At a certain point you accumulate so much stuff that you have to go back and start opening boxes to figure out what you've got. This current stay home situation is great for that. Fun little video, looking forward to the next one.
I could tell you a few things about the American trains, I recognized the colors of the Union Pacific boxcar (yellow and silver), it's all HO (Half O-scale) -scale, the most common here in the USA. N-scale is the next size down, followed by Z-scale which is so tiny that a locomotive could make a nice adornment for a tie-clasp. Cheers from across the pond, sir!
Oh man, it was always incredible to pull out big utility totes or old shoeboxes and rummage through all of the ancient toy-trains that used to be loved by an imaginative boy or hadn't been touched because of economic failures forcing a move. Even after all these years, still a great joy, more so when the trains still work.
Nice vid, loving the content and loving your models. I’ve got a loft full of G-Gauge LCB track and rolling stock that once I’m in a house with a better garden I plan on moving outdoors permanently.
What a fun collection you've found, I love that B1 and all the interesting little wagons you've found. Should make for a fun layout! I once found a green Triang Princess... ...Tender in a box in a barn once along with a few of the coaches with the big flanges.
Fun fact- the Thomas model came first! They used their Thomas molding to make a variety of those Bachmann starter engines, including a Percy type, a J94 type, and a diesel meant to resemble a class 03/4? Crazy range, also super hard to find now
Nice video , nice collection that you have there. Love model trains , it made me open my train sets again and give a go on the locomotives . You all stay safe
I can tell you the Hornsby green 040 and red tool wagon are out of the 90's industrial rail freight set. Depending on year this would vary. Looks like a good collection :) I was fortunate I inherited my granddad's trains and a friends collection so I recognise the joy of opening up. Looking forward to the station set :)
this is reminiscent of me going through my N gauge stuff. Last count I had about 60 locos and I can't remember buying half of them!! would be nice to see a follow up video of these running, and maybe a vid of you servicing them before trying?
Years after a rather traumatic experience I ran across my old “O” gauge train. It now gathers dust in my garage as I need to work on the engine. My grandson will enjoy it when I get it running again. Looking forward to your upcoming trial runs and of course, the box.
I'm enjoying this Lawrie, reminds me of when I was starting out with models that were in a similar condition to yours. Brought back some great memories, thanks. I do hope it is bringing you plenty of joy during this lock down, take care mate. :)
As someone who repairs old model trains for fun, I'd hazard that (barring any burned out motors or missing/damaged parts) A thorough cleaning, and lubrication, will put all those little locomotives back in business! Funny enough the "Thomas loco" reminds me of my own experience, I found an O scale Thomas for dirt cheap at a thrift store, and bought it. I don't prefer my trains with faces on them, but I recalled all the locomotive characters originally from "the railway series" were based upon real locomotives/locomotive classes. After some searching, I found that Thomas is loosely modeled after a Class E2 tank. Real E2s never had the splashers over the leading drivers, and were less stumpy in appearance, but I decided regardless, to work on turning my "Thomas" into a representation of a class E2 in BR black livery with red trim. I haven't done much with it, besides a test paint job I will need to redo anyway, but hopefully at some point I round that project off.
can't wait to see how they all run. it's amazing what you find when you look in the attic. hopefully they all still run, they look nice. my favorites are the long ones, but i'm routing for the 'thomas the tank engine' insperation.
The "British Railways" 040 is based on a class that had 2 locos built as industrial shunters for an Iron works in Wales (If I remember correctly) had they survived I could see you using one on the middy!
I envy you some of these items, but they are quite lovely and I look forward to seeing them in action - especially the yellow Mainline tanker, always loved those
go on, that scrap triang engine looks like it needs some love. a look through ebay will turn up any spares you need. a good quarantine project and they are great little engines. not detailed but with their own charm and character.
Im currently building a train layout for my grandson its taken me about 2 years to build as i believe that every child should have a trainset it beats sitting in front of the television with a playstation or xbox and is lots more fun collecting more accessories to enhance the layout
