Judge Milian made a terrible decision; I've worked in the law for twenty years and this was not her finest hour (or, more accurately, 14 minutes). The first words out of the defendant's mouth were a lie, and an idiiotic one at that: calling the dog being a border collie and not a pit bull. That, in itself, allows her to disbelieve anything he says subsequently. Awarding the child only $500 for pain/suffering and no money for punitive damages stemming from the dog being off leash many other times or defandant's bald-faced lie about the dog's breed is a travesty. By giving the defendant only a slap on the wrist she essentially sanctioned his reprehensible behavior. She didn't even compel the defendant to recompense the insurance company or medical facility for the costs incurred. I don't know what she was thinking in awarding such a piddling amount. Granted the arbitration is edited so we don't know what else may have been revealed in testimony, but I can't imagine any reason why there should not have been a larger verdict. She should have also insisted that the incident was reported to animal control so that there is a record of the dog's violence in order to protect the community in case of another such incident. Perhaps she's been on the bench too long.
I think if that little boy was in court they would have gotten what they asked for even though $5000 will never repair whatever emotional or physical damage he incurred. But I do agree with you
Honey if you think one lie discredits everything after that then no one would ever win any lawsuit & nothing would ever get resolved. Alooooot of people lie, you gotta filter out what is relevant and true and utilize that for what you need.
@@sweet2sunshine You obviously know nothing about the law. It's amazing that ignorant people spew nonsense (yes, I mean you) without knowing or caring that they are 100% incorrect.

WHAT? Had that been the judge's daughter with a mutilated ear, she would have awarded herself the full $5000, awarding them only $500 telling them to buy him a toy, is insulting. I was only 'pushed' by a Labrador when I was 10, and I am still frightened of dogs to this day, I can only imagine what a 6 year old is going through, but it is worth a lot more than $500...
You were pushed by a Lab at 10 and are still frightened of dogs? That seems extreme. My brother was bitten on the calf by a neighbor's dog at around that age, and he has no fear of dogs. A dog bit me when I was in my 20s, to the point where I had to get stitches and have my arm in a sling for a few weeks, and I have zero fear of dogs. It must be difficult to go through life being afraid of something that is so common; some kind of therapy might be helpful for you.
Exactly, I was 3yrs old when a dog ran up to me and jumped on me and to this day I don't fool with them, everyone handles things differently. Not to mention every time that young man looks in the mirror he's going to be reminded. You don't have to be mauled to be scarred.
So the defendant literally insists he had the dog on the leash -- until the dog broke off the leash. Isn't that a bit like being half-pregnant? The dog was either on the leash or off the leash at the time of the bite. Period.
He was saying that in response to the plaintiff saying he is always outside with his dog loose. He’s saying it was originally on leash and didn’t go off leash by his choice.
She seen this as a money grab for herself. Made me sick to hear her say the judge seen my pain. But you know that 500 went to her and not her grandson. No way she gave it to him.
@@ButtonsCasey Years ago, Judge Wapner issued a small judgement to a minor. At that time, he instructed the mother to put the money in a trust fund and added that the Court would maintain jurisdiction until she did so. I don't typically comment, but Judge Milian got this one WRONG. $500?? This 6 year old, innocent child will bear the physical, mental, and emotional scars from this incident for the REST of his life. How dare it be minimize to $500. I highly doubt she would walk away satisfied from that type of judgment had it been her child.
Agreed! He deserved so much more because that trauma will last his whole life. My parents regret never suing the neighbors for their Dalmatian biting my brothers face. He was 3 years old and had to get 60 something stitches. He has a scar on his cheek from it (about 3 inches long, and prominent) and he is now scared of any dog he doesn’t know. This was back in 1995 so idk if suing people was harder back then or what.
Maybe bring the ACTUAL victim if you are gonna beg for money. Court is about proof and physical evidence. NOT feelings or potential pain. It's about ACTUAL pain and proof of that pain. 500 is more than fair since the ACTUAL victim didn't even show up.
$500 for permanent scarring?! Just the physical scar alone is worth the full $5,000. This child will be scared for life from dogs now. Any permanent scar and Judge Judy always gives the full $5k if fault is found. Here the fault is clear, poor child should have got the whole $5,000 put into a trust fund for him. Ridiculous decision.

She should have also insisted that the incident was reported to animal control so that there is a record of the dog's violence in order to protect the community in case of another such incident. Perhaps she's been on the bench too long.
Bring the ACTUAL victim when you ask for money.
500 is not enough I would have said 1500 plus court cost. This is a child we are talking about pain and suffering and a bit of trauma! I'm so sick of these cases with these irresponsible pitbull owners they need to learn tough lessons!
Bring the REAL victim to testify next time. Not a bunch of family members who the dog didn't touch.
If it was that bad... Bring the REAL victim to court to testify.
That kid is adorable
I think this lady has a right to be upset Judge. Let's see if you would be chill if this was your child. Smh
That pit bull lol
So the defendant literally insists he had the dog on the leash -- until the dog broke off the leash. Isn't that a bit like being half-pregnant? The dog was either on the leash or off the leash at the time of the bite. Period.
He was saying that in response to the plaintiff saying he is always outside with his dog loose. He’s saying it was originally on leash and didn’t go off leash by his choice.
Good verdict!
Glad the boy got it and not the grandma. Her last line said it all. I'm glad the judge felt MY pain.
Exactly. I caught that
She seen this as a money grab for herself.
He also said that the boy would get the money when he turned 18. This is what JM should have done. Nonetheless, her decision was fair.
You all are too much!!😂😂😂😂
Don’t agree with the amount of this judgement at all!! Little boy will have a scar for life and a the price of a PlayStation is what it’s worth
I always watch these dog cases to see what buzzword the dog owner is going to use to avoid saying "pitbull".
