    My wife bought me one for my birthday.
    Heading up to the John Muir trail in 3 weeks.
    This video helped me understand the ins and outs of this incredible backpack.
    Thank you

    You mention the daypack and having to buy the raincover separately - in Europe, Osprey have given us a built-in raincover instead of the daypack - I'm happy with this tradeoff (I'm from Britain where it rains nearly every day).
    The lower sleeping bag area I would use for stove etc for when I stop to eat - I don't need the sleeping bag until camping so the sleeping bag can stay in the main area.
    Angled back access to the side pocket is not needed. You have a water bladder so a water bottle won't be used.
    The outside pocket is great for stowing rainjacket. When you get rain on and off all day you need to have an easy way to stow your raingear.
    Best pack I've ever owned.

      @UmmNotQuiteSureToPut 6 років тому

      The only thing is the use of those angled side pocket openings. I don't use a water bladder so those have come in handy.

    OMG thanks for 12:55. I was in a full OCD blackout wondering what the top female buckle with "no home" was, LOL, and now this video showed me the bottom one too, for both cross straps. No other video on youtube explains this. I'll finally be able to sleep. 😆

    At last!! I finally found why front and side pockets aren't as stretchy as the last version of the Aether/Ariel... But I still don't like it because it is a struggle to stuff them with water bottle and other gear (comparing with any other stretch pockets).
    However, I love the AG suspension, the Flapjack and the Daylid daypack. I wish I could swap the shoulder harness and put it on my "non-AG" Ariel 65...! It would feel so comfortable!
    Thank you so mutch for the review, it answered all my questions about that new pack. Have a nice day!!

    Anyone find way to substitute or buy the top day lid separately? Got Europe version but did bot know it came with rain cover instead. Kind of disappointed as that was main selling point for me. Any reviews on the rain cover? Is it worth having, like how soaked would stuff get without it ? Want to justify this mistake if I can't find substitute.

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 років тому

      We do not carry the lid as a separate item, but you can always give Osprey a call! A rain cover protects the fabric of the backpack from getting saturated with rain water. It's always a good idea to carry a rain cover, and they, on the other hand, can be purchased separately. Good luck!

    I used the osprey app for measuring and finding a fitting pack. I really wanted this pack, the aether 70L, but the app only suggest the kestrel 68 in small as biggest. Could it possibly work, if I go for the aether 70L ag in medium (since they don't have it in small)? Or is it that huge of a difference in size?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  7 років тому +2

      Thanks for your question. The Aether AG 70 is absolutely available in a small torso size, in fact, we have it in stock in the new 2108 model! There is a pretty big difference in the sizing of small verses medium. If you fit best in a small size torso pack, stick with that size.

      You say that the Aether AG 70 is better for loads of 35 pounds or more, but all my winter kit, camera, food and water for an overnight stay only comes to 30 pounds. Is there any difference in the load centre of gravity between these two bags? As the Atmos AG 70 sits quite far behind, presumably to aid ventilation.

The Baltoro is a comparable pack and we've found that the choice comes down to personal preference and individual fit. Good question! The best spots would be: secured beneath the horizontal compression straps on the front of the pack (the two big straps you see above the logo in the opening shot), or secured using the sleeping pad straps on the bottom of the pack. Another good option would be to store the poles outside of the pack, but to put everything else inside, likely closer to the bottom or middle of the main compartment.

      Thanks for the feedback, we definitely appreciate it! The Aether and the Farpoint packs are incredibly different. The Farpoint packs are excellent for more domestic types of travel. Planes, trains, buses, cars, and the like are perfect homes for the Farpoint. It's not meant for long-distance carrying under heavy loads. The Aether is the go-to backpacking bag. It will hold more weight more comfortably and will be more durable over a long grueling hike, but it may not be as at-home in an urban setting. That being said, folks who tend to fall somewhere in between domestic and adventure travel tend to lean toward the Aether style packs. Cheers!

      Deep House I want to say no its not because the EU version doesn't come with the day pack and it is still marketed as 70L

      This pack comes in various sizes and the dimensions will vary by size. You can refer to Osprey's website for the specifics. Thanks for watching!

    Nice review. I love osprey backpacks. But I have a question... I have just bought the Osprey aether AG 70 and my backpack doesn't have a daylid pack in the lid. Don't you know why? I can remove the lid but it is unusual because I can do anything with that... There are no straps (like in last year version aether III) or daylid pack in the lid.

      Sadly the daylid is not included in Europe :(

    What size is the one of this review?

      Hi Carlos. The 70 in the name of the Osprey Aether AG 70 refers to its capacity, 70 liters. This is a naming system Osprey uses on the majority of their packs to indicate their storage size. Thanks for watching!

    Aether 70 AG or Atmos 65 AG, please ?

      If you plan to carry any more than 35 pounds, go for the Aether. The Aether packs are built to be more comfortable under heavier loads. They'll have more padding and support than the Atmos.

    Could I take this as a carry-on on a plane?

    • @Enwild
      @Enwild  6 років тому

      The dimensions are about 33" x 16" x 13" which is probably a little big for most airlines to let you on. Here's a handy airline carry-on size chart: travel-made-simple.com/carry-on-size-chart/
