Actually, Glen Moray, at least in the UK is famous for being one of the bestselling budget / firsttime newbies single malts in the UK, widely available from most British supermarkets and Off Licenses. It is probably responsible for introducing more people to the wonderful world of Single Malts, more than any other brand!
Very Nicely done review. I also enjoyed the little background on the Distillery. I agree Glen Moray produces whiskies that are nice go to drams and the price points are great. At present, I have the G.M. 10 Chardonnay Cask MATURED, (3 bottles since it has been replaced by a Chardonnay Cask FINISHED bottling, obviously I Enjoy this Expression a very delicate blend of fruit, floral and spice in the palette) G.M. Peated Elgin Classic and G.M. 18 y.o.. which made the WHISKY ADVOCATES Top 20 Whiskies to look out for. It was #10. I enjoy their expressions because of their delicate notes and extremely affordable prices. Sláinte Mike GLEN MORAY 10 y.o. Chardonnay Cask MATURED 9/25/17 43% ABV COLOR: Dark Amber Nice Ring with Legs Running Moderately. NOSE: Very Floral with Malt Sweetness underneath PALETTE: Very Floral with Pleasant pepper notes underneath. The mouthfeel is medium although it warms and becomes silky as I roll it around. FINISH: Drying with pepper on my tongue and pepper rising from my throat as well. A Very Pleasant Floral note remains as the spiciness recedes. This is my third bottle of GLEN MORAY 10 y.o. Chardonnay Cask MATURED. I Love the Floral Notes of this Whisky. It is a Great Warm weather Dram. Unfortunately, the distillery is discontinuing this bottling, but according to the Brand Rep for NYC and the East Coast of the USA There is still a good amount available, BUT I bought 3 bottles as a hedge (Obviously, I Love this Whisky). It is VERY REASONABLY priced so I would suggest getting a few bottles. This is an Excellent Whisky IMO! Highly Recommended!
I'm doing a long nosing on Glen Moray 12 as I watch this. I totally get what you mean about birthday cake, like the next-day smell of a natural homemade sheet cake with buttercream frosting at room temperature.
Glen Moray is my go to Scotch on a budget. I enjoy the classic single malt and the classic single peated malt. Of which I am enjoying today. A few hours ago I bought a bottle of the 12 year of which I will be enjoying over the weekend
A very fair critique, agree it's not Glenmorangie or Glen Grant ... BUT .... it's a budget whiskey that delivers value for money in this day & age, (Especially in Australia where taxes on alcohol is over the top. I always have one on hand. PS: the Chardonay blend is well worth a try as well.
Nice review. I see reviewers critical of the depth of flavor or intensity, but honestly its nice that it is a lighter, mellower, approachable scotch and for the price point it is incredible. I got it for $35in NY and for 12 yrs, that's awesome. I taste the fruit, the peat, the smoke, hint of intensity, and a bit of sweetness - good bargain for me. I tend to prefer the light vanilla cookie flavor of Irish Whiskey, but this is a nice Scotch that isn't too much.
Just tried my first sip of this dram. Reminds me of Glenmorangie, but with a longer finish. Both are very fruity up front. Glen Moray goes for $47 US for 750 ml in Sept. 2020.. Salentia! 😎
IMO GLEN MORAY is a good daily sipper. I really enjoy the G.M. Chardonnay Cask MATURED; unfortunately they are discontinuing this and replacing it with a Chardonnay Cask FINISHED. I currently have the 10 y.o. Chardonnay Cask MATURED x2 the 12 y.o. and the 18 y.o. At the price point, it is easy to keep around. It is a subtle whisky so slow is the way to get the most out of a dram. SLÁINTE Mike
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary no problem my brother when people put the work into stuff they are passionate about they deserve the compliments and ur one of the best my friend appreciate all you do making these videos for us I started on bourbon and ur channel has helped me branch out onto Irish and scotch whiskeys
Very nice review! We are in agreement on many of your comments. I would certainly like to know how your impression of Glen Moray 12 changes over time. Especially in regards to the intensity of fruit on the nose and the finish which, for me, had some pepper/ginger. Very much appreciate your approach to these reviews, to the point and tinged with humor.
Thanks Barry! And thanks for supporting the channel. You picked a good whiskey, you could have picked some garbage, color and flavor added Canadian whisky for me to try.
I just recently found this channel and subscribed today. Thanks for putting out good info so I can make an informed choice when trying something new. In the past I would go by what was on the label and how cool the label looked.
+Alexander Lapp I'm not gonna lie... when I'm looking for a new whiskey to try, that has a lot to do with my selection. Pro Trip? Let ME waste MY money so you can save yours! I'm glad you enjoy the channel and subbed!
Hey man I'm very new to your channel I just came across it but this is a very nice review and I checked your other videos and I liked them keep up the good work man I sub subscribed to your channel
Hey mate, just came across your channel and I'm enjoying it! I do agree that the music is a little cheesy but it doesn't ruin anything for me! Maybe one day you could review my favourite whiskey: Lagavulin 16? Anyway, keep it up. Cheers from Australia
Locally Glen Moray 12 is no longer available to me. I bought last three bottles I could find. Why? Reminded me of younger years when my grandmother and grandfather made apple and pear pies for Christmas. Their favorite pie to make together. That and it's a good daily sipper.
I love this sentiment. Nostalgia is huge for me with whiskey drinking and I'm glad to hear you have good memories. I've never had pear in my apple pie... interesting idea!
Hey Bill: Did a ISLE of ARRAN comparison tonight. Here are my findings: SLÁINTE Mike !SLE OF ARRAN 10 y.o. and ISLE OF ARRAN 14 y.o. Both 46% ABV Natural Color, Non-Chill-filtered A Comparison This is a simple side by side comparison of whisky from the same distillery. I want to see if I can detect any difference of 4 years to my Palette, These are both open bottles able 3/4 full. I cleansed my palette with Egg Matzo, like the traditional Irish guy that I am LOL! ISLE of ARRAN 10 y.o. COLOR: Golden, the Color of strained Apple Cider Nice ring with many legs. NOSE: A light grape fruitiness PALETTE: A Hint of fruit in the arrival with a nice spiciness rising in addition to a drying sense. A rich mouthfeel surrounds the notes, maybe a bit of grapefruit underneath. FINISH: Light Sweetness going down followed by light prickly pepper spice on the tongue. Mouthwatering with a light sweetness on the tongue. ISLE OF ARRAN 14 y.o. COLOR: Golden, the Color of Strained Apple Cider. A Nice Ring with many legs running slower NOSE: A Very light fruitiness PALETTE: A Medium fruitiness on arrival which lingers as I swirl it around with light pepper on my tongue with a rich creamy mouthfeel. FINISH: Drying with a light spiciness with a sweet note lingering underneath. The general consistency between the 10 and the 14 to me shows craftsmanship. The fruitiness comes out a little more in the 14 showing the effects of the barrels. Four years is too short to create a great difference, but I enjoyed both these expressions. Air has rounded out both of these expression; both were very Spicy in the first glass. This is my 3rd glass of each and the fruit and sweet side of ISLE OF ARRAN are expressing themselves with air. I am enjoying this distillery more with each glass. There is a complexity on my Palette that I can not put words to but I am enjoying.
The intro, but there was also a transition that had it. Also your fade in and out transitions are unnecessary in my opinion. I would just focus on getting your visual experience honed, rather than sitting in a room where you have such an open area behind you with distracting lights you ought to try something more intimate and focused. Thanks for having this review for me to enjoy with you, I love to drink whiskeys with the reviewers as I don't have many friends around here anymore. :(

