Nothing like having Hammerson Peters telling ghost stories on Halloween. But having them be from First Nation's, is a huge bonus. Thanks, and Happy Halloween.
Blackfeet (Pikuni) here and I haven't heard stories like this since before my grandparents died in the 90s. Although I was born and raised in MT, almost every area in your stories I am very familiar with and it adds a lot. Thanks for the stories not only about my people, but the non-natives as well.
I'm Cree and Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), I wish our people would make peace and put that bad blood from long ago aside and leave it there. Both you and I, history has made us equals.
I was living in Medicine Hat 2 years ago running my 1/10th RC at night by the railroad tracks south of the goodyear plant. There are rolling hills along those tracks which 4x4 trucks go. I was back in there when I heard something approaching me at night. Something making a clanking noise or small chain like. I could hear it coming my way for about 15-20secs before it stopped. Turned my RC and drove it over that way as its loaded with LED lights. I was expecting to see cat eyes shining back or maybe a dog. Didnt see anything, even lifted the truck an shone the light all around, but there was nothing there. Had the weirdest feeling that it wasnt there to friends either so I gtfo. Never went back there at night.
Awesome video thank you for those stories. I really enjoyed hearing those. You have a gift for these videos and I appreciate your work so I just wanted to say thank you.
Can u imagine the absolute stubbornness, Heart, and absolute will and determination the old women must of had to stay behind and knowing, surely that once the Blackfoot found out they were deceived and lost all the spoils they were anticipating, what a horrible death the would have to endure. They still made the choice without wavering and without falter. So there families could survive the winter and the tribe could live on. Selfless absolute courage and selfless. What brave souls (excuse the pun)🧐
Agreed. If the men had stayed and fought most would have died, those men were fathers, sons, husbands.. They were truly giving of themselves to the hardest extent for their tribe, their family. As a mother myself this made my eyes tear up. W A R R I O R S
Very nice!! I am also from Canada 🇨🇦. Niagara Region Ontario. Whatever you do... Don't tell the story of the screaming tunnel in Niagara Falls unless you have actually been there. The story has been so over exaggerated... My husband and his grandparents lived 30 seconds from this tunnel. Do you want to know a secret that the Niagara Region is really trying to hide? There is a cemetery here that is 20% underwater in the Canal!!! They were very very old Graves. When I go there... I get a very heavy and sad feeling. I am an empath, and medium "if you consider being able to communicate with pasted beings". The Lethbridge Alberta part was amazing for me. I was born in the Lethbridge hospital in 1986 while they were tearing it down. Lol...
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing that. I was thinking about including the 'Screaming Tunnel' in a video on Canadian urban legends, but don't think I'll be able to visit, unfortunately, before I publish.
Hammerson? What a great name! And what a fantastic video! So timely and syncronistic for me too! I am right now writing about ancient Canada, and I start right here in Alberta since thats where Im from! Your research here us spectacular
I remember reading the story of the Ghost Woman of Akai'niskui. Always found that story terrifying and legit had nightmares about it, but I forgot all about it. This video is a godsend. Amazing stuff, absolutely loving your content
Old Wives Lake- great story & totally believe you'll hear those old broads(term used beyond endearingly in this instance) getting the true last laugh at those Blackfoot warriors they tricked.
A friend of mine was a chief on reserve South Saskatchewan. One job he had was repairing barbed wire fence on the community pasture. One day he on his saddle horse was repairing fencewire. Suddenly while stopped and tightening wire his horse kicked up making a fuss. It's eyes were wide in fear as he grabbed its reigns. Kind of calmed it down and he looked over his shoulder in the direction the scared horse was looking. About 200 yards away there is a tiny abandoned and mostly dilapidated church. Outside the church entranceway was a man in black cloak, tall black hat, pale unshaven face with long white hair over his back. Seemingly a very old white man in old timey clothing. This man was looking at him, grinning widely and staring right at him. He was disturbingly knodding his head, continued smiling, his eyes staring right at his face. The horse again tried to fuss & pull away and when he looked back a few seconds later the tall man was gone. After he returned home he told his brother but didnt tell his wife and children. He made sure he attended a sweat lodge ASAP.
Hammerson, how are you not a recognized ambassador for Canada? I found your channel years ago for interesting First Nations stories, but man you really really go the extra mile traveling the continent for the content.
@@HammersonPeters Whenever I visit my Aunts and cousins take me to The Chocolate Moose. We also went once to the spa in December, it is one of the most incredible experiences ever because of the outdoor hot spring area.
@@b.5191 Nothing beats the outdoor mineral pool in the dead of winter. Next time you go, especially if it’s in autumn, I’d highly recommend a walk in Crescent Park. Magical vibes.
Hey Hammerson, in your ghost stories you mention the great sand hills or "spirit land" if you ever want to visit the site, i can take you to the actual camp still untouched by the plow, the sun dial or medicine circles and many other anomaly present there today. I only have 1 artifact that i reported to the Archaeological Society but it has been dated to 8000 years. As far as i know i am the only one who knows about it. You are invited, thank you for the stories.
I love your stories mr. Peters. It would be really cool to hear some from outside Canada though. You seem to have a great talent for finding these little-known but still gripping tales. Don’t pigeonhole your skills. But also 😂 don’t change your channel Because some idiot I’m a comment told You it’d be cool.
A question about the last story: why did the main character choose to shoot the ghost if he was already convinced that it was the spirit of a murder victim that used to be friendly in her life? Why not rub a couple brain cells together and ask if she wanted to have vengeance and whether he could help with it?
Yeah I'm sure you would be totally reasonable in this situation. Also, the chances of reasoning with such a being, unless you are an experienced Shaman/Medium or whatever, are probably pretty slim.
@@stefanfun She just sat there without trying to hide or attack him. That's not how someone with malicious intent behaves. Anyway, shooting someone who can't be killed any more (and shooting people in general) is not the wisest move, to say the least. Homeboy chimped out and found out.
Geez I'm a resident of Lethbridge and it's scary enough just to take a walk to the store in the evening lol never heard of the Chinese girl 😕 poor thing. Did a randonaught adventure one day for something creepy and it took my boyfriend and I to the Galt Museums front lawn by some trees. I remember hearing about the sound of horse hooves being heard that was from the mine I think but that could be just kids making that up
The last tale is it just me or is the paradigm off, a creeper skeleton thing and given 3 chances to announce themselves, the Brave did not wrong, HeavyColler that is the ghost is the bad one, but what is the lesson of the story? I am looking at it from all sides even the culture of the tribe then vs now and it still seems idk a land spirit of a darker nature more so than a ghost of a person.
Babe wake up! indigenous canadian lore dropped!
Perfectly timed
Awesome thanks
Happy All Hallos Eve.......
Thanx alot H.P.

Yeah. Not really ghost stories, are they. Just stories that just happen to end with a ghost legend.

What is a coolie?
In this context, it's a "coulee" - a small valley on the prairie, usually formed around a creek.
WHY WOULD YOU SHOOT THE GHOST.
