The Outlander has 6 different modes, you can feel and hear the difference on our test hill. The best result was achieved in Normal or Mud mode at full throttle. But there is that roll-back movement even when pressing the accelerator that is unacceptable and might be dangerous. Leave TCS ON, it's no use when it's OFF and gives similar results. Expect also similar results with the Nissan Rogue. The system will offer greater handling on the tarmac and on a snow-covered road, but when facing a real challenge like sand, roller, and our test hill, S-AWC is not what it use to be!
    Discover our review of the completely redesigned Mitsubishi Outlander. Their All-Wheel Control System (AWC) contributes to an exceptional driving experience and unparalleled handling in all circumstances, while the patented Super All-Control is the world's most advanced 4-wheel drive system.
    Well, that's what Mitsubishi says on its website! Is this totally true? not fully!

    I’ve watched your videos over the years and I recently revisited past Mitsubishi videos. The S-AWC looked to preform very similar on almost all expect the 2016 Outlander. I noticed the roll back on all of them. I also noticed the Eclipse Cross was worse, even at the lower grade hill.

    2022 Mitsubishi Outlander:
    An impressive 86% "reliability" and "quality" rate by "JD POWER" (higher than Toyota and Honda),
    A stunning almost 50% "resale value" after 5 years of ownership by "CAR EDGE"
    100% made in Japan

    I drive this on the daily and it’s great for off road usage. The test was done well for sure although in real life one would cut the wheel a bit to try to get traction. Also, the vehicle didn’t seem to roll back in any unexpected dangerous way - like a track car, it’s good to get training for off-road if you never have done so before. Otherwise, I personally bought it for the S-AWC. 😎

      Yep it's still capable and one of the best AWD system in it's class the problem with this one is that it has more modes, the older Outlander only has 3 and those 3 modes you can't really feel the difference while this has 7 and there very different from each other and thus makes the Outlander look bad because your going through all of the modes.

    It's really good some of you may think that it's bad but it's actually really good. It got up that ramp easily take note that AWD systems take time to react. Keep it in Auto with traction control on or mud with traction control on and boom. Also SAWC is for rallying not for heavy off-road Snow, Tarmac, Sand all of those are for rallying not off-road so that's why it struggles but in Mud and Auto with traction control on it shines

On this you can really feel the difference just keep it in Auto and Traction Control on or Mud with Traction Control on and viola and you've got a capable SUV.

      Without locking diffs Subaru is usually top of class for AWD. From what Ive seen from other car review test Mazda 2nd and then Acura 3d.
      If you are referring to locking diffs then we start talking about rock climbers which AWD are not.

    I know Mitsubishi does not use the best factory equipped tires. When I bought my 2022 Outlander ES and looked at the tires on the new car inventory, I do not think the same tire was used twice for a factory tire. Some had Nexen, Toyo, Yokohama...etc. After about 12,000 miles I took off the Toyo A45 tires, had a flat after about two weeks of ownership, and replaced with a more aggressive tread.

      Our journalist association required us now to have a real test track with insurance and security measures in place upon the manufacturer's request. So if we do them again, it's only gonna be 0-100kmh, not 1/4 miles like we used to... Track in Québec are close most part of the year and are closing to make place for realtor project..... we don't have the budget to create a test track or buy land to do it now. So we are in a dilemma, still do them 0-60 0-100 max and/or respect the limit because we will have to do that on a secluded public road, or simply abandon those videos. feel free to tell us what you want to see.

    • @the80386
      @the80386 2 роки тому

      Turbo can help but it's not crucial . What it will really benefit from is an exclusively electrically driven rear axle, much like the (recently discontinued) Acura RLX Sport Hybrid. That will eliminate the drive shaft altogether, along with the central and rear differentials, significantly flattening the rear floor hump. The saved weight can instead be utilized by a small 'buffer' battery pack for regeneration and EV-like instant acceleration dashes.
