What the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't suffer is a sad line saying that the baker will never know that the wife cheated on him and she can never ask for forgiveness
I love how there's another bean stalk growing at the very end, and they all hurry to pull it out before it continues growing. But I think the children will listen version ties more into the moral of the story, "Careful the path you take. Wishes come true, not free.", "Children will listen", etc. Because to me, this version just seems like another version of the Act 1 finale, taking away from the fact that they've all grown as people and matured. The song is great otherwise, and Sondheim is a musical GENIUS! I feel so honored to be performing this musical at my school!
Awesome ... Sondheim never disappoints .I would love to see the full version of this ... As well as Sweeney Todd's pre Broadway version if it was possible ... It's so fascinating to see how those songs were and how much they've changed
The slotted spoon can catch the potato. Every knot was once straight rope. The harder the wake the better to have. Excuse me! What the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't suffer. When going to hide know how to get there. And eat first. Where's there's good there's evil but where there's evil there's good. If you have to decide between beauty and power Ah-ah-ah-ah-AAHHHH choose power. Every tale has to end sometime.

Omg
Interesting alternative ending. Especially with the kiss...

Love seeing how things chang and develop over time.
Wow it’s so different!
I like how this has more lyrics than the newer one!
Zink Zoodles yep it's different from the other one.
I see the beans tossed by the Witch make an appearance. They should incorporate that joke into future revivals.
Thanks for posting! What a special video to have!

Is this the pre-Broadway version? The Giantess' head is kinda scary lol
Does anyone have a full recording of this? Just without the audio cuts and the lines.
