack starting here: ua-cam.com/video/sGrvAaOlADc/v-deo.html
That net will snag on every bush you encounter, it needs to be vertical
gosh dang it man, now I have to get this.
Does anyone else have the standard sling pack without the net scabbard? Trying to figure out how the hell to rig the net up.