Some nice finds there pal, think the locos I've got is flying scotsman with light up fire box and exhaust sound (my dads) a GWR Pannier tank (My dads) the duchess of Sutherland in LMS livery and a little 3 wheel LNER tank engine. Got various coaches and wagons mostly all my dads old stuff hahahaha keep it up
Wonderful haul! If it is a runner could you mount a small Go-Pro on beat up pug? It would make for a very interesting live feed possibly. Also, have you any interest in video games? There’s a game called TrainStation that I run that is pretty entertaining. I wouldn’t knock the American stuff too much or you’ll catch a good kidding from everyone when you get to come back to this side of the pond. Thank for sharing this with us!
For the full 1960's Triang Hornby Super 4 layout experience you need all the action accessories plus the Minic Motorways OO electric roadways system. Guaranteed to make the average middle aged generation X adult live out their childhood dreams.
when you had the train set boxes out, i spotted three sets that we happen to have shared over time :P also the billy engine, it will run superbly well, despite the colour scheme, and it was something bachmann did cheekily at the time which got them into a bit of trouble as the percy tooling as also used, what makes it sad though is percy could have had a front coupling as the junior not-percy had a front coupling
The Triang Princess should run as they're so resilient plus built in Britain (properly!!). I have a pre-Triang Rovex Princess with the plunger pickups, plastic drive wheels and the Zenith (Later X01) disc commutator motor which run just fine on even Peco Streamline track.
In quarantine you find alot of stuff. A real Belgian NMBS class 59 engine i worked on with a team to restore to running order sadly was destroyed by arcen at the NMBS depot in 1996. The big Turbo i rebuilded for the restoration i still have in a big box after salvaging it from the remains. To my Surprise when i opened the box after all those years a Roco N gauge locomotive with the same number as the real locomotive and was carefully packed in the intake of the turbo! How i got that model baffels me and yes it runs after all those years!
Enjoyed the vid! This is me when I find something that I haven't seen for a while :D. I agree although I don't mind American I prefer British 00. Are you planning on making a set layout somewhere?
When do you think you're going to go through some of that American Rolling Stock cuz I would be quite interested to see what most of it is and what parts and pieces you got if you could find a tender for that one steam engine and get it fixed I think you would be all right. I work on a lot of American Rolling Stock in HO scale and somewhat oo gauge locomotives
I know it includes a bit of digressing on your part, but some of us across the pond would like to see the N.A. rollingstock. John BC, Canada P.s. You've a nice "Little" collection as well as your "Big" collection.
If I'm not mistaken, it's meant to represent a Drummond 0-4-0 industrial shunter, and it looks to me like it was based on Tri-ang's "Nellie" though to be correct, there were three 'sisters' in the set (Red, Black and Blue) but I can't remember the names of the other two, though I think the black one might have been called 'Polly' - Nellie was the blue one of the three, and later on, Hornby introduced a green version, but I think it was numbered, rather than named. However, they're all the same engine, and are near identikit to this one, but far better detailed.
Very cool stuff! You should show the American stuff since some of us like that. Also recommend you watch a youtube channel called Budget Model Railways. Interesting builder channel.
Well, my verdict is that you put the American stock on top of the box as a burglar deterrent to stop would-be model railway thieves from thinking there was anything good in it.
That's so sad, and I'll admit that when I was offered an American train set (built by Hornby), I passed on it, but on later reflection, I thought "Yes, I could make a wild west layout, a sort of 'Prairie Buster' railroad". When I returned to the seller's shop - It was gone! So someone over here (UK) does buy American marketed stuff.
@@lmm Well, why not put a video up about it? I know there are a number of us Yankees here that should be able to help provide information on what you have. Also while I do model mostly North American, it is fun to dabble in foreign equipment (A little Tri-ang, Hornby, Roco and Rivarossi O-scale) every once in a while.
TheAreotrain ......yes that’s a fabulous idea. Us railfans on the other side of the pond would love to see what he has.....and help identify. Surely there’s a Santa Fe loco in there somewhere lol. Fingers crossed
Great video as always and also what’s wrong with American stuff? I love American stuff. Also keep up the great work. Also glory to the LMS. Also I have that E2 but in red From Hannah

