    Guys, now I love you even more! I didn't think it was possible! I adore the Alien universe and xenomorphs are my favorite movie monsters. Of course I love Alien-like films. Sci-Fi/Horror is still my favorite horror subgenre.
    Mimic, Pandorum, The Andromeda Strain, Leviathan, Lifeforce, Xtro, Event Horizon are amazing films!

    I don't know that I'd call The Andromeda Strain anything like Alien at all. There's no grotesque monsters or overt gore, and the fear and tension are more of a slow-burn psychological dread. It's an absolute gem of a film, but I don't think liking Alien will automatically mean you like that one.
    Personally, I would've put Virus on this list. It seems largely forgotten by many, but it was very gory and weird, and I loved Jamie Lee Curtis in it.

    Fun fact about Galaxy of Terror, those bumps you see on the wall, if the scene you showed with dude walking down it with a gun, were McDonald's burger containers. Lol. The budget was tight and they wanted to ship to look more realistic and interesting, as the sets were fairly scant, so that was the idea with the walls.

    • @brandonwachter2264
      @brandonwachter2264 3 роки тому +5

    • @MrBilld75
      @MrBilld75 3 роки тому +2

      @@brandonwachter2264 Yeah, I think you're right. I remember hearing that in the vid. I saw about it, that Bill was part of that crew that dumpster dove for them. Hehehehe. That is real movie making and similar things happened in some old famous movies from that era, on tight budgets and again James Cameron was involved.
      Arnold S. actually smashed the car window in Terminator for real and it was a stranger's car, not a prop car. Lol. Linda Hamilton tells the story as, "Cameron wanted a realistic car window smash and to get the permits/licences to film it, was a lengthy and expensive process, plus procuring a car.
      So they did a one take quick scene, Arnold was to walk commandingly across the street, punch the car window get in. It was crazy, we felt like criminals, but it was exhilarating too, lol. We paid for the damages to the person's car, as it was far cheaper than doing it the "official" way through the city", hehehehe. Now that, is moving making dedication.

      I don't know anything about Mimic, except what was mentioned in the vid, and comments, however, I do agree that they are not watching the films, or at least they didn't watch Underwater; if they did, then they don't understand that looking cool, does NOT make a good movie. According to multiple critics that I watch, the monsters were scary... until Kristen Stewart's character one shot one of them. Also, Kristen Stewart's performance was more lack luster than her role in Snow White and the Huntsman, though still better than her role in Twilight. There were large plot holes, some nonsensical decisions made (ESPECIALLY if you are trying to compare it to something as great as Alien), and no character development, which made it nigh impossible to relate to the characters, or feel anything for them when they died, or went through struggles.

    @Marvelous Videos There is a MAJOR correction about Dan O'Bannon in 18:31 and that is that he not only "wrote" the screenplay for ALIEN, he CREATED and titled ALIEN. He is the creator, and Ronald Shusett was given Co-Creator credit due to him giving O'Bannon the idea of the Impregnation and Chestburster. Many people credit Ridley Scott only because of ALIEN but the fact is that without O'Bannon there would never had been ALIEN to begin with. He deserves as much credit for ALIEN as Scott, and in that turn so do Ron Cobb and the also late H.R. Giger whom designs were what inspired the late O'Bannon to create and write ALIEN and then look up a movie company to buy his movie to then write the Screenplay.

    • @targard.quantumfrack6854
      @targard.quantumfrack6854 3 роки тому +1

      Seeing what he's done to the franchise, I'll say that Scott deserve far less credit for ALIEN than the others of the crew.

    I don't think you understand what makes Alien stand out. It's a mix of fear of the unknown and isolation, not to mention the performance of the crew.
    I am not saying the movies you listed are bad, but most of them are not similar to Alien at all.

    The only epic-capture of the idea-of-aliens outside the Original-concePt-artist and his internal-conception, is the Tyranids of Warhammer 40K: sweeping the entirety of OP-artists' notebooks into a tumbler and extruded lore of impeccable narrative.

    Damn, i remember Galaxy of Terror, was awesome, but mostly scary and disburting. Didnt know the name in the long time so, i remembered that movie with no name until like 10 years ago i found the name by chance lol. That giant maggot scene is one of the burnt imagery into my brain since i was a kid.
