As soon as you have pallet forks, you start palletizing things to move around...storage bins, containerized tool kits/camping gear, 15 bags of concrete, bags of lime, firewood, etc.
Pallet forks are a must have, but don't under estimate the simple heavy tined landscape rake. Use it more than the box blade for driveway leveling and maintenance.
I don't have a landscape rake...yet, its on the list, but first I'd like the 3rd function and grapple LOL...lots of stuff I could get done with that grapple right now...landscape rake is a great attachment for sure.
I have pallet forks, and yep, I use them for pallets but they work great for moving tree branches, logs, etc. as well. I have a sub-compact tractor, so the lift capacity it a joke but for most chores I have it works ok....key is getting enough ballast, a box blade is NOT enough ballast even for the light duty loader lift capacity, 500 pounds would probably be about right.
I think a landscape rake is another must have attachment. They're very underrated.

Limbs to where it's lower to the ground in the middle and digs a trench if you try to clean the ground. Totally cheap implements

Great list! For the box blade I’d highly recommend at least a hydraulic top link, if not a full top and tilt kit. Really makes the box blade so much more useful and productive.
It's interesting that you mention the quick attach option and then go straight to the pallet forks. The only true "must-have" implement, is the front-loader itself.
That's a given... even if you never use it much ... it brings a lot more value to the tractor and will be much easier to sell the tractor in the future.
@@rgd2598 - I agree that it should be a given, and I'm sure that's how Neil feels about it as well, but he didn't really mention it.
Pallet forks aren’t a must have but they are absolutely a should have. I store all of my attachments on pallets and can move them anytime with ease. In fact, if it is anything my wife or I foresee moving at a future date it is going on a pallet. Replaced the box blade with a land plan and have no regrets. If you have 3rd function you will be glad you have a grapple.
My mistake was I let my salesman talk me out of the 3rd function kit. So now with a limited income its way out of my budget. A grapple would be extremely useful around my property for moving brush and tree branches.
I bought a box blade, but I think a land plane would have been a much better choice for the driveway grading I do occasionally. A ballast box would have been a better item to have gotten as well, as none of the regular implements are remotely close to being heavy enough for loader work, even on a sub-compact tractor having 500+ pounds of ballast is a must, the dang tractor is way too light in the back end as it is. I mow with my tractor occasionally so adding liquid ballast to the wheels is out of the equation, and being able to just take the ballast box off when not needed is a much better solution.
Something not frequently mentioned is rear forks. Put a pallet or box on it and carry a sprayer, drums, bags of stuff, tools, and adjustable rear weight system. Putting a chainsaw, gas, wedges, helmet, chaps, brush cutter, in it and you can do some real forestry work. Tractors are terrible for carrying loose items like tools. And supplies. Trailers are handy but make it too long and you have to do the lifting.
If you have a sub-compact tractor, the 3 point hitch forks are better as the 3 point has more lifting capacity than the loader especially with pallet forks on the loader, you are really limited, by about 1/2 its lift capacity, which wasn't much to begin with LOL.
Right on target. I highly recommend having the pallet forks, box blade, and a ballast box for those times when you need the balance but also need to maneuver in tight spaces where the bigger implements are a hazard.
For my money, a good quality 4 in 1 bucket should be at the top of the list. Sure, it won't grapple as well as a proper grapple, but the time I've saved not having to return to base to switch implements has been remarkable. Usually I (and I daresay most COMPACT tractor users) only have 1 or 2 logs to move, not a stack of them. Switching implements for such a small job would be a pain. Plus, you then get your grading blade and push blade included.
Bought a set of pallet forks but have yet to find a use for them...
Out of all my implements the grapple is my favorite. Stay safe

Same😆.... anywhere from carrying logs/sticks...heavy stuff... repositioning/moving trailers...digging up landscaping...throwing some plywood on it for a work table ...if I'm gonna get something heavy or long lumber stacks @Lowes,etc. I'll throw a pallet in my trailer or 2x4' to set it in so it'll be easy to get off when I get to where I'm going...jacking fence post out if the ground .... the list is endless. I've also set a pallet on them and lifted my wife, sitting down, to pick plums,pears up high. Maybe not OSHA safe, but if you're slow and methodical, it's safe enough. Besides... I got a major life

