Thanks to Ron for doing this song! - This is one of the songs of my life... A really well performed version. Thanks for this being online. (Where to get "hi-resolution-version" of this for my "HiFi"@home?- THNX)
Ron Kavana is a hero and rebel. He's version of this song is outstanding. The Pogues and Jem Finer's version are meek and streamlined compared to the original!
Beautiful. His introduction to the song though? There's an awful lot of Brits that understand Irish history and despise British colonialism, Cromwell is not a figure I'm proud of, rot in hell indeed.
Great song but not very historical. The events described in Ned of the Hills as far as can be deducted from historical sources occurred in 1702. Cromwell died in 1659, 11 years before Eamonn a' Chnoic / Ned of the Hills was born.
I was a little taken aback by his preamble, and surely he knows that the English themselves haven't cared much for Cromwell since 1660? ! The dude was a genocidal dictator., got what he deserved, unlike our man Kavana here.
I CANT believe this performance has so few view, this is just incredibly great
My favourite Irish song. Best version in my opinion.

Home fires is a great song by this guy, but I love this video

Oliver Cromwell was from Huntingdon not Liverpool.
No shit mate!! I meant that I was sending the comment from Liverpool. I am well aware that the murderous prick wasn't from here!! :)
