Glad she's getting the recognition. She is a baller!

She is relentless. She puts in constant all out effort. Harassing the opponent. And her taking on that burden allows Clark to save energy for offense. Her role is crucial. She’s a baller, and the type of player I’ll always take on my team.

Here's a stat, on average the player Marshall defends is held to 8-10 points below their season average. Bueckers was held to just 17, the player most considered the second best player in the nation had just seventeen points I don't think anything else needs to be said bout her defense.

That foul that happened in the closing seconds of the game was thanks to Gabbie sacrificing her head to the illegal screen. Had it not been for that, the game might have had a different outcome. The numbers were so close except for free throws. Iowa should have killed them with the free throws. They had 2 players with 4 fouls. I'm exhausted and that was 24 hours ago. I need to sleep tonight to get ready for the championship game tomorrow.

We loves Iowa because they play beautiful basketball. Win or lose, we love to see the passion and the team work. Smart passionate players win our heart more than emotional players who only want to win and blame others if they lose.
Making it to the finals with only one star player is a champion in my book.
At the beginning of the season, nobody gives these players the recognition they deserve, last year and this year.
Iowa was placed in the most difficult bracket as if they want to stop us early. Yet, here we are. In the finals AGAIN.
So, congratulations to all. Win or lose, you are the champion. Go Hawks!!

Relentless is right. Once an under appreciated player, a key block v Nebraska in Big 10, v WV in NCAAs and the latest has made Marshall noticed. The closer the game the more minutes Marshall has played: 40 v NEB (94-89); 36 v WV (64-54); 40 v LSU (94-87); 39 v UConn (71-68). In the blowouts vs HC & COLO only 29 & 36 minutes (but 25 points). The closer the game the more minutes.
Relentless in defense clogging up a passing lane to a perimeter player, swiping at the ball from the backside and fighting around a screen (often against bigger players). I enjoy watching Marshall playing D - darting around, arms up, arms out and running back to defend.

A player sacrifices offense by playing intense defense on the opponent's star, but she has thrived in that role and still manages to contribute offensively, it's what makes a team

I used to get so upset that she didn’t score a lot. Sometimes she would miss a lot of threes and she seem to just be on offence kind of like not moving around that much.
Then I realized she kind of needed that to get her energy back because of how long that was she was on defense and that she was so good at shutting down the other teams, best players, and drawing offensive fouls and getting those big stops at the end of the games Didn’t matter if she didn’t score a point every game she was still needed on the f defense she’s the main reason why this program has gone from such a weak defensive program in the last three years to such a strong defensive program because of Gabbie Marshall I love her I think she’s incredible. The most incredible thing is I don’t know if people of heard this, but she plays so big like she gave so many inches up to Paige. She doesn’t let our height affect her. I’ve seen her jump so many times and stop a play or battle ball out of the way from Living on the fence the girl is going million miles an hour wherever Paige is going. Gabbie was right there and I truly believe that’s what kind of gave Gabbie a page it off night because Gabbie didn’t give her much time to take a shot so, even if she got the balls, she knew that Gabbie was going to be on our own a second. I don’t care what anyone says that was a foul she did not plant she had her feet planted but then she turned she no longer had her feet planted because she took a step and then she pushed off. That’s a foul if she kept her feet where they were, then it wasn’t. It wouldn’t have been a foul but she wouldn’t of been able to hit Gabbie yes and Gabbie did sell it a little bit by like freaking out but you know what good for Gabbie and you know what if she doesn’t do that screen page might not have gotten the ball anyway because Gabbie might’ve been right there.

Gabbie is a rock star, a bad little lady on that court! Her cardio is ridiculous and off the charts, get tired just watching her fend off screens and steal balls late in the game, ridiculous lol. One more win! This Iowa team is relentless and so unselfish. Let's get it done.

It's not hard to understand Iowa's game plan.. let everyone else shoot the ball, other than Paige, which worked cause the others shoot and missed, often. Nobody agrees that call should have been made, not even the players, but it was uconn's game to lose and they did.

She is a good defensive player, but you have to ask urself as a coach, Can any of my other guards play decent defense? Then ask urself am I willing to give up the points that a better player/shooter will give the team? as opposed to the sometimes 0 points marshall game the team? most coaches would favor the better shooter player. Playing defense is something every player should be able to do. Shooting the ball is something that not all players can do very well. In this case, with an average shooter like clark taking a vast number of shots, it paid off and made the difference
