As an electrician, I have seen two fires 🔥 start because of cheap power strips as such. If you take them apart there’s some type of resistor type device between the hot and neutral. And that’s it. Not worth the fire risk for me. Better to spend about $50 - $75 and get something of quality. 😊
Recommendations for a mcintosh mc2500? It will be on its own dedicated breaker. Gfci and afci breaker perhaps? Or just a regular breaker? Im trying to keep from unplugging it all the time. But i do want it protected

That is a thermistor. It shunts surges. They are about 10 bucks for 200 pounds of them. Nasty noisy little devils too.

There are units now that protect the entire panel and I would look into those.
