My god...what a masterpiece! How could any one compose such a complex work. Bach is a genius. Love the harpsichord, loud and clear. Pinnock is brilliant!
To think that each and every note of every instrument was conceived, arranged, played and painstakingly written note by note, each with its proper tempo, cadence, duration and tone is simply mind numbing. Twenty two minutes and forty one seconds of an absolute masterpiece. The amount of knowledge, hard work and extreme genius on the mind and hands of a single man. Congratulations on the video, is breathtaking to try to follow each note and to think of the virtuosity of the players that not only follow and see the score but also execute it with mathematical precision and play it with passion. Great!
Fifty percent genius: 50 percent bloody hard work! I don't know about this work, but I am very familiar with the original m/s of the 6 solo violin sonatas: not a single correction, erasure, or error of any kind, written with ink and a quill, probably by candlelight. SUPERHUMAN!!! And his dear wife and helpmeet Anna Magdalena, whose m/s of the 'cello sonatas we possess, equally beautifully written.
@@keithramsell9955 i think Bach used sketches and practiced writing the piece before doing the final version. This is not to diminish the genius of Bach: he clearly thought carefully beforehand what he would compose and would present it only when he was completely ready with the piece

I listen to melodic and symphonic black metal, melodic death metal, folk metal, anything with roots in Baroque music. But for 22 years now, I've thrown on Baroque, usually with Trevor Pinnock at the panels, for my "heavy" fix without offending the neighbors 😂 This first movement is one of the heaviest movements and I love it so much. I even love the super slow movements that make me think of magical forests, starry night skies, or even the Age of Sail for some reason. Handel and Bach are my go-to metal bands. 😎 Btw, I've been teaching myself the transverse flute for a few years and play along with your sheet music videos gerubach (at very slow speeds 😂), thank you!!

As a professional singer, one of the skills we don't often spend enough time perfecting is the ability to hear how instruments interact with each other. As a visual learner, your scrolling score videos have allowed me to fully experience the counterpoint (of which Bach is the master). When I sing with orchestra, I'm now better able to hear and understand my relationship to the instruments around me. THANK YOU!
Leaving Manchester University July 9th. 1951, I started busking 5 hours every night in a shoe-shop arcade in Leicester square. 100 or so people would listen in open-mouthed silence as I played the 6 unaccompanied violin sonatas, the 2 concertos and sometimes, with a friend the Bach "Double". November 6th. the same year I bought my first house with the proceeds. Very few, I'm sure, were familiar with Bach's music and most had probably never heard a violin close up before.
