    Hey Winnie!
    My program offered by my university is 3 years long instead of 4 years. Would that be a problem while applying?

      Hi Shlok! Is the 3 years standard for everyone in your university? Or are you graduating early due to having a sufficient number of credits?

      @@shloktotla8721 I see, then that should not be a problem. I recommend checking the eligibility criteria for the deferred program you're applying to. Sometimes it will say that you have to be in the last year of your program.

    Hi Winnie! Im currently going into my junior year of undergrad and am decided that Id like to apply for the deferred MBA programs Universities have to offer. Currently my top 5 picks are HBS, Wharton UPenn, Stanford GSB, Columbia GSB and Chicago Booth Scholars Deferred Program (this is since Ive read that GMAT offers 5 free test score sends). To this I have a question, does each business school have a fixed GMAT code or do they change/vary every year? If they are fixed, where do i get these codes? Also, when do you recommend taking the GMAT for students looking to do their deferred MBA, and how long does it take one to usually prepare (I do understand everyone is different but in a normal situation)? Last question Id like to ask as of now, is do all business schools require the same application requirements such as 2 Essays, 2 Letters of Recommendation, College Transcripts, GMAT, and Resume. Or do some require more than just that. I ask this since Ive looked into the Stanford GSB application and it does not mention essays in the application process but when I search up does Stanford require essays Google says "Yes, 2 essays (with so and so prompts)" I do not understand which to believe or if they all require the same prerequisites. Thank you soo much for taking your time in reading this! Looking forward to ur Reply.

      Hi Jay, that's great you're already thinking ahead to apply for deferred programs! Each school should have a fixed GMAT code; I believe after you take the exam, it'll reveal your score of which you can accept or cancel and then search which schools you want to send the scores to. It's fairly simple like a google search though if you do have time to take a quick look at the bschool's codes, the school you want to pick may look more familiar to you on test day in case some schools have similar names! (upenn vs Penn state, Chicago univ vs. UChi Booth vs. UChi college) - again, totally optional. You can find the codes on the school website.
      For example, Chicago Booth's page: www.chicagobooth.edu/mba/full-time/admissions/how-to-apply
      It states, "We will not need your official test scores until you have been admitted and have accepted our offer of admission. To make your official test scores available to us, please send your GMAT scores using code H9X-9F-34 or your GRE scores using code 0685. Scores are valid for five years."
      I recommend taking the GMAT as early as possible when you are ready! It costs money for the exam so definitely take time to prep well beforehand. Some people end up taking it more than once to see if they can get a better score/challenge themselves so that's why I encourage you to buffer in time for that. If we're talking real last minute, then do it 1-2 months before the application deadline at the latest since you want your scores to be sent in time. I think people generally take 3-9 months to prepare but if you like to take your time, then 1-2 years even!
      Most business schools have similar requirements as you've listed. The only difference may be a video essay. I believe Stanford requires two essays: 1) what matters most to you and why? 2) why stanford?
      It uses the same app as a regular mba applicant. Links here:

    Hey Winnie, thanks for the information,can u tell us how much time did it take for your admission process also from when did you start building profile for the deff MBA?

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  Рік тому +2

      Sure! I'd say the earlier the better! If you already have that goal in sight, starting early can only help. Typically, I'd recommend 1-2 years to build up that profile because it's all about how you tell your story and what led you to become interested in business school. It could be entrepreneurship for some or management / people coaching for others. If you take a more organic approach, I'm sure whatever clubs or classes you end up joining that relates to your passions will be fine! As long as you demonstrate commitment and leadership over the years as well as how it ties into your future professional / personal goals, that's all you need :)

    Hey,I still have 2 years to graduate. How do I start building my profile?

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  Рік тому +1

      hey Shreeya! Great question. I would recommend getting involved with clubs you're passionate about and taking on leadership positions when possible. Not that different from extracurriculars in high school, actually :) In addition, think about why business school or higher education in particular interests you. Try to sit in on a business class if you can or participate in business related clubs/events/conferences. I've heard some students become teaching assistants for professors or help out in some way in their school's business school so that could be another way to get more insight into what to expect there. Overall, this will help you hone in on what you want to learn at bschool to achieve your long-term career goals!

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  Рік тому +1

      Also, think of who you'd like to be your recommenders early! Make sure you get to know professors as you would probably need at least one academic recommendation, (and the other from a supervisor from internship/job) depending on the program you apply to

      @@Wonder.Winnie thanks a lot Winnie! I just had one more question for you. Is it necessary to get fancy internships(internships at top firms like Deloitte etc)to get into a top b school? Because where I live here in India,they don’t really offer summer internships to students still currently in undergrad but the local firms do offer.

    • @Wonder.Winnie

      @@shreeyakawade2433 Having a recognizable brand name can help as it's a company that many people are familiar with. But I wouldn't say that "it's the end all, be all" or that you have no chance without it. For local firms, as long as you get relevant experience and make an impact, it would be fine! Some people add a line on their resume to briefly explain what the company is/does if it's a very small company

    Any advice on how to frame the Why MBA/Why Now/Why Booth question as someone who doesn't have a full-time job lined up after graduation?

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  8 місяців тому

      Sure thing! Thanks for watching :) I recommend focusing more on the business school experience and what you can gain from the academics (i.e., classes/clubs/programs). Since you don't have a job lined up yet, focus on what additional learnings would complement your undergraduate education (what are you missing? Wish you had more knowledge of? Topics you want to dig deeper into?)
      As for Why Now, think of your life timeline - one tip is to sketch it out on paper :D Where are you now, where you do want to go and how long will it take you to get there. What are some things you view as essential to know now / skills you have to build now in order to take that next step or next career path, and ultimately how it can help you get to your dream job.
      Why Booth - I think this can be answered in a variety of ways even if you are not 100% clear on your professional path yet as it relates more to the school. Kind of like how you determine your college and being undecided on a major.
      Does that help? Let me know if more questions come up :)
      If you haven't already checked out my other video yet, I do touch on the topics you mentioned here and in my other essay writing videos too: ua-cam.com/video/jivSrh7j_Is/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  9 місяців тому

      Hi Tamim! Thanks for watching my video! Regarding profiles, your experience and impact tend to matter more than the company's name. Of course, having a recognizable company name certainly helps, but even if you don't have it, it likely won't be a make-or-break situation. If it's a small company or less well-known, I recommend adding a brief one-liner to explain what it is / what it does so the reader can understand it at a glance.

      Hi Mrunali! Prepare as soon as possible; too much preparation never hurts anyone ;) Once you're committed to getting into a deferred program, focus on studying for the exams and prepping your apps! GPA does matter, though it's not everything. Schools take into account the holistic picture of your profile!

    Hey Winnie, what GMAT score should an international student must target to get into the top Ivy Leagues for a deferred mba?

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  11 місяців тому

      Great question! Since the GMAT range is from 600 to 780, aiming around 720-730 is generally advised. The higher the score, the better! But that's not to say you won't get into the school if you don't have that score. So I encourage you to do your best, practice a lot, and stay persistent :) It's okay and normal to take the test more than once!

    Do student loans and scholarships provide for daily finances and living expenses?

    • @Wonder.Winnie
      @Wonder.Winnie  8 місяців тому

      Some scholarships do cover tuition, room and board! It depends on which ones you apply to or are awarded by the university. I don't think there's many that cover daily finances or personal expenses. It either gets factored into your meal plan if we're talking food / dining meals, or you pay off the loan over time while at university.
