- 1) I have removed the key cover, it made keys hard to press. May be Kabir was trying to unlock from inside but it was not getting pressed.
2) Will keep my one window rolled down two inches till my last breath no matter what happens to the interior.
3) Don’t waste time by trying to break the glass with a brick.
4) Never hand over keys to the child. I admit, this was my biggest mistake, casual approach resulted in this situation. Buckle these naughty ones to the child seat, leave them crying.
5) Keep secondary car keys at an easy to access place instead of a locker / safe.
6) Sit together in the car, never put the child first inside no matter how you are going to do this.
7) Always be aware about your surroundings, mechanic, blacksmith. Keep your car brands road side assistance number handy.

Same incident happened with me in my Kodiaq 2 year ago instead it was my nephew 3 years old that time I was 22 at that time we were on Hyd ORR I got down to fill windshield water and soapy fluid it was drizzling so I forced him to stay in the car the key was in the key holderslot he started playing with it and accidentally locked it I tried hard opening it telling him explaining him nothing worked I tried to stop other vehicles so that I can borrow a repair tool or something with which I can break the glass but nobody stopped and to my surprise I left my phone for charging I had nothing literally nothing not even my wallet with me every thing was in the car I tried breaking it with my elbow but I couldn’t I immediately started searching for a sharp rock or stone I was running he was crying oh god by this time it started raining heavily I couldn’t find any as I was panicked there is a weird shiver in my body I’m literally trembling he now started feeling I’m leaving him and going away I came back took some deep breath gathered all my energy started hitting the window with my elbow hard luckily it cracked after several tries pulled him out he hugged my face so hard I was into tears I’m very uhh strong guy but still I couldn’t control I calmed him down got into the car Skoda gives blanket or towel kind of thing with the car I dried his hair and his body luckily he is safe nothing happened to him I had 5 stitches on my right arm from that day I never leave the keys in the car rather I put them in my pocket even it is a long drive no matter what kids are very very very unpredictable very scary

In Skoda Octavia if we pull the inside handle twice door can be opened since the first Octavia. Strange that feature not available in newer and premium model. Thank God and your quick thinking. Take care.
Exactly. Same in the vento too. If the car is locked from inside, the doors can be opened.
But this was a panicky situation. Maybe paajis kid was not able to open the door properly.
It was smart to break the quarter glass. Small damage to the pocket.

Just one question in mind, does your T-Roc not have a request censor (keyless entry) on the door handles? Though I am not sure if the door would unlock with the request censor while the key is somehow locked inside the car. I never tried, but so far I have thought that it should work.
I can understand your situation, kids treat a key as a toy but it can surely bring us in a trouble.
My kid was also got locked when he was 5, but luckily car was in a home parking n we had a second key with us. But I can feel the panick.

I did panic the very moment when my kid couldn’t open it from the lever. But I immediately called VW, my Bro in law to bring a mechanic. But I was not ready to wait for 15-20 minutes either so with God’s grace, that puncture shop came in my mind.

3 year olds are not allowed to travel without a child seat, the question of a 3 year old sitting on the front seats is out of question. This is a suggestion to all the parents with younger kids, less than 5 years old should have a child seat installed and adhere strictly to the principles of making the child sit on the child seat only.

I Have faced same issue with my son last year when he was 2.2 years old in my ford ecosport car where i went local market with him and left the key inside and went to the passenger front seat to take him., But in between these5-7 seconds time he locked himself.i was too much worried but i had patience and shouted loudly by pressing my hand in the window that unlock wala button daba do beta. Fir he pressed lock button and again i told babu dusra wala button than thankfully door unclocked and immediately i opened the door.he was also feeling a little bit of nervous but it all happened very quickly.because due to the Little bit of training which i used to give him sometimes i used to give him the key to unlock and lock the car that helped us. Afterwards i always keep my smartkey in my pocket only.😊

In this case Connected car features helps alot if key is inside vehicle then you can unlock the car with mobile app
Don't know if these features are available in your troc but many companies don't offer it from base variant..they offer it only in top variant except City 5th gen in which honda offers all connected car features like lock,unlock,trunk open,geo fencing, location,follow me home headlights etc from base variant with 5 yr of free subscription..
Every manufacturer should offer this features from base variant and seriously these features are very helpful in such situations
Good to know your son is fine. With more and more technology, need to be more careful. Electronic parking brake is also one such thing the kids can play in a running car. Spot on...connected car feature is useful in emergencies. While travelling (short or long distance), I never take the car key out of my pocket.... On long journeys, always keep 2 keys, one in your pocket and other with co-passenger.
