Once you hit the "bottom" of the hilt during insertion, you should actually keep going and press the spring-loaded part before you twist to lock in. Just like how you should press in before you twist for removal, you should do it while inserting before you twist to lock into place. Otherwise, this is a great tutorial for proper insertion and removal!
I know I’m a bit late but my blade is really hard to push in and when I turn it on the saber will repeatedly light up and shut off and the speaker will play the turning on sound over and over (the saber is the Rey skywalker)
On mine the way to take out the blade was switched, ccw to take it out and cw to put it back on, very helpful nonetheless! I was hoping the belt loop that I bought for 18$ would go to waste but now I’m know the proper way to use it.
They do not turn on without a blade. The legacy lightsabers will generally not turn on at all. The Savi's Workshop sabers will make a "misfire" sound when you try to activate them without the blade.

Yes! I have the Legacy Darth and Luke and also built one at Savi’s. Got a blade with all three. The hilt of the Legacy blades determines color. The rfid chip in the kyber crystal you choose at Savi’s determines the color. You can buy extra crystals at the Doc Ondars legacy shop that will change the color of a Savi blade but the color of the legacy blades cannot be changed
You can change the blade color on the Savi's Workshop lightsaber by changing the kyber crystal to another color. The character inspired legacy lightsabers have a pre-defined blade color that matches the lightsaber in Star Wars Canon. For example, the blade will only illuminate red when the blade is attached to Darth Vader legacy lightsaber.

Hey so I bought the hilt without the blade so does it still come with the electronics if I buy just a blade?
