Nice work on the SMLE! Happy for you. can't wait to see the range report. I just need a new forend for mine and she'll be ready to go. I've since ordered one of the VG Carcano Cavalry Carbine from their Italy batch for Black Friday. I'm considering one of the No.4 Mk 1s, but I'm not sure if I want to gamble again.
If the rifling is worn at the muzzle, talk with a gunsmith about counter boring the muzzle. That is when you bore out the muzzle about an inch or two in order to reach good rifling. It suppose to stop or prevent key holing. I suppose you could counter bore it yourself , but I'm no gunsmith.
@noapologizes2018 well, i called 2 local gunsmiths and neither knew what the heck is was talking about!!!!! I'm gona have to find an old school smith because apparently these new ones today only know the new basic stuff. One told me he didn't have a lathe to do any work like that...ugh.
@@KH2837 That's crazy. A gunsmith should have at least a mini lathe. Hell I have one. I have never done it but I have a shot out No. 4 Mark 1 barrel, and I thought about trying it. The barrel would be self guiding and two inches would be as far as I would go maybe less than that.
Perma blue paste in the tube. I didn't want a real shiny blue so it kinda match the other distressed parts. I applied it maybe 4 times and in between applications I went over it with 0000 steel wool. The rust had pitted it pretty good but it actually turned out well. The only thing I wanted to blue was the magazine.
@senatuspopulusqueromanus5626 lol...heck no! I'm pretty happy with mine! I washed the wood with spray dawn and the funk just ran off..then about 8 coats of linseed oil. The metal i went over with oil and 0000 steel wool. I looks as good as some on GunBroker going for 600+!! I'm super happy it's an early(1915) one too!! Hate you got a bad one one! That's why I'm nervous to put $299 to $400 in a jungle carbine! But if i get one I'll get a C grade and hope for the best!
@ i think I just got unlucky you should Be fine. I try to restore these but not a full restoration I do some light sanding then I cold blue the gun if the Finnish is completely gone. Lol we need a better place to talk I can go on for hours
@senatuspopulusqueromanus5626 lol...gotcha! I really enjoy bringing them back to life! I've got about 50 military surplus pistols and rifles. Expensive hobby...lol
@senatuspopulusqueromanus5626 Thanks...I've just never made videos..lol. but there wasn't much on these C grade no bolt $99 Enfields so I figured I'd maybe help someone else out...I may try the C grade Jungle carbine. But still at $299 That's a lot for not knowing what you get..

What process did you use re blue ?

What method did you use to extract the broken bolt?
@jasontorre3267 left hand drill bit..came right out!
