Well, the ottoman era started around 1400 AD and went on for around 500 years. It isn't ancient but definitely not recent history.

the mountain is called Shpiragu and is named after a legend, according to which, two brothers Shpiragu and Tomorri (another mountain) fight over a fairy (a girl named Osum) whose tears formed the river that passes through the "white city" as it was also known long time before... beautiful city and lots of history...
