That barrel is amazing externally. That's the ideal level of finish for the rest of that rifle. Slow rust bluing should get it there, as that was the standard for military firearms bluing in 1915.
The only thing I reblued was the magazine. The barrel was good actually. I cold blue with perma blue paste and it actually blends well...this no1 and Mt no5 turned out really good. I'm still working on my no4. It's taking alot more work! It was a rust bucket!

Left handed drill bit should help.

1/8 drill bit and extractor should work also. Or, if necessary, drill out the bolt and re-tap the hole. Good luck!
