- It's a Clone of the Tamiya Ford F350 High Lift, but is it any good? I'm a big fan of the Tamiya Clones from HG. They provide those that are Tamiya fans a cheap option if you can't afford the $450 price tag of a real one!

In the US there was a show call "The Fall Guy" back in the 80's. This truck reminds me of the truck on that show.
Tamiya probably makes them for them. They did that for several companies in the 80’s and 90’s. Their qd line was the first they did that with. They made qd midnight pumpkin clones for radio shack/Tandy.. I’ve got several of them and the Tamiya version.

Definately remove the rear steer and replace it with the 4 link set up,that should eliminate that dodgy tail wandering. Adding the larger wheels and tyres will help with the lack of ground clearance too Phil.

Great one sir I had the Tamiya version about 16 years ago, time flies. The back did tilt probably for radio and speaker option. Tires always seem smallish, mine had a loud gearbox. I always wanted Tamiya to install interior. Thanks for sharing sir.👌

Very interesting to see the changes they made, like the extra light buckets on the front bumper and the slightly changed tilting bed mounts. Looks like those mounts are a bit taller than the original. Side mirrors also seem better.
Yes, I remember my mirrors breaking off quite easily, these have springs to allow them to bend
I have several HG trucks and in my opinion they're pretty good rigs for the money. I use to have the F-350 high lift also. Got it when it first came out and the bed tipped like this HG version. Though the tamiya version gearbox sounded much much quieter 😄.
I think my Tamiya F350 may of had the tipping bed, I just don't remember it. HG do make some good stuff.... they also make a few really bad ones!
Extra connector on the esc pigtail is probably for a fan or lights.

That's a beautiful truck but like you said it definitely needs those new tires. them tires actually made the truck when you put them on they look great.
1984.. cost me like 500$ for kit.. NOT READY TO RUN.. lol & you put it together.. over 900-1000$ (usd) for full kit with sound & lights.. lol
Where can I get some Chevron V monster truck tires. And Bigfoot stickers? Then all I need is maybe a 6 channel radio. So I can steer each end separately. And add a servo to tilt the bed. Like a 80's monster truck.

On the original Tamiya truck the bed does tilt back. Also the original Tamiya truck was also designed for the vibration unit. It does not look this clone is set-up for that. Probably not very important. Thoughts?
Not sure about the vibration unit... but this is pretty much exactly the same as the Tamiya
The sound is a bit much. Curious to see the video of greasing the gear box up.

Technically, this body is from the Juggernaut 1 and 2. Tamiya loves to recycle their RC’s using chassis, parts and bodies from different RC models and then they will make it a new RC model line. Nothing new, but effective way to make money!!!☺️

I did upgrade to bigger wheels but i have a problem because it hasn't have a ESC/throttle break so if you climbing the truck is rolling back as soon you let go of the throttle so that is very disappointing.

If it's made on the same tooling, in the same factory, by the same people then it's a de-badge rather than a clone, imo.

Can't want to pull the trigger... Every since I 1st saw this truck in the 90's, I can't get over the size of the axle pumpkins. Granted the price on the HG knock off's are appealing to say the least..

Can you please help me my controllers are reverses and yes I can just switch the reverse button but its not accurate when using lights and engine sound as the reverse is forward and forward is reverse

I bought one, the noise is horrible. I sold it again and bought an original Tamiya. Such a difference. I cannot recommend to buy one if you really want to use it.

@@TomleyRC Would you be able too try some monster truck wheels on this with some hex wideners for clearing the body & general chassis when steering ? Suggested it on the toyota hilux previously but im not sure you saw it.
build a kind of mud truck out of it, would be a bit different & gear ratios are very high so it has torque anyway.

Great video,not my kind of truck i am afraid, i like mine to perform,and this seems a lil lacking in that respect. The new tyre and wheel combo looks good. The body looks good, but the lack of ground clearance rules this out for me, and like you i am not really a fan of 4 wheel steer, great on a stadium monster truck, but i would rather have a "dig" for trailing/crawling.
Yes, not really much 'cop' for a trail/crawler. But it's true to the original Tamiya...which was also crap haha

I bought them second hand so not sure what wheels they are. But the tyres are Proline Hyrax Class 1

Main gear is tumbling a bit. Horrible quality. I changed it to original Tamiya spare parts. Better but not good. The original Tamiya gearbox is so much smoother.

1- leave 3rd gear speed alone - no change shaft
1- front flat plain axle - no drive 4x4
1- only rear axle drive
1- three channel for LED top headlight

I thought all the Tamiya High Lift trucks had a hinging pick-up body including the Hilux? Simply, battery access on the P417 is really awkward because it doesn't have this feature. Could you connect your battery on the P417 without removing the body?

Is it possible to run this with a 3S lipo? Thank you for the review. I have already pulled a trigger on this. It seems the price for Tamiya and HG P serious have gone up quite a bit.
Yes, should run a 3s. Not tried it myself, but I’ve seen others do it

On the other High Lift model I defintely liked the bigger tires, but being this is an F-350, I think the smaller tires look better and more scale. Mainly because the real F-350 tires also look small and stupid 😂

@@TomleyRC Yeah my mate Andrew had a madcap and even though my manta ray was 4wd I was impressed by his car. Was way faster but mine was stock and he had good batteries an esc and modified motor. Mad caps are cool, basically the same as an astute I think.
