This German Town Is Crazy for Gherkins

- The residents of Spreewald, Germany, are proud of their gherkins, as they should be. A Spreewald resident came up with the concept of pickling cucumbers-which grow in abundance in the region-over 150 years ago. Today, tourists visit the area to eat the salty, crunchy treat and visit the Gherkin Museum founded by Karl-Heinz Stark just after the reunification of Germany. Sixty miles outside of Berlin, Spreewald is a UNESCO biosphere reserve full of picturesque woodlands and a network of waterways. The best way to get around is in a punt, which is a water barge. Manfred, a punt driver, takes us on a scenic cruise through Spreewald before we meet up with Susi Beesk, a local celebrity who holds the title of Super-Gherkin Queen.

I literarily got an ad for great big story while watching this...
The story telling is a mess. I was intrigued at first and went dizzy fast and learned nothing substantial about the gherkins. Please return to your initial format of one story per video, thank you.
My favorite thing about Great Big Story is the fact that every video is a miniature documentary; however, I do feel like some of these videos would greatly benefit from being a minute or two longer. Regardless, keep up the great work!

My grandparents-in-law live on the Spreewald. A couple of times a year we go visit them and every time we come back with several kilos of Spreewaldrabe Gerkins. I wasn't even really a prickle person until I tried these, they really are mind meltingly good.

According to me Germany is underrated because some people still have old cliches or do not know the language or the country good enough to visit it, which is sad actually because Germany has a lot to offer...

Excuse me, but who wrote this? The Spreewald is not one single town, it's a region south of Berlin which includes many different towns. The people in the video even SAY that they are from one specific village (Lehde) inside this region, but the translator seems to have deliberately ignored this.
