If it's any consolation, I cry at every TV mass. This has been a lesson for me, being a Catholic IS A PRIVILEGE AND A VOCATION. Lukewarm is NOT an option.

Here here. The Christ Jesus didn't have to make himself ever present, make everything in his name, and make himself ever obtainable in the church, yet he did. You do not deserve, so try and be humble. Try and earn your place, but admit you'll never get there, that's apart of believing. Don't feel you can ever earn your spot , but always try, that's all our Lord Jesus shall want

As my father passed away, long before corona, he was in the hospital. The priest paid him a visit and my father confessed and got the Sacrament of Penance, and was absolved.
After that, he was invited to get the communion, but due to his medical situation, his illness, he couldn't swallow it, and he was not supposed to throw it up. He had to watch in pain and cried silently because he wanted to fully accept, not reject. The priest then comforted him by saying that his genuine longing, his pain and his intention like having the communion, are regarded by the church, and by God, as the Sacrament of the Eucharist, in this case. My father believed, and some days later he died in peace.

I was one of the people who had to watch the Mass on TV during the pandemic due to a compromised immune system (from life long medical issues). At the time I was thankful for the option to watch the Mass on TV.
That said, the first time I was able to attend Mass again in person felt almost overwhelming. Father Casey is absolutely right, awe and wonder describes how I felt all over again. It was like the days when I was new to the Church. Being there is a very different experience than watching on a screen.
God can use all things for good. The pandemic was horrible but, in my case, I feel a very real need to go to Mass every week now in person. Something is missing inside me if I cannot go. I think maybe I had started to take the Mass for granted. I pray God reminds me of how much I need to keep the connection alive.

On Corpus Christi for the first time in 89 days I received the Holy Eucharist. Broke down and cried in front of priest. Internally recalled how lost I am without Him. Never ever want to be without the breaking of bread in community. Do not ever want to return to who I was without Him.

I am glad that the streaming Masses are available because that way I at least get to be "present" and "participatory". However, I am also missing the physical presence of the Eucharist, and I, for one, can hardly wait until we can return to our churches and once again be present and participatory with our brothers and sisters--in true communion! Sadly, it is the effects (or potential effects) of the current pandemic that preclude our being able to do so for now, and so I pray every day that it will end. I also pray every day that people realize what we MUST do to make that happen: wear masks when in the presence of others, wash our hands regularly, and maintain our social distancing. Besides, trying to get the host through my computer's screen is proving to be a challenge.

I actually disagree with the content of this video. Our very reality is God, so what is this talk about "presence"? Stated differently, why is a physical symbol necessary. Pardon if everyone else knows the answers and I don't...it's just that 12 years of Catholic schooling never really told me much about the faith

    • @callumblair6269
      @callumblair6269 4 роки тому +13

@@econdude3811 Reality is not God, but rather his creation. Whilst he surely 'dwells' within it - being omnipresent - it does not carry the 'essence' of God. That is, it does not have the immaterial property that makes God, well, divine. Standing in a pool of water does not make one water, for instance. The Eucharist however carries this 'essence'; his actual ontological being/body/blood is found to be present within the physical substance of the bread and wine during the Mass. The same cannot be said for anything else - therefore, the true 'presence' of God (that is, the thing that makes God = God) is found in the Eucharist.

Thanks, Brother Casey, for reminding us of truths so essential, simple and clear. Here in Brazil many priests and even some bishops, to speak of the importance of reading the Bible and Christian life in family, in these quarantine times, end up decreasing the value of Holy Mass. But we must not forget that God wants to accomplish salvation through truly human elements: He wants to save us as a community, as a people and He brings our salvation through materiality, through food. We are temporarily prevented from receiving the sacraments, and God knows how to guide us even in this situation; but we must not get used to it and we must hope that as soon as possible we can form a concrete communion with Christ and with the brothers.

