They also break down their thoughts on divorce, raising children, and the current struggle of Gen Z trying to afford buying a home. Joe talks about why he is purchasing a new Porsche GT3-RS for way too much money, and the boys wrap it up by raising the question of the media lying to the public via news channels.

Love the marriage conversation. I’m 39. My wife and I started dating when I was 20 and she was 19. Been together 19 years, married 16, have 4 kids (15,14,12 and 10 years old). We were broke but committed to each other and making our relationship work. There have been many ups and downs but we’re stronger now than we’ve ever been.
Find someone who is willing to work as hard at making it work as you are. Selfishness kills relationships. Selflessness ignites them.
    Always enjoy listening.

I'm 33 and i was married at 20 also.. my wife is 5 years older than me. It was very tough in the beginning for me.. NON of my friends were married and it was just such a tough transition. my children are 11, 9 and 6. I wouldn't change a THING now!

I really enjoyed Joes take on the current economic situation in the country. It’s not the fact that people don’t want to work hard as Max is trying to say, it’s the fact that people ARE ALREADY working hard, sacrificing their youth and still can barely even afford to put a roof over their head and feed themselves

    • @ZeusJuicy2
      @ZeusJuicy2 5 місяців тому

Is there any metrics you can direct me to that support that claim? Because every time someone says something like this about the economy, it’s seems to come exclusively from how they feel.
Every economic metric and measurement shows that the economy doing pretty damn well. Unemployment is under 4%, wage growth has been outpacing inflation, inflation has been declining, homeownership rates for Gen Z is higher than Millennials at the same age and Millennials homeownership rates were higher than Gen X’s at the same age. I just don’t understand where this feeling of doom and gloom is coming from other than some nostalgic longing for a “better time” that nobody can seem to prove existed with any actual numbers, just how they remember things.

I find your take on marriage/divorce really interesting especially since I got married at 22 yrs old, husband was 23 and we have been married for 15yrs and counting. The biggest thing we have on our side and why we work so well together is because of our communication, which I think is also the leading cause for divorce. If you don’t have great communication with your partner it will never work. Have the hard conversations, don’t keep shit in. You have to work at your marriage everyday and after you have kids you have to work that much harder to feel alive in your marriage. After 15yrs together and having a child my husband and I are closer than we ever have been and we laugh because we still say to people that we are in the honeymoon phase after all this time ❤️

You guys are awesome and I most definitely agree that Joe invites the most natural-flowing conversation of any guest. It never feels like I'm waiting for the next question or topic. Excited to see more of him. Perhaps he can co-host once a month on a "featured" episode, if a weekly co-host is too much of a commitment.
On another note, while I'm doing very well for myself as a marketer, I do feel like you guys might be a bit disconnected from reality, especially the entire topic about 9-5, the spiraling affordability of housing, the struggle of the average citizen in America. A lot of success *is* luck, and while that should never be used as a scapegoat for someone to just throw in the towel, it's a big thing that's important for successful people to remember. There are millions of hard working individuals across America, no matter the field, and some of them just can't catch a break. Whether it's a consistent influencer or a hard-working graphic designer, struggle is inevitable. While it's easy to say "work harder', we're in a country that doesn't always reward that. Healthcare isn't covered, benefits don't favor the middle class, and luck does play a huge role in success. There is a chunk of people who complain *and* laze, and those people will just get what they give, no helping them. Victim mentality usually means no success. BUT, for the millions who do genuinely commit to working hard but still struggle, there needs to be some very vocal empathy and sympathy for those types of people and the world they live in. Would have loved to see some of that gentle empathy come out in this podcast, especially from two very wealthy and successful gentlemen. I absolutely love this topic, though, so I'm excited to see it come back around. Love yall and can't wait for the next episode! I hope I get to be featured one day (just as a regular ol' person) -- I'll gladly take the "lowest viewed podder episode" trophy, but it'd be fun. Keep crushing Maxx!
P.S. We met at the Gymshark event in August and we chatted about influencer marketing and the jewelry brand that I run. Thanks for all the great advice and hope we cross paths again soon!

i think in order to judge the 9-5 you have to understand inflation at a deeper level than the surface, its getting to a point where you have to be a top 3-5% corporate earner (example, a engineer at google) to live a "good" life. Other than tht, the middle class, who went to college for a great degree, makes the 120K, yet still suffers pay check to paycheck. 8k is 4k after taxes, then becomes 2k after rent, then becomes 0 with food and kids. So 120k, which is top 10% in the world, is essentially barely enough. The dollar is cooked, inflation will continue to widen the gap going forward

I sympathize with the girl. I was in the work force for 10 years. Worked my way up to a 6 figure salary and I HATED every second of it, Constantly exhausted on the rat race, trying to work up the energy to just work out and stay healthy. I finally got so depressed it started affecting my marriage, started drinking so much, and dreaded every single day. Left to start my own company with a side hustle to fund my bills until the company picks up. We all out here.

I had a 10k wedding, was the best day of my life! We could def not afford 100k, though we could have had a bigger budget…who we are as people though it made sense how we did it. It was rustic and intimate which was very us. However, I love attending big lavish weddings so I say do you. I didn’t like feeling pressured to have to do a large traditional wedding and you don’t need to feel bad for doing what you want either. I loved your engagement max, I think it’s really thoughtful that you chose somewhere that was meaningful for you both. I’m kinda with joe on the ring thing, we preferred to invest more in the rings since we will wear those for years to come, but our attire for the big day we went the more inexpensive route.

Just so you guys know, there are plenty of people who don't want kids, and they aren't going to regret not having them. There are plenty of women who do not want kids and have thought it out very thoroughly and there is nothing wrong with that. It does not mean they wasted life or have a pointless life. Not everyone wants what you may want in life.

This podcast could really be just you and Joe. I really love the insightful and real conversations you guys have. I agree with Maxx on somethings and Joe on others. But it’s always interesting to hear perspectives even if they’re different from mine. And as someone who works at a national media news organization, I found both of your perspectives on news organizations as well as the corporate ladder conversation interesting. Joe is right, there is a cap on salary and you can get more money and a better role by leaving because companies will hire from outside rather than promote within.

In high school and college, I busted my ass studying. I applied for and got jobs and internships. I didn’t party, at all. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time with friends, maybe 3-5 hours per week tops. I just studied really hard, I got scholarships, I got grad school paid for with research grants, and I got my first job (engineering) which pays $83k base with a 12% bonus. I’m incredibly grateful for my hard work, my choices, and the opportunities I went out and found for myself. I think a lot of young people are approaching things all wrong. They should not party like crazy, take out huge loans for out of state schools to get business or liberal arts degrees, and they honestly shouldn’t spend so much time at minimum wage jobs such that they can’t study and earn scholarships and get internships. I think a lot of people have made decisions which undoubtedly have put them in a bad situation. I’m just sad and disappointed that those more experienced around them didn’t clue them into the repercussions of their actions.

@54:10 I feel like we all have those freak out moments. I had a moment like this the first time I realized summer vacations stop once you’re done high school. I was just lucky enough my venting was done to my friends and not the internet.
Just don’t go get pregnant because you want time off work you’ll have a major breakdown when you realize how much work kids are.

@joeknowsbest you might appreciate my engagement story: we went to Disney springs and took a amphicar tour on the lake. I had no idea because we were there for a PPG paint class. 🚗🚗
