REGGAE BUBBLE: 'whistle' & 'mento' bubble and sine wave bubble | Excerpt from Reggae Organ Lesson 4

  • There are A LOT of different ways to play the reggae bubble. In this lesson we'll explore two different variations which I call the ‘whistle bubble’ and the ‘mento bubble.’
    Also, we'll take a look at the sine wave tone for the bubble which proved to be a great substitute for the tones found on a real Hammond organ when such organs became less available (and too heavy to carry to shows!). As the music developed, the sine wave bubble took over as the predominant bubble tone in the 1980's and 1990's. These days, with digital keyboards better able to mimick any kind of bubble tone you may want, you can dial in any tone you may want.
