that's not a menorah, that's a Hanookiya (ha-noo-ki-ya), the menorah is what we had in the temple and it held 6 candles/fires, in a hanookiya there are 8 and a shamash (the candle you use to light up the others haha) and we all had those in kindergarten 😂

MeMe_Very_Unoriginal not really, "oy vey" is a yiddish phrase, and yiddish is about as known to ashkenazi jews as german is to germans. watermelon and fried chicken is stereotypical, "oy vey" is traditional and tbh it fit with the comment.
I would classify it as offensive if you aren't Jewish, and are talking about Jews. So like in this case.

Emilly Zalayet He didn't say jews were evil. He gave a reason why jews were always hated and outcast. For some reason civilizations always threw jews away because they assumed they were evil and what not. Of course they aren't.

Somehow I always think the Jewish community is both the strictest and most open (read: laid back) religious community in middle-east/western world.
gyqz it depends on the branch i guess. reform is very laid back as opposed to conservative. but yes, in my experience, we are a very welcoming, warm community, and i think it stems from the fact that we have always been a minority, and haven't always been treated the best. I love being jewish ☺
