That support at the end was the cherry on the cake, thanks for sharing another great service call.
Yes it was!
As kids, we drank from the garden hose! Whatever you do, don't drink out of that hose now, since it's been in the toilet 😂 Love the videos! Keep up the great work!
Remember those days when the water from the hose faucet was delicious
Great repair job, Mikey! 👍🙏
Thanks 👍
I pretty much use pipe compound on every thread in plumbing, often just as an anti-seize measure. faucet/other leaks in the future and corrodes everything, the nuts all come apart pretty easy still. including tubular pvc drain with the nylon gaskets, I like the blue locking type there, even though it looks ugly. nothing leaks, moves or falls apart with thermal cycling. just wipe the excess well while it's still fluid.
Nice fix, well done !
Thanks 👍
i like how you put thoseplangenuts on the tankside knowing oneday i will have to be changed out good work mike take some time off
Thanks for sharing
Haha before I even saw the leak I said those blue caleffi gaskets suck. I replaced 2 sets of them on my prv at my house. Finally I swapped them out with the red silicone ones.
If u soak them in water for 2 minutes before installing them they don't leak
Soaking them in water is a great tip. Thanks for sharing.
Love a mechanical room with herringbone hard wood.😍
Yeah, sure is a nice touch in the mechanical room
So the issue was both the mixer valve and the check valve?
Yes
Using high velocity washing machine hose, will greatly speed up the pumping. Inside diameter of hose is significantly larger than standard washing machine hose.
I keep forgetting to pick one up and keep one of my truck
Chuck the other hoses. Keep only the high velocity ones on the truck. And the shorter the better. Not always practical. Keep at least one shorter one and 1 longer one on the truck. The difference is substantial
Lol impressive you got that check valve apart. Everyone I try are so tight almost impossible to do. That is the calleffi downside. I learned that wolverine brass grease on gaskets and threads for lube has worked great for me. Haven't had issues since I started that. Prob works the same as dope
Thanks 👍
st-12 expansion tank seems borderline under-sized for that large of a indirect and total piping volume, since it's a recirc. system and obviously a large dwelling.
not that it was your sizing selection and you just replaced the previous.
Whole house filter with water softener and the water quality is still 💩
Sweet job Mikey! 👍
Thanks 👍
Polish up that spool piece with some emery.
Or smelt it down in the furnace
Always soak caleffi gaskets in water before install or they do not seal
Is it necessary to install the check valves?
Yes, cause you could have reverse flow
@PipeDoctor thank you I noticed that there are none on my house.
water heaters always build up and concentrate minerals, due to the large volume stored and the heating process. so hot water lines/faucets always have the most schmutz buildup, even if the water is perfect by standards. just think how distillation works, it's similar except it's not boiled off and condensed in the water heater.
too much mineral removal isn't good for humans, pets, plants, lawns, etc. which is why the big R.O. systems now have cartridges to put minerals back and many water bottlers also add minerals back. lol
What happened to deburring? Did I miss something?
That’s only for the camera
ah Mikey you voided the warranty on the fittings by not reaming the pipe...
Washing machine mixing valve. It back feeds into cold water. Seen that so many times.
Thanks for the tip!
and what should i look out for for giveaways
Make sure you watch all my videos
How the hell did the nuts on the mixing valve leak? The washer is what makes that water tight connection shouldn't have to put dope on the threads .. hell even a flare connection doesn't require dope .. weird? I'm guessing you tried tightening it more and it still leaked .. maybe next time you install those mixing valves buy different washers?
That’s a great question
Tempering valve.
Is this code in newyork?
?
👍🏻🥃
Cheers
bello, but don't forget to debeard the pipe.
Fcuk that
If you have a good water softener, it's not as bad.
@@PipeDoctor lol 😆 I love your videos because you keep it real.
I’m just bothering you…
You’re the best!

@@fredlendzian7082 man up.
Ask your mommy.
Hey Mikey, wouldn’t the hot water degrade the wax ring on toilet? Oh, and you forgot to tell us the brand and model number of the toilet. You know, like you do about your screwdrivers.
Thanks for sharing
21:31 no, that shows you exactly one thing: how shitty american water supplies really are!
Even with a water treatment system in place