Loader, grapple, gravel scraper, brush hog. That's my guess, my next personal one I need, ok fine *want*, is a stump grinder.
My big three in order of regular usage are a litter bucket, pallet forks, and the rotary cutter. Also have the bucket that came with the tractor, a tiller, landscape rake, boom pole, and post hole digger. I've never used the PHD, but it was an estate sale and far too cheap to pass up :)
I needed a tractor with a PHD about 20 years ago when building fences when we had horses...now, for the 1 post hole I need to dig every few years it is far from worth the cost to have that cumbersome thing sitting around LOL.
As always, spot on advice regarding tractors and implements. Pallett forks and a root rake grapple have saved me literally weeks of work over the years.👍👍👍
A 3rd function kit and grapple is definitely on my list LOL. Need to order the 3rd function kit for my tractor at least so I can get it installed before they change model series and discontinue the kits. Even with my sub-compact tractor I think a grapple built small enough and light weight enough would be great for moving brush and branches around much easier than the pallet forks LOL.
I agree pallet forks are essential. Got a set fir my 70hp loader and I use them constantly.
I bought my subcompact in November. I started with a loader bucket and a set of pallet forks. I quickly added a box blade. Most recently I added a tiller. I definitely use the pallet forks the most. I am always finding ways to use them. And skid steer quick attach is a must!
Purchased forks with my BX23s intending to use them to help around the beeyard, but they have become so darned handy - even made strawberry boxes for my wife that I can now move in and out of the greenhouse to extend their season. I also purchased a box blade with a certain function in mind, but again, does so much more from providing some minimum ballast for the loader, to grading the driveway to snow removal. Two excellent choices for versatility.
I ordered forks with my tractor. Most things in my building are now on pallets. Bought grapple last fall it's great.
Most used for me: pallet forks, flail mower, and grapple. The grapple is a game changer. The added 3rd function hydraulics enabled so many things. This alone is well worth the added expense if buying new.

I bought a used 23-hp SCUT primarily to move materials and do minor earthwork as I build a new house. The guy I bought it from bought it to plow snow, then added a set of forks, and used it mostly to move materials, and scaffolding when he remodeled his house. My favorites: pallet forks with 42-inch forks, buy the fork capacity you FEL can lift. A fork frame rated at 6000-lbs, is a waste of money, if the FEL can only lift 1500-lbs.
Second box blade, third landscape rake, fourth a SSQA front 3-point set up this let’s you mount things up front. Suddenly you rear blade or box blade are a snow plow. An “Add a grapple kit”, modified with 2-inch square tubing so you can move the grapple between, your forks, regular bucket, rock bucket, etc. by welding receivers on them.

Chisholm Industries makes nice custom attachments for the BX models. Receiver’s for the front and back, land planes, single furrow plows, and receiver’s for the 3 point. Canadian Made 🇨🇦
My grapple is one of my most used attachments in the summer/fall besides the land plane. In the winter, the 3pt. snowblower hands down.
I think pallet forks should be purchased before a bucket! They live on my tractor.
If you've got a older tractor/small agg tractor, that's not too often used, or just to get around, a box/container for the rear might be something to look at. Especially if you don't/rarely use the three point.
You basically make it intu a slower XUV depending on the tractor.
I bought one for our tractor as it's mainly a get around vehicle for me now, and i can transport something like our Husqvarna 525RXT trimmer when i need to mow down grass or get firewood if needed.
I'll give you another option for snow clearing. It's called the BFT..or Big Fing Tire. Get an old worn out high flotation tire, and cut it in half. Then, secure that into your loader bucket with a couple ratchet straps and drilling holes in the tire where needed. Tie it in, you can open the 180 degree tire to 120 degrees or less if you want it to stick outside the bucket. This gives a rubber surface on bottom and sides, has self protection in the event of impact, and can handle unimaginable amounts of snow.
My pallet forks are indispensable for working in my woods, carrying logs, brush, lifting other tools, for everything!! Absolutely the first implemente to buy. Secondly a brush cutter.
I bought my tractor about 6 years ago and did not get the quick coupler for the FEL. It is by far my biggest regret. Although I can't seem to talk myself into paying for a retro fit.