This is frustrating, all it takes is one whimpering child or someone coughing and my attention is gone. I remember one time it was a slight buzzing of a malfunctioning light. I can tell you about that light, but I don't remember anything else about that service. I don't have the same issues online. I don't get anxious that I've missed something or angry that someone brought their child to church. And of course there are folks who are shut-ins. I attended Mass in person last weekend for the first time in 3 months, but other than Communion, I found it an unsatisfying experience because it was so uncommunal, so alien. With taped off pews, distance between people, no sign of peace, no singing, no catching up with friends after Mass, it was not much better than attending while sitting on my couch at home, except for Communion, and even that was sterile. Mass was lonely and stifled behind masks and social distancing rules. Something I’ve not felt before and not something I want to repeat. I long for my community to be a community again. So, no, I won’t ever get used to this.

Believe me, nothing compares to the joy of celebrating the Holy Mass with the community present in the church. Seeing Anabella crying from joy after receiving the Holy Communion gave deep sence to the ministrations i perform in the church

Thanks, Father Casey. My parish re-opens this coming weekend & with luck I'll be baptized & confirmed the following weekend. It has been very odd, this Lent with extra innings. I've been waiting for the opportunity to receive Christ in the Eucharist for the better part of a year now, & I hope your words stick with me, that I never forget just how blessed I am to be able to do so.

I strongly love live mass, but could this also have a wonderful evangelizing effect. If we used streaming mass in a proper way, It could be truly something. If we used streaming mass, people could log in using a password. This could be done for the sick of a local parish, visitors wanting to see the catholic faith is, it could bring those who have gone away back again. I know the outstanding daily tv mass in Canada brought me back. For me, God has many instruments to reach all, hence vatican radio/tv. It reminds me of when Jesus speaks of the lost lamb over the 99. His love, mercy, and grace are everything we need without knowing it. As always Father Casey, you bring up an amazing subject.

I pray I am able to attend Mass soon. My heart hurts so much. I usually cry after I watch mass via Facebook or online. I am so hungry and thirst for him. I am six months pregnant and all those with low immunity to stay home. Also they closed the bathrooms at our Church as well as many places. It takes 20 mins to get to our Church, we are asked to arrive earlier since there are only 80 people allowed with the Mass and the drive back, I would not be able to make it. I remember Two years ago when I was pregnant with my first son, I was about 8 months pregnant I stepped out right before Communion to use the restroom. When I came back I saw the last usher take communion. I walked as fast as I could thinking Father Carlos was going to walk away. It was a very long walk to get to the front. He looked at me and nodded. He waited for me to get to the front to get communion. That meant so much to me. I will never forget it.

Thank you Fr Casey, the incredible wonder, of the actual truth of Jesus himself physically
present, in the small bread held up by the priest, is too immense a concept for ordinary
humans to grasp. So we accept without grace or amazement. This lacklustre attitude is
also our in our thankless acceptance of His gifts of all the world around us. And while
God, without protest, allows us to avail & enjoy his bounty, we have only to open our eyes
to see His munificence, Give thanks, And believe He is physically present, just as He said
    He would be-body & blood.
Fr Casey, your understanding in 21st century language, shows us we can & should accept
God’s word quiet literally. Thank you again. God Bless You.

I'm probably going to wait a couple more weeks to go to Mass because of my family's concerns that I'll bring the virus home. The church is taking a lot of precautions and I was able to see that when they livestreamed Mass. The other problem is, because of the need to stay six feet apart, we can't all go back to Mass every week as the church used to be completely full for most Masses.

Since June 1st we are allowed to celebrate mass again in my country. But only with 30 people, after registering, without singing or shaking hands and at 1,5 meters (5 feet) distance from one another. It was really good to see (29 of) my brothers and sisters again and to receive the Eucharist after so many months, but in a way it felt wrong. These measures, although necessary for now, bring a distance that shouldn't exist in a Christian community.
I am really looking forward to the time that we can hold eachother again and be close to one another. I look forward to singing God's praise together. I hope it won't be too long...

