- Actress Brie Larson plays author Jeannette Walls in the new film “The Glass Castle,” based on Walls’ best-selling memoir about her dysfunctional family. Walls tells Kathie Lee that she thought she would become a “pariah” when the book was published; instead she had a “dream come true” by being played by an Oscar-winning actress.

Brie Larson And Jeannette Walls Tell TODAY About ‘The Glass Castle’ | TODAY
it was NOT the best they could do. They were sitting on about a million dollars of land that the mother selfishly didn't sell to take care of their children. They did not take care of their children as best they could.

Exactly what i was thinking
I agree 100% but I think she mean't was in THEIR MENTAL STATE, they did the best they could
The Rose Mary we meet in the movie looks like freakin Mary Poppins next to the real thing! The real Rose Mary would go out and buy herself big chocolate bars while her children were _starving_ and no she didn't share them!
EXACTLY THEY DIDNT DO THE BEST THEY COULD!!! There were hopeful beautiful moments with the father and the kids but the entire story was so sad and hard it is words I can’t even describe it’s so sad the father died I mean I cried really hard it’s so hard to say if he was an entirely bad man I don’t really think he was all bad and same with the mother. They didn’t do the best they could have there was always more to do especially with all that money I wish the father wasn’t a drunk and they took the money and supported the kids and weren’t selfish everything would have been so much better.
I disagree a lot with what the interviewer said. They did not do everything they could for their kids. Has this lady read the book?
Brie Larson and Woody Harrleson were so brilliant in their roles as Jeannette and Rex Walls respectively , i hope the get nominated for an oscar
I have no idea what went wrong with critics but I felt it's a good film especially the performances of Brie Larson and Woody Harrleson and also the Cinematography is spectacular
How did her parents do the best they could do when they both kept willfully leaving their jobs, buying candy and alcohol, and just mainly being all around selfish? I don't like the sanitization that's being forced her, the rawness of the story is what makes it so powerful.
They did not do the best they could do!! The story is not only about a family living in poverty but about extremely neglectful parents that took money from their kids, let them starve, ignored their sexual abuse, chose not to work when there was no food in the house, and they were basically sitting land worth on a million dollars the whole time!
I agree. It's because Ms. Walls was able to weave all these dark elements into the work that I had to see it twice. It is truly masterful and profoundly sad.
The parts of the book where he stated that Brian “could take it, he’s a man.” Absolutely insane. I couldn’t get past that.
Brie gives an amazing, brutally raw, and hit the target performance in this difficult book adaptation .
It was so obvious the interviewer had not read the book. I just finished reading it and Jeannette’s parents DID NOT do the best they could, the children survived the best they could based on the horrendous circumstances 😢
The guy in the beginning lmao.
But another note, I am so excited! My favorite book is turning into a movie.
ayyyyyyyyyyy same
Jeannate is almost 60 and looks GREAT!
That thing Jeannette said about being seen as a pariah for telling her story, I definitely understand! A lot of times when people are honest about their misfortunes people will feign sympathy or pity but really stop seeing the individual as a person and judge them harshly and will also just be grateful its not their problem.
Brie you are a gift, truly. Thank you for the way in which you carry yourself and approach your work. God bless.
Just saw the film ... good job, all! And the book has been one of my favourites for years now.
This really was a good book. I just got done reading it for my American Lit class.
Great movie. Nice to see Hollywood actually make a REAL film.
The movie left so much out. Read the book instead.
Just saw the movie and it was very good and very emotional.
Brie looks so beautiful here woah literally a goddess
Poor parenting is all I’ve seen on this moving but the kids did everything to survive and succeeded from that nightmare.
Why is no one talking about the guy who popped out lmao
I just watched the movie, amazing!
(Brie is dope)
They did not do the best they could do. They abused you.
The book is great
Brie Larson was absolutely brilliant in that role 🥰
Wow brie larson super stunning beautiful and gifted actress like your acting in room, the glass castle :)))
The movie glass castle it is amazing espiecally beautiful oscar winner brie larson had a amazing performance yeah love the movie i watch it 20 times :)))
Instead of being burned at three I almost drowned at three XD
They defiently took wayy too much out of the book. They got rid of some of my most favorite parts, and even sections!!
Just wondering why she didn't fulfill her father's dream by building the glass castle. He gave them a better childhood than he ever had.
Brie Larson looks like Emily Blunt.
Mamin Marvel no, I think she looks like Sigourney Weaver
@@juliansydney9819 nope, she looks like an OSCAR winner
Of Brasil.
What are these people talking about? The parents were awful and so was the forced forgivness ending which is pretty unwatchable.....
