As she stated at the beginning of this video, she wrote this song very early in her career - when she was still learning how to play the guitar and only knew a few chords. It's better than any song I could write.

I reckon musically it can be easier to trap negative emotions then positive ones (in my opinion) which is why i enjoy sadder music because for me it is more authentic.