They are horrid things.
The thing that was percy is almost acceptable as a small shunting engine.

Did I just here someone say that they were not as exited to see a box with American modle trains!
I bet if he spotted an HO scale Big Boy he wouldn't have just set it aside, lol.
Idk about you but I would not be exited. Besides Lionel I only collect British trains
@@Scioneer ya lol

Hi Lawrie. I like the Black Five and hope it survives the running test!
i went up in my grandparents attic and got a postwar lionel desel train set.
Love this series so far! Looking forward to see what runs!
I’m just surprised that your freightliner wagons haven’t warped, unlike most on the planet!

great haul im always exited when i find old/new stuff from Fleischmann H0 Train stuff (Fleischmann is a german model railway producer)
Can’t wait to see the layout!
I am trying to decide whose youtube model railway unboxing session is better Sam's trains or Lawries.
It's fun unboxing items you forgot about.
*Old Smoky!* Wow that brought back some childhood catalogue browsing memories.
I envy you some of these items, but they are quite lovely and I look forward to seeing them in action - especially the yellow Mainline tanker, always loved those
Excellent Video, and yep, I have re-discovered a treasure
Great collection!
Old stuff in good condition!
You will need to clean them out!
And hopefully the trains will still run.
Great video, Love the series, Can't wait for more!
It's fun seeing you rediscover your trains. Did you know hornby makes a model Ruston 48s?

Loving the series hope to see more videos soon 😁
I had the Pug when I was a kid. I would make it pull way too many wagons than it was probably designed to but it always did it..
Cool, look forward to seeing them running 😊 or not 😂
Lawrie. That black LMS pug thats missing its cab, if you want to you can buy replacement cabs of ebay.
Great video : )
Hey Laurie, long time no see, great to see your UA-cam channel is doing well
The LMS pug tank loco you've got is similar to the one I had when I was in my teens. It was in a local freight set called The Midland Belle.
A 37 on 3 Pullmans. Dream combination.
Not really railway related, but we were clearing out the garden shed and came across many many boxes of lego!
You forgot about the bin of trains in your attic because you were busy playing with the REAL TOY TRAINS! Meaning life sized ones of course. 👍😎
Lovley stuff Lawrie!
I love me some model loco stuff, hope to see more!

Id say the black 5 and the princess Elizabeth were the best things in there

I have the Bachmann diesel variant of this loco called harry. I brought it as it's in NCB blue colour and may receive NCB decals.
"There's only so much you can do with one!" - But Lawrie, that's why you add another, and another, and another....oops.
You have the old smokey set?! That was my first train set that I got almost a year ago
Green Shark that was my first set too 8 years ago

Good haul you have found there! But please, save the Hall class from the scrapper's. I'd love to see it restored.
The sequel is as overdue as Half Life 3. This video even has a cliffhanger in it, and it’s the second one!
Hey Lawrie, really loving these little loco vids.
Hornby have recently come out with a Ruston 48ds loco (R3704).
Thought it might interest you.
👍👍
Put the Loco that is "scrapped" and the wagon that doesn’t have couplers and than the one that has one coupler on a siding.
The black 5 is the same as the train used from Fort William to Mallaig?

First thought in my mind; Dai Woodham, Barry, South Wales!
you have the London transport metrolpolian set with a exgwr pannier set ?
The Hornby 0-4-0s will run. Basically indestructible.
Princess Royal pulling the Triang midland red coaches please. Proper!!

Very cool stuff! You should show the American stuff since some of us like that. Also recommend you watch a youtube channel called Budget Model Railways. Interesting builder channel.
Have you thought about getting the Hornby Ruston 48? I believe they have one in the same livery as your own!
I have been asking Hornby to get in touch with Lawrie on their UA-cam channel to actually make his loco into a actual model.
I have the red ‘2005’ Bachman starter E2 but it hasn’t got a motor and one of the buffers is broke
What company made the Thomas and friends truck? Or can you not tell
Any triple rail electric r matching clockwork tin railway items?
I've got that Mainline Steam set Although the loco needs servicing
Good set!
You should buy a brand new Ruston 48 model train from Hornby for your layout I have one and it is a great little model train
Well, my verdict is that you put the American stock on top of the box as a burglar deterrent to stop would-be model railway thieves from thinking there was anything good in it.
A wheel carrying truck that, ironically, appears to be missing some wheels, judging by the rather low-rider stance at one end...
COuld you make a video covering the American stuff you have recieved?
i have a question if 2 Two train boxes are 15€ how much is the whole box of trains
Coming soon...
