Replaced mine yesterday thanks to this video. I was leery about doing it because of the airbag, but as long as you give it some time after you disconnect the battery it's fine. With the age of these vehicles, it's best to just replacing the wiring harness. Thanks for giving me the confidence to do this. THe background music helped calm me down a bit. The pink wire facing up is important.
Just replaced my Dad's controls in his 98 Ranger. I got lucky and had no problems. Took me 10 minutes tops. Thanks for showing what happened with the broken connection. That gave me a lot of extra confidence. Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you so much. I watched how your wires pulled out so I took a little extra care while removing the control panels. With a small screw driver, I was able to lift them off with no hassle and still keep them intact.
Wanted to say thanks for the video. I too tried to replace just the controls but the ribbon cable was so brittle that one of the control connections snap. I looked at other videos to remove the steering wheel but all of them said just hit the wheel to knock it loose to remove. Not mine. I was able to fix the cruise control by watching you snake the ribbon cable .
My connectors were also stuck and I damaged one of them, so I had to use the new harness. Years of hot/cold cycles and spilled beverages kinda hold the connectors tight and the age makes 'em brittle.. However, after discovering how tedious it was to thread the harness over the top, I threaded mine thru the bottom of the enclosure. There is much more room going thru the bottom.
I followed this video and got my new cruise control switches installed in my 2002 Ford Ranger. Unfortunately, when we reconnected the battery, the horn was stuck on. Have your heard of this happening before? You have any clue what might be the problem??
okay, did everything you did. The pink wires are on top. I still get the flashing speed control buttons and the cruise control no longer works. any suggestions?
Sorry, no I'm not sure why that would occur. I no longer have this truck anymore and it's been awhile since I did this. I know this is a late reply, so hopefully you have it fixed by now. If not, just double check the wiring (which I'm sure you already have). I know I'm no help, but good luck.
Are you kidding? I quickly made it up to use in this video and a few others. If you're serious though, check out my music videos on UA-cam on the PsychOtto Channel. I should be releasing another song and video this fall or winter.

Watched this and had it in the truck in less than 35 min. Thank you for the step by step instructions.

Positive on first, negative off first! Take the negative cable off next time. Not the positive.
Very helpful
Thank you 🙏
What year model was your vehicle?
Easy to replace all of this...but that ground on the on/off side is for the horn....now the horn blows all the time!! I had to leave it off....
Quick question, if you are still monitoring this video! :) Is this the same set up as in the 99 Taurus?
Sorry, I don't know if it is or not. Maybe someone who knows the answer can reply.
good video, nice music
Great mate....

Thank you. The song on this video isn't a music video, but maybe I'll have to make it into one some later day.
That music track hey. Nice!
Easier to just remove the whole steering wheel
