That’s why you read the “how to play” section before playing lol all of that is said in there 😝 you come from the era of having great manuals coming with games, you should have that reflex to read before playing haha
This, 100%. After the last video bashing this demo for stuff that was clearly explained in the How to Play section, I almost unsubscribed from this channel. It remindes me of the reviewer who bashed Cuphead because he couldn't figure out how to air dash.
While the demo doesn't have a tutorial (because it's not the true start of the game), I think it's worth noting that all the mechanics are explained in the "How to Play" page.
This game looks so freakin' fun. Between this and Octopath Traveler 2, I am one happy gamer! Thank you for covering these games ahead of time. If you like it, I know it's a good one!
Finally staring this game.. thanks for the info! Even if its pretty evident how to use these battle abilities and actions i'll go in having the insight ahead of time instead of sleeping on them like i usually do in new games.
Last year broke the bank with all of the amazing JRPGs that came out, and this year the indies are getting what was left, love to see these games, so much fun to be had
Dont they explicitly teach you about Live mana in like the tutorial area? xD. It was the "use magic without using magic". This is my tip: In battles max out the live mana in the field when the enemies are not charging spells and save these for when the enemies start charging spells and you can use the live mana to break the enemies and cancel their attacks. I tend to use normal attacks when the enemy is not charging a special spell and save my MP for when they start to use spells and I want to prioritise cancelling or shielding the party depending on the circumstance. Sometimes if you just dont have the pieces to cancel, its better to use the Moon Shielding spell (you get automatically relatively early in the game) to absorb some of the damage. Live mana also works with team up attacks! For example the level 1 team up attack you get at the start, you can absorb live mana with one of the characters before using the team up attack to help break enemy attacks. Dont forget about team up attacks - the all target healing one is super helpful and costs no MP! Use it liberally especially during random encounters to get a good free party heal. Dont forget you lose all your combo meter when a battle ends.
I recall hearing that demo actually takes place somewhat toward the middle of the game, if that's the case, hopefully the final will be a little more upfront with the tutorials xD
How are people constantly surprised by things that are spelled out explicitly in the first 10 minutes of tutorial and combat training? The two adult solstice warriors literally tell you this stuff lol. So very surprising!
It’s also surprising that you didn’t realize this video was made to help out people with the DEMO, not the full game. I guess we’re all constantly surprised by different things.
Is it just me, or does fishing in this game suck? I was enjoying the Demo, but then came the mandatory fishing quest. Apart from that, i really enjoyed my time with the Demo. Big fan of being able to choose which stats you want for each character as you level. Also enjoyed monsters being weak to certain weapon types and elements.
The fishing minigame isn't mandatory. You can only reel the fish in when they are within the vertical light bar, which wasn't obvious when I started. Once I figured that out, I was able to catch the special golden fish in 2 tries.
When I noticed you could change the turn order, the boss died the next hit. That coud have helped! By the way, if you like Metroidvanias, I strongly advise you play The Messenger, a great game by the same team... and also in the same world as Sea of Stars. And despite what you might see when you start playing, it IS a metroidvania.
It really shouldn't have to be said to explore in an rpg, but there are people who don't do that. You have a interesting world and you just go from pint A to point B without doing anything else. Strange.
Thanks for this! Was about to rage quit over like, only the second boss in the game that I can't really grind for. I hate that slow level grind like Zodiac Age has, and I'm sure I'm going to have a lot more misses than hits as modern games keep getting harder, but I hope I can get through this since I like the old-school style ( incidentally, rage quit FFVI over the managing different parties BS * lol*)
I swear i played this game for like 10 mins without knowing anything about this game but I knew like all u talked about after like 10 min except for the mana storage hit hahah😅😂
Timed attacks / blocks and Locks are both explained early in the game, just talk to the older Solstice Warriors before taking the exam. That's the tutorial, and the game tells you to talk to them as well. The Elder Mist LITERALLY teaches you to use Live Mana -- it's required to pass through that section of the game, as there's no other way to harm the enemies you'll encounter in that area. Your first two 'tips' are surprisingly disingenuous. Thumbs down from me.
The game tells you all of this in the full game
This video was not made for the full game. It was made for the demo, look at the date.
The demo told as well??
@@davidvincdont talk back. You are wrong hehe
@Supercodebreakgo ahead and hate them. That doesn’t make them wrong.
@Supercodebreak No, we just hate tips videos that aren't really tips.

Man I wish this was coming out sooner! Still six months away
It here 🙌

2:12 Meanwhile the bottom of the select action menu: ZR boost
Didn't know about that scroll in the dungeon, thank you! I hope the full release has a ton of secrets!
Boosting attacks with Live Mana was literally explained at the start of the game. It's not even optional dialog.
It wasn’t in the demo, and this video was made for the demo
This game looks so freakin' fun. Between this and Octopath Traveler 2, I am one happy gamer! Thank you for covering these games ahead of time. If you like it, I know it's a good one!
Hi David! Wishlisted this one immediately. Thanks for clarifying the whole breaking locks thing. Going to try the demo.
Glad it was helpful!
There are way more than 4 locks 1:53
Do better
These tips are for people who’ve never played video games before.
There are tutorials that explain everything you talked about in this video..
This is my most hyped game of 2023, and I'm a huge LoZ fan. Cannot wait for this game in August
Wow, this all sounds complicated. Nice work David.
Appreciate the tips, I still need to check out the demo, but I'm definitely looking forward to this game.
Hope you enjoy it!

Nice video man.
I can’t wait for the release. The demo was amazing.

This is all explained in game as you play it. All this does is spoil it for new players

Thanks as always, David.
Excellent, thanks David.
Not sure how tou missed all these explanations. Everything from the box breaking to the live mana boosting is explained via gameplay
It really shouldn't have to be said to explore in an rpg, but there are people who don't do that. You have a interesting world and you just go from pint A to point B without doing anything else. Strange.
Just finish playing the demo and I love it , cannot wait for the game to be out.

They explained all this in the beginning of the game. You have to read the dialog...
Maybe reread the title of the video.
How do you time attacks and blocks (apart from the boomerang and fireball)? I played the whole demo not knowing this.
Thank you for the video 😊
Definitely hoping they smooth out the rough edges before the official release, but the combat looks amazing! Looking forward to this one.
I swear i played this game for like 10 mins without knowing anything about this game but I knew like all u talked about after like 10 min except for the mana storage hit hahah😅😂
game literally tells you all this lol
Check the date, this was made for the demo.

Look at the date of the video. These tips were made for the demo where they didn’t explain anything.
How much is this 32 bit game? I mean we still reading you couldnt read it for me?
Hey thanks for the tips!
No problem!
lol the game doesn't come out till late August.
2:13 doo doo, lol
I heard this game is co op is that true

It's all explained at the beggining of the main game so your video is pointless
How come your commenting on a pointless video?
