In September 2018, a small group of us opened up a non-profit vegan restaurant in London called Unity Diner. Through opening the restaurant we wanted to show off how delicious vegan food is, but at the same time also use the money generated to open up an animal sanctuary. Two years later it feels amazing to say that we have successfully managed to do just that, and I am so thrilled that the Surge Sanctuary is now a reality. But we couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone who has worked at Unity Diner, eaten at Unity Diner and supported the work that myself and the Surge team do. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much to all of you who have been a part of this journey so far. We already have a group of residents who have settled in and are getting used to lounging around, eating lots of delicious food and most importantly, living their lives without being harmed or exploited. And we can’t wait to keep growing the sanctuary and welcoming more and more animals so that they too can live the life that they deserve to live. A world without Ed would be a terrible one
It is a great benevolent project that deserves recognition.
Calling this sanctuary the closest to what we had to a utopia is a bit of a stretch, though it is a step in the right direction.
And I know you're probably exaggerating, but I'd try not to rely on one person to determine your world view.
It's not about this person.
It's quite big of a step that's never been taken before. We have begun truly expanding the circle
this actually made me cry.
thank you for making this, for making a difference
does surge sanctuary take yulin dog rescues
@@govegannotfeegan4854 Perhaps you can credit animal activists in China with this? They exist and do hard work there, you know? Or maybe you don't.
@@tamcon72 i will be actively flying a yulin dog to london
@@govegannotfeegan4854 I don't think you've thought this through.
@@tamcon72 well, thought only thing i have not thought is if surge accepts yulin dogs, that is why im asking u
Ed is living legend, what an achievement. I hope there are plenty of people nearby who can help
Stunning to see the progress you guys have made. I will follow with my own vegan ventures.
Also I DREAM of seeing plenty of videos from the sanctuary... so long as the animals are happy :)
Stuff like community workday vlogs, special times of the year for certain animals, profile videos of individual animals, info dumps/timelapses on the agriculture side of things, ye, it would be heartwarming and inspiring for me and others
I finally have some hope for the world. Earthling ed is testimony that there is goodness still alive in humanity. I’m all teared up 🥺🥺❤️
It always warms my heart to see others doing for others, it bring tears to my eyes.
This brought tears to my eyes, filled with hope!
I'd definitely visit this beautiful place 😍
How are there dislikes on this? Some folks really be out here hating on an animal sanctuary? 🤔🤯
I was wondering the same thing but didn't want to say anything as this is such a positive story. What is up with some people huh?
Haters gotta hate...you know the type...hunters that “cull” because they care so much😳
Meh, the duck house looks a bit tasteless.
Joking.
"You can't deny the basis of why we should be vegan. These animals are alive, they feel, they are sentient, they're conscious. They are experiencing life. They deserve moral consideration that places their worth of life far higher than the arbitrary and non-sensical reasons we find to exploit them" - Ed
Wonderful news! The land is enormous and possibilities are endless. Love all your plans for it. I’m keeping fingers and claws crossed for you guys. Hope to visit one day.
