I’ve read a lot of absorbing memoirs but this one had me in its grip on every page. The writing is also astonishing - poetic and evocative to stunning effect.
It was a woman who introduced the Great Bob Marley to Rastafarianism. Thus this idea that the woman is silent in the Rastafarian community is o misnomer. I won't be surprised that it is Safiya's upbringing as a Rasta Queen that gave her the mold to be excellent in her art. Babylon must fall for the ske of mankind.
Based on her dad's actions, I think he suffered from undiagnosed bi polar or schizophrenia, so happy she survived, is thriving & telling her Herstory...☮💝📚💫💫
You were able to diagnose her father's mental state within a 7 minute interview from his daughters brief perspective? As we would say in Jamaica " bwoy, fi unnu good"
Absolutely, these story this girl is telling here is made up exaggerated lies to sell a story. She’s fake this is a put-together interview, and a waste of time to watching. It makes no sense, she is speaking about a lifestyle she knows nothing about. I could imagine the samething goes for her book "trash". A big disrespect to the Rastafarian culture/community's. She is Null and void.
Hmm! She can only tell about her lived experience. As someone who has family and friends who profess to be Rastafarians, I see some parallels with her life and theirs. But it is very important to acknowledge that each household "interprets" the tenants of their faith differently and therefore practice it accordingly. So for some, it is religious way of life, whilst for others its just a culture.
Fully agree, she's here embarrassing this piece of Jamaican cultural legacy. She's fake, with her fake emotions and her unforseen trauma when speaking. Advise you're not living that lifestyle anymore so just move on. "FACTS"

I believe Jenna did a term paper on Jamaican dancehall? I saw where she went to the deep hood under cover at night, don't remember what year that was?