Pallet forks aren't just a multi-use attachment. From moving IBC totes to unloading deliveries (other attachments!), I think forks are essential. That's why it was my first attachment purchase (note: don't get the screw-on type) and my second (to get the quick attach). I won't ever be getting a mower because they don't work so well on sagebrush and I won't be planting grass.
IMO just get a grapple instead of a grapple and a power fork. Unless of course you’re actually moving pallets. They do more.
Bought my 6060 in 2021. I did not get a 3rd function when I purchased my tractor and 10' Bush Hog. At my 50-hour maintenance, I had a 3rd Function added and picked up a grapple, it's a game changer, period, full stop.
I just have a sub-compact tractor, yep kicking myself or not getting the 3rd function kit when I bought the tractor. Price has almost doubled on the kits now, and trying to get a hold of one is just about as hard....trying to order one they want a ridiculous amount for shipping, so it makes it even less of a want anymore seeing the $1,000 plus shipping really makes me kick myself for not getting it with the tractor.
All I have (L2250) is a box scraper and a backhoe. I love my backhoe. Expensive, but sure beats a shovel! If it was newer, with Skid Seer quick attach I'd have more options, but it isn't getting replaced anytime soon, so... 😞
Ha, I bought pallet forks to get logs out of the woods. Then the wood chipper was delivered - on a pallet - and I had to move it a few hundred feet up the driveway. So overnight - I was moving pallets!
One mistake I made when I bought my tractor was not listening to myself and making my salesman order my tractor with the 3rd function kit, ballast box, and grapple. Could have been using that stuff right now, but listened to my salesman instead and didn't get that stuff back when my tractor was ordered.
If you are out shopping for a tractor, look around your property, you friends property, family's property, anywhere you will be using that tractor, and look at all the jobs you will need to be using the tractor for, and buy every attachment/implement you need when you order/purchase the tractor...you'll thank yourself in the long run, yep your monthly payment will be a little more, but in the end you'll have that attachment/implement there when you need it...don't let your dealer talk you out of add-ons for your tractor like rear remotes, or 3rd function kits...you might not need it that day, but you will at some point...get it when you order your tractor, they can add it on as they're doing the setup on your tractor, it'll save money and time in the long run. Even if you never end up using it, if you sell your tractor those little add-ons will boost your sale price a little too, as someone buying a used tractor probably would like those options...and will pick your tractor over another advertised one just because the convenience factor that your tractor already is equipped with what they need.
For me I really don't use the pallet forks. On a BX tractor there's not much capacity on the loader. I have seen a lot of people say the backhoe is useless after a few jobs. With a thumb it's my most used tool.
I have an older BX2350 can you get an add/bolt on quick release for the front of it? I also would have to say a scraper blade or box blade and pallet forks are up there on the list along with a tine or disc cultivator of some sort and if your have the money for it a 3 point rototiller would be nice.

@@wildbill23c What we had was a Wessex 1000kg (1 ton ) compacity 4 by 7 foot drop side tipper on the back of the BX 2350 that was in use daily running round the holiday camp moving tools building materials rubbish stone put cage sides on for leaves & wood chip loader on the tractor was the game changer faster than a shovel even if I had to drop trailer of to load and put the weights back on and off each time ( I am in England things different hear to the USA 🤣🤣)
We have selected our tractor, a BX23S, and the quick release loader was nonnegotiable. The package came with a box blade and we added the grapple. Will close as soon as the third function switch is installed.
Not to be a smart alec, but with a Precision mfg Add a Grapple for forks or buckets, you can combine functionality of two attachments in one. Yes there is some compromise, but I like the increased versatility.

Man, if you order a loader tractor new WITHOUT a quick attach bucket in this day and age, you must really like cussing and messing around with stuff, lol. Even if its to be a one jpb tractor, you may want it one day- or youll want to sell it. Esp, if like Neil says, its only a 3-400 dollar option from the factory.
State of the art is way beyond that, now- these days you can unlatch from you seat with the push of a button. How many climb on and offs could that save on a busy day? Maybe not with compacts, but utility size tractors definitely have that option. And so do skid steers.
My tractor has the quick attach, its great, really nice to be able to just pull 2 levers, drop the bucket, pickup the pallet forks, and lower the levers and off to another task....although lately my pallet forks have gotten more use than the bucket....but eventually I'd like to get the grapple, but I need a 3rd function kit first as I let my salesman talk me out of it when I bought the tractor LOL...oops...never let your salesman talk you out of buying anything, period, even if you don't plan on using it for a while, get it when you order/buy the tractor, you'll thank yourself later. Dealer wants almost $2k for the 3rd function kit/installation. I think I'll buy the kit and install it myself and save about $1300 LOL.

As videos are global: loader with Euro/Ålö connection, third and fourth function, palletforks with hydraulic movement and a snowbucket with extendedable wings. A backblade with hydraulic turning (around is nice) and a backbucket/box. Then a forest trailer with a crane and sheetmetal insert so that it can be multiuse...
Should there be a weight on the back when running a snowblower?

Grapple isnt a regular attachment because it requires an add on that cost more than the attachment. Ridiculous that any tractor made today doesnt come with 3rd function or rear hudraulic acess function
