Super rad you guys did an install video for the bedsides, I’ve got a set that I’ve been procrastinating on! After finishing this set, would you still recommend doing the tail lights the same way- leave all the metal to mount to and then just fit the fender around it? Also, I was talking to the ADV guys a while back and if I recall correctly, you can still leave some factory bedside near the cab to overlap onto, but trim the fiberglass fender near the cab a bit further back, then use panel adhesive to glue it in, and then blend it into the existing sheet metal + a little body filler to get a more seamless look. (But guessing you guys wanted to keep the bolt-on/off capabilities?) If you make any progress on the fuel filler, it’d be rad to see how to handle that- the 4 Runner swap idea is interesting!
Yeah I’d say leaving metal to mount around the tail light is the most sturdy option. I think I get what your saying about the front end of the bed, and I think we did most of that (minus the adhesive and body filler to get the seamless look). Very interesting tactic to get rid of the little “lip”. As far as the fuel neck goes, the owner is still running it the same as it is in the video just cause he doesn’t mind it, but yeah the 4Runner neck should be longer.