"Border collie" is a new one.
Lol yeah he was wrong for that now. I thought border collies were those furry dogs with spiky looking fur lol
@Shanna Holmes think of Lassie but smaller. The dog he had doesn't look anything like a border collie
@@Play4keeks yes!! Lol it really doesn’t smh
I was like “he no good and well everybody knows how pit bulls look”
@@shannaholmes833 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Play4keeks 🤣🤣🤣 lassie is a rough collie which is slightly smaller than a border collie
Border Collie LMAO
Dog owners need to pay close attention to their dogs.
Yep and parents need to pay close attention to their kids. It goes both ways. It's not just my job.
That doesn't look like any herding dog I've ever seen, lol! Why did he say that, lmao? 😂 Mr. Jamal really is a big fat liar🤦🏻♀️.
This kid is adorable!
I have never liked the look of a pit bull. However, I am not sure they are more vicious it’s just that they have super strength in their jaw and do more damage than other dogs.
When I first saw the title "Dog Ear Eater", I thought a person ate a dog's ear! 🤣🤣
Definitely a " pit bull " I had a border collie when I was a little girl, Lady Bug black and white medium length hair, very good natured but protective around me ❤
500$ was an insult!!!!!!! Judge Was Far too Lenient!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He’s obviously lying about the breed so you can trust anything he says. He should have been dismissed for perjury and full amount goes to the little boy. A $500 judgement was very insulting.
*can’t trust anything he says
Bring the REAL damaged party to court when you want money. The dog didn't touch ANY of them. The person it bit was conveniently NOWHERE to be seen.
500 dollars is insulting!
Most home owners insurance will not cover pitbulls so people will call their dogs any other kind than a pitbull but Judge was correct, that is a pitbull thru and thru
Unless you have a dog whisperer present in court and the dog to cross examine then you have no case. 😂
Please get a total refund from your imaginary law school
I’ve seen adults get more in these kinds of cases. I’m surprised the child only got $500. He should’ve got more.
Next time bring the ACTUAL victim to testify and maybe they would have gotten more as NONE of them could reliably testify to the child's pain and suffering....ONLY the child itself can do that
@@Aceofwolves the child is 6. The
Judge is smart enough to assume how someone that young will be affected by a dog bite.
@@tashanapink7688 which is why they got 500. Which is more than fair considering again..the ONLY viable witness is not there. There have been young kids on the show before. There's no good excuse why they didn't bring the Only viable witness
and doug with his zoology degree shade !! lettin defendant know we ALL know what kinda dog that is. boy...
She sounds my best friend’s mom. From south Louisiana lol.
Agree!!! It surprised me!
I know.
You know damn well she wouldn’t
Maybe bring the ACTUAL victim if you are gonna beg for money. Court is about proof and physical evidence. NOT feelings or potential pain. It's about ACTUAL pain and proof of that pain. 500 is more than fair since the ACTUAL victim didn't even show up.
Did he really think his pit was going to pass as a border collie 🙄😆
Cant lie VERY WELL MANNORED little guy
If you have a vicious dog like a pit bull I would muzzle that dog before taking him out in public
The plaintiffs grandson Jayden is absolutely Handsome and so well spoken. 💙💙💙
$500 is a poor judgment.
It's proper judgement since the ACTUAL person who was bit was conveniently not able to give a statement
the defendants' admitted to the dog being off leash and both arguing in court.
A child should be afraid of dogs. This will prevent them from coming into contact with them and playing around on them.
@@Aceofwolves Of other people's dogs. Strange dogs running loose are to be avoided. The family dog is perfectly fine for a child to play with it as long as the parents are supervising.
@@lobosalt6868 yes but also they didn't bring the REAL victim to testify. So they have no leg to stand on. In pain and suffering cases you need the ACTUAL person who was bit to testify.....NOT family.
Blame the judge for not shutting up Grandma asap. Honestly, the judge should have shut her up and let the little boy talk about getting bit.
@@lobosalt6868 except they didn't bring the ACTUAL victim... That's his brother who the dog did not bite. When you go to court for dog bites you need the ACTUAL person who was bit to testify.
Judge Judy would’ve torn that lying Pit Bull owner (which is redundant) a new ass
ALL dogs need to be leashed!
Just like YOU don't want strangers touching you. People don't want YOUR PET touching them!!!
$500??? Cmonnnn
Barely started and already the defendant is lieing that is nowhere near a college.
My border Collie just rolled his eyes at this.🙄
Jamal is a big fat liar.. truest statement ever 😂😂
Wow he had the nerve to say border collie lol when the kids knew it was a pit bull.started off lying and his wife just smiling smiling smiling.
A border collie?!?! I’m dead. 😂
This lady is off the chain. Seems like someone who can blow things out of proportion. But dude is all the way in the wrong.
Y’all granny was FED UP!! I can tell she really ride for her family
That was a very unusual looking border collie.
I LOVE THIS LADY 😂 SHE'S OLD SCHOOL ❤❤❤
First of the members of the family are beautiful.
Second nana don’t take no crap.. lol
The only place that's a border collie is the border between Compton and South Central.
😆😆
Uncle Alex is ❤
If that's a border collie, I'm Kate Moss 😂😂😂
Mathis would have thrown the case out for lying.
Grandma saw this as a money grab for herself. Happy the judge ruled for the money to go to the injured party.
I love the grandma, she is hilarius.
That’s all they got??
Dude really had the audacity to say his dog was a border collie😂😂😂
Bruh that’s a pit bull 😂😂😂
I’ve seen her give a grown ass woman 1000 dollars for pain and suffering for a guy who played some lady and dragged her on but for a child bit by a dog she just hands 500 coke on
Probably because the actual victim testified. Bring the REAL victim when you beg courts for money