The Whiskey Dic,
I have recently finished a bottle of George Dickle no12. It was well worth trying.

Glen Moray is awesome. Worth a look, if you haven't tried it.
Totally agree. It's a hidden gem

ISLE of ARRAN 10 y.o.
COLOR: Golden, the Color of strained Apple Cider Nice ring with many legs.
NOSE: A light grape fruitiness
PALETTE: A Hint of fruit in the arrival with a nice spiciness rising in addition to a drying sense.
A Nice Ring with many legs running slower
NOSE: A Very light fruitiness
PALETTE: A Medium fruitiness on arrival which lingers as I swirl it around with light pepper on my tongue with a rich creamy mouthfeel.
FINISH: Drying with a light spiciness with a sweet note lingering underneath.

Do you post these on reddit?
Not yet!
They would love them!
THANKS!!
BOOOOOOZE!!!! YAY!!! haha :) Great review :) big Thumbs and whiskey glasses up! :) :)
+VictorWirus yay! Booze!
i think they did have a tragedy with a flood at one time that damaged the distillery
huh did you even taste it?
Hm... 80 proof is it good or not?
It's not spectacular, but it's better than most at it's price range
The Whiskey Dic aha... OK, thnx!
Not a real fan of this Scotch.
The music isn't necessary, and hinders the experience
John Berry Conway III which music? The intro music, the transitions (which I just started using) or all of it?

John Berry Conway III Would you like some whiskey to go with that whine?
