Superb production again Jon with excellent visuals and narration. Your hard work is very much appreciated, thank you.
Thanks for the video (I'm catching up), a very handy refresher on NDB tracking for a long-lapsed IMC holder & timely reminder of the 1 in 60 principle.
Another quality video, Jon. Thanks for posting. Always enjoyed your stuff since I discovered your channel, but the recent videos in particular have been of a very high production quality. Great work :)
+Nick T cheers Nick.
Really enjoyed the production values on this one - keep em coming!!
+Max Batley thanks Max.
Another excellent video. Did my NDB hold with ILS/missed approach for my initial IMC test at Southend. Great memories. Thanks.
+ALFOX58 thank YOU for watching.
Thank you for the video it was very informative. I only wish I watched this before my RNAV exam it was great to see the hold’s carried out and thank you for the rule of thumb for x-winds
Best video yet Jon. Nice editing too.
Cheers Andy.
Thank you for your information regarding the ILS - NDB - APP 👍
Great video once again :) keep it up! It also very interesting to watch you fly an ils approach so close to my home!
Thanks Harry.
Editing style is great on this mate!
+Plane Old Ben thank you Ben. Means a lot.
Interesting video! THanks very much for posting it.
You're welcome.
Great video and very informative as always
+Dave Etheridge thank you Dave.
You are the best, John
+Jorge Mardini #blush
Excellent as always - thanks
Thank YOU!
great video, and a help for IFR training!
Thanks.
Currently saving my money for the PPL your videos really keep me going and focused on it, can’t wait until I finally begin flying may even do my introductory flight soon at Biggin Hill :)
It was a great place to learn.
The Flying Reporter I have heard it is one of the best, and they have the Piper’s which is my preferable plane.
Great video.. I look forward to doing my IR/R hopefully next year...
+Andrew Cumiskey good foe you Andrew. It's well worth it.
I so want to post my own videos but with the production quality of yours Jon I'd look like a total rookie. About to start hinting cameras down, going to record my flights and see how it goes. Keep up the excellent work!
Yes I think the same you just are not really smart, so yes guess your production look like trash. Can feel this.
Great video as usual!
Thanks for watching.
thank u 👍
Nice work, love the inclusion of skydemon tracks and the southend approach chart. really helps to picture what's going on. You make the ndb tracking, hold and approach look easy - I bet it's not ! :)
Thanks Dave. It's not so hard, ONCE you've got the hang of it.
Started my IRR lessons recently. Watched this again as hopefully heading to Southend in a couple of lesson to do the NDB hold and ILS approach, good to hear the R/T too. Nicely flown!
Pleased to hear it Dave. They're great over at Southend.
Great vid. I was taught to sync the rotating card on the ADF with your DI heading it is a lot less confusing and there's less mental gymnastics involved.
Thanks. That's another way to do it..
What do you mean by that? I need a little help with ndb approaches, could you please elaborate
love the video. I'm flying out of Lydd doing my training. I would love a video on circuits.
Thanks James. Good luck with the training.
Reference the max drift question, the rule of thumb I use is:
"At 90KTS, max drift is 2/3 of the wind speed".
I used the method to answer the question and approximated it to be about 12.5 degrees which is close enough.
Well done Jon, another great video and I would say your objective of NDB illustration was well met with clear descriptions and illustrations. Your SkyDemon trace showed accurate and consistent flying. Was it me or does the voice on the Pilot aware sound like a young boy? Thought you might have given Bertie a new job! :)
Thanks Tim. There's an idea!
Excellent
Thanks for watching.

Great video as always, your my favourite subscription on UA-cam at the moment as I'm getting back into single pilot IFR flying.
Quick question, do you call Southend and Lydd before getting in the air to ask for the approaches or do you just rock up and request them then? Secondly, do you need to pay for these practice instrument approaches since you're not actually landing?
Cheers,
Toby
+Toby Bennett Hi. for practise approaches, you call to book. If it's IMC you'd just follow normal PPR procedures.
+Toby Bennett and yes...you have to pay.
Great video !
Just a little thing : max drift is wind*60/TAS not airspeed ..
Have a nice day !
I've got a flying lesson at Biggin Hill next Tuesday!
Wow. Good luck!
Thanks!
Going back to hold, where did the the number 3 come from? (9x3=27)
very nice sir , which app you using on ipad ??
hassaan zahid He uses SkyDemon
Lydd is very a scenic location and not far from the White Cliffs of Dover
It is, if a bit desolate.
If your going north at 100 knots with 20 knot crosswind going at 20 knots i believe you will have to deviate left 8.181
Please can you explain how you have connected in the audio from PilotAware? And what will happen when PilotAware is giving an audio report at the same time as for example ATC are communicating with you - will they step on each other? I note you had to switch it off - have you set up the configuration of PAW with your aircraft ICAO Hex-ID so that PAW ignores 1090mhz transmissions from your own transponder? This MAY be your problem? Thanks for the video.
+Roger Luff hi. It's an audio cable out of PAW into the aircrafts intercom system. It mutes when intercom is active or there's an ATC call. I haven't set it up, so don't know about the config. Jon
+Roger Luff apparently the hex code is set. We were late with a firmware upgrade. That has fixes it. J
Great - looking forward to seeing how you get on with PAW once it is kept connected etc. Thanks.