Actually, In Canada, or at least the archdiocese of Winnipeg, we’re actually allowed to go to public mass as long as we make reservations ahead and make sure not to over fill the church, and some smaller towns are having outside gatherings. It’s really nice to have the Church back together. I didn’t realize how much my spiritual life had decayed over the last few months. 😥
Anyways, thanks so much for the video, I hope you have an amazing day! God bless you and your household. ❤️❤️

So there was ample opportunities for wrong continuously.

I was also a militant atheist till 21.
So I didn’t really stand much of a chance.

is a completely different experience when people get together and worship. watching TV can sometimes makes us believe things are not real. Christ is at hand, we must reach for him in unity. social media should be just an Add on to spread the good news of what is to come.

I have spoken with friars from the Franciscan chapel center in Tokyo about this topic, including father William debiase and father lucian mulhern. The best explanation are from converts. I appreciated testimonies from Alex Jones and Scott Hahn. This is an excellent commentary from a Catholic from birth.

As a fallen away Catholic who came back to to confession a year and a half ago, and has fully embraced the Church and rejoiced in the love and mercy of Christ; This distance, and inability to receive the most holy Eucharist has destroyed me inside. I have become the separated sheep from the flock. My prayer life has faltered, I have fallen into grave sin on several occasions. Calling parishes in the area, they have altered their times for reconciliation and it has been difficult to participate. Today was a grace for me. We have a priests who rents the upstairs portion of the home my wife used to live in. While tending to the property today he came outside and I said hello to him, and the Holy Spirit moved me to ask if he had time for a quick confession. He didn't bat an eye and invited me inside and as a humble servant of God offered me the sacrament of reconciliation.

My church, to my knowledge, didn’t have mass being live streamed. They did have Eucharistic Adoration where they would open up the doors and expose the precious body for the length of about 2 hours. Same amount of time that both masses would have been. I would always go there and participate in that fashion. I’m happy that they opened up again to allow us to partake of the body of Jesus.

My parish church was able to open up this weekend just in time for Corpus Christi! Wonderful timing. I last went to Mass on St. Patrick's Day so today's Mass felt like a homecoming. I felt truly blessed to be able to livestream Masses from the Vatican during lockdown, and to experience a taste of having the Holy Father as a parish priest, but all I could think about was getting back to church proper and receiving the Eucharist.
It was a bit challenging because right now for the sake of public health, religious gatherings are limited to 1/3 of building capacity and social distancing is required by law. So today I was good and early (30 minutes!) for Mass in order to be sure I could get a seat. My habit has been to skid into a back pew at the last minute, so apparently I'll be becoming a much better Catholic from now on 😃 if I want to have Mass at all.

Another thing...I want to correct you and many others in North America: when saying Amen or reading from the scriptures and it contains the word "Amen" - it is not to be pronounced "aymen", but with long A, like when the doctor tells you to open the mouth and say aaaa. That is the A to use to say "Amen" - as in Latin or Hebrew, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish, German and GB English, Spanish and French, and even in Chinese, we all say "Aaamen" without the "AY-sound". ;-) Catholics say Aaamen.:-)

Last week, we were able to “meet” in the parking lot for a communion service. This week, the real deal-a real mass in a real church, with real Catholics physically near me (6 ft away with masks)! It was wonderful. I feel so fortunate that until Covid, I was free to worship, even daily if I wanted. I will pray for those who can not worship freely.

Au contraire - our church opened for week-day masses on Tuesday after Memorial Day with almost a standing ovation when Father came down the aisle to the altar, and he commented on how glad he was to be back to "normal," which was agreed upon with all in attendance. I haven't missed a day at mass at church since that day!

I miss going to church. My church has had 2 masses with limited amount of congregants in the pews. We had to register online and it was limited to 150 people. I was one of the first to sign up each week. Well, since last Sunday I was inadvertently exposed to the virus. So now, I won’t possibly expose my brothers and sisters, I am heart broken. To me, sitting in a pew in the presence of Christ, is my favorite place to be.
