  • Minatamis na Saging (Sweetened Banana) is a Filipino dessert made with saba bananas cooked in a sweet syrup made with sugar and water. Some recipes also add a little bit of salt and pandan leaf or vanilla extract. Other ingredients can also be added like sweet potato, sago, or other fruits.
    There are many ways to eat saging na saba. You can fry it - plain or wrapped in spring roll wrapper with sugar and sweet jackfruit, known as Turon. You can cook it as minatamis na saging and make it special by adding crushed ice and milk, known as Saba con Yelo. Feel free to eat it using your creative ideas and I'm sure you will also love it.
    Try this delicious recipe which is sweet, delicious, and satisfying, perfect as dessert or as a snack.
    Ingredients:
    * 10 ripe Saba bananas,
    * 4 cups water
    * 2 cups brown sugar
    * 1 table spoon vanilla extract (optional)
    Procedure:
    1. In a cooking pot, put in water, sugar.
    Stir and cover. Turn on heat and let it boil until sugar is diluted.
    2. Put in the Bananas and pour the vanilla extract. Mix well. Cover and simmer for 8-12 minutes or until the liquid thickens.
    3. When your desired thickness in syrup is achieved, turn off heat. Let it cool.
    4. Serve as is or with crushed ice and milk. Enjoy!
