  • Using decorative threads on your serger is a great way to add flair and accents to any garment. In this video, Sue Green-Baker shows us how she uses Superior's Razzle Dazzle thread (www.superiorthreads.com/shop/c...) in the upper looper to get a beautiful edge. We are using the Baby Lock Ovation machine in this video, but the technique taught can be used on any serger.
    Learn how the width and length wheels can make your stitches change in how close or far apart they are and what setting Sue likes to keep her length and width at.

    Do you need a metallic needle?

    Video was great. ok say you want to use different other types of thread. do you change the needle to slit bigger eye ?? I have a baby lock Imagine.

    • @superiorthreads
      @superiorthreads  6 років тому +1

      Sandra, when stitching with a thicker thread than standard serger thread (Tex 27 or Tex 30), it is recommended to use a larger needle such as a #90/14. This is especially helpful when using decorative threads, such as Fantastico, through the needle.

    where did you find that larger spool base (the gray extension spool base)???

    • @superiorthreads
      @superiorthreads  8 років тому +10

      +Karen Derbes The foam bases are included with the Baby Lock Ovation. An alternate method is to get a small paper cup, poke a hole in the bottom so the guide pin from the serger can fit inside the cup and spool of thread. This allows the thread to unwind without jumping around.

      I used a piece of left over foam from sewing a bag. I cut a circle like a coaster and made a central hole for the spindle.
