It's not the gangs like in the usa, but big family clans and mafia like structures . Its a thing in Germany for mamy years now. Not as dangerous as gangs but involved in very big crimes
@@Tobonocom 1. Es sind aber relativ wenige und 2. Sind es fast nur Bands aus den 80ern, 90ern und Anfang der 2000er. Zu wenig neue Bands die den Durchbruch schaffen und bekannt werden
Germany does not have classical gangs like in the US. We have a lot of Clans and motorycle clubs. The music hiphop/trap/rap style mostly started in the poor regions of germany and worked itself up when dancehall became popular. A lot of these german rapper are associated to the MCs/clans.
Cro is one artist and he wears a panda mask to hide his identity, no one knows who he is and it was a big part of why he was so popular. Plus his musik was really popular with like 13-14 year old girls. I remember how my friends and I used to have a crush on him. Or at least no one knew, I think his identity was leaked a few years ago, but I'm not sure if it was really him or fake
As a nearly 50 year old German woman I had a good chuckle when you mentioned Techno. That was not even close to Techno, I guess the term Eurodance fits better. Trust me, I lived through the birth of Techno… Also, comparing Die Toten Hosen to Green Day? Not sure. Die Toten Hosen were founded in 1982 (they basically have been around all my life - fond memories of scream-singing along to „Hier kommt Alex“ in 8th grade 😁) Green Day was ( at least here in Germany) more of a 90s thing.
"Very Green Day-ish"?! The "Toten Hosen" were already popular in Germany, when Green Day was still in diapers... 2012 was their 30 year anniversary! Two years ago, was their 40 year anniversary and their compilation album for the occasion was number 1 in the German charts for 17(!) weeks.
Yeah, you can see kind of the sharp edge, where music started to fall off a cliff and Autotune Hip Hop became popular and widely considered an actual type of music. May as well do it 100% AI at that point. Would save everyone from dealing with those self-important, talentless pricks that deem themselves artists (and/or hardcorce gangsters, depending on who they talk to). But it's a good deal for them... Become rich quick and all you have to do is lie, do as you told by your label, help them rip off the simple minded and make those already simple enough to like you, fall behind even further by praising attitudes that can only bring unemployment and struggles to make ends meet down the road.
Due to declining birth rates among the natives and a large wave of immigration since 2015, this gang culture has become increasingly stronger. In fact, there it is no longer German culture in this charts I would say.
These kind of charts are very influenced by gen z and what they click on social media, but the older generations dont even know most this shitty german rap. Fortunately there is much more then this. For example try the band Annenmaykantereit. Their singer has such a unique voice and their songs in german has also beautiful great lyrics. For example this one "Ausgehen" ua-cam.com/video/IYs0zCE55OI/v-deo.htmlsi=_oIrzEjjRwApo79D
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT!!! German Hip Hop CAN be awesome... Sido, Fanta 4, Fettes Brot, Massive Töne, Dame, Alligatoah, Megaloh, Cr7z... And even Apache207 got something.... But Capital Bra, Kitschkrieg, Samra, Bushido, SXTN, Kollegah, 187 Bullshit, Ufo361, Bausa and whatever those wannabes are called... Total trash. Since 2016/17 German Hip Hop was a bigger mess than 9/11 or America between 2017 and 2021...
German charts nowadays are pretty shitty, as you already noticed. There's still good music produced in Germany, but they don't reach the charts anymore.

This is a panda, the mask and not a dog. I don't know if you've seen my dog in your life but no dogs are like that.😅
cro, its a panda mask
I agree, it started slowly around 2017. It certainly has something to do with Covid!?... this German rap music is like a fever dream!
You are so right!!! The German music scene died with that "Hip-Hop"
Check out Electric Callboy from Germany and a few videos , you will be surprised for sure .
