- Transfer at Frankfurt Airport. How to Transfer at Frankfurt Airport? This is how it was for us to Transfer at Frankfurt Airport in Germany or at least this is How it was for us to Transfer between connecting Lufthansa flights at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). All Transfers at Frankfurt Airport can be different and so can the length of the Transfer Walk to your connection flight.
It all depends on what Gate your incoming flight arrives from and which gate your outgoing flight is departing from. How long does a Transfer take at Frankfurt Airport? Honestly, this is a question that nobody can answer beforehand, how long it takes for you to Transfer Between to Lufthansa Flights (or other airlines) depends on so many factors such as, has you incoming flight arrived on time, how busy is the airport while you are doing the Transfer walk, how busy is the Security Control (are there many passengers in front of you) and how many Security Control Desks are open. The same factors apply to Immigration / Passport Control. If you have to pass through Immigration / Passport control it can take a long time if there are many other passengers in front of you or there are few Immigration Officers on Duty. Finally, we always try to get from Gate to Gate quickly for our connection flight. Once we have completed our Transfer Walk at Frankfurt Airport and found our connection flight Gate, only then do we begin to explore the restaurants and Duty Free Shops in the Airport. Frankfurt Airport is a huge airport but the airport has good signs to help you find your way around easily, whether you are departing, having a flight Transfer, in Transit or simply Arriving. This footage was filmed inside Frankfurt Airport in Germany. We arrived on a Lufthansa Flight from Bangkok and left Frankfurt Airport on a Lufthansa flight to Copenhagen, Denmark.

so the security in connection flight not like the regular flight . the connection terminal have their own security check with no stamp on passport

Im travelling to Rome in October and have a 1 hour layover in Frankfurt which im not sure is long enough, but that was the itinerary luthansa gave me, my travel agent assured me it'll be ok, but im still a little nervous.

Thought ZRH was a bit clautrophobic, but might be because my flight departed from the satellite terminal ('E' gates) - think that's the only airport I've been to that puts it's duty-free shop in-between security & immigration (which in ZRH is @ the basement). So from check-in all the way to the underground shuttle train between immigration & the satellite terminal, I didn't see sunlight @ all

@@TravellerYT cheers I've forwarded to a friend, who is coming transatlantic for his first time from Mexico 🇲🇽. I'm glad it's FRA he's using, although I'm a fan of Vienna too. I think Zurich has nice friendly staff, but if you're there a while, it's much more expensive than FRA. MUC is OK, the only place I avoid at all costs aaasgghhh is Schipol, it's a nightmare, especially when covud rules were strict.

Good morning Kieron. This is a very large airport and from what I can hear on UA-cam feelings are mixed, some love it some hate it. We are in the category "Love it". We were here a few years back for our first Airbus A380 flight and had a great time there eating traditional sausages and potatoes with German Beer, a good memory. I had to spend 10 hours both ways in 2002 here and it was a rough time, I was really young and traveling alone but didnt stop to think to book a hotel rather than sit for 10 hours lol

We have the neck pillows, but have never used them, nor felt the need to.
A family membered transferred through Frankfurt on their way to Portugal once, they said it was also quite a walk from their arrival gate to the departure gate (Non-Schengen to Schengen, like yours). They almost got lost, but there were quite a number of staff around to help tell you where to go.
We do not use neck pillows either but must admit we have never tried them, maybe it is awesome ;-) We like Frankfurt Airport but the walks can be very long there! The good thing is, as you mention, there are always staff on hand to assist. The other thing we like about this airport is that the prices at restaurants and shops in the airport are very reasonable at least compared to Denmark and Copenhagen Airport! What can I say? I tell you people I would have been ready for a nice quiet beer or three after that walk ,lol,seriously guys a wonderful video again.Maxi you are lucky to have a great navigator around airports like Maro so you can concentrate on your video ! I can imagine that walks such as this could pose a problem for the elderly,I well remember a few years ago assisting my elderly parents at Sydney after a UK trip,and even now the airports are getting bigger and bigger.I hope you are both doing well , I hope you both have the best year ahead also ! Another longish walk to stretch our legs after a 10 + hour Long Haul! :-D These walks are long but the truth is that they do not bother us, so long as we have the time to get to the gate ;-) We have had two long transfers at Amsterdam where we have been delayed and really have had to run, that was not fun! Maro is a good navigator and it is good that she is able to keep the steady pace as it makes for smooth filming. These Transfer walks would be very long and drawn out if we slowwwwwly made our way around the airport. Yes, these walks can be long for elderly people and people with walking disabilities which is why we always mention that in the videos so that measures can be taken/ordered beforehand. Flown through Frankfurt (4) times and depending on the time of day, it can be calm 😀...or it can be stressful 🤯. Last time through there is was stressful with the queues going through check points / immigration. In a couple months I have a flight into Frankfurt from the U.S., arriving at 5:55 a.m. I have a transfer to another flight so hoping all goes well since I have 1 1/2 hrs between flghts.✈️

My wife needs a wheelchair at each airport. We have always had to inform them at the Lufthansa desk, when we arrive at the airport. We have never been able to do it ahead of time online..

Thanks for the video, I’m travelling from London to Frankfurt to Munich as a connecting flight. Never flown by myself before. Have an hour lay over would you say this is a comfortable amount of time?
I think the airport did the walking distance to long for the persengers to stretch from long distance from One airport to another... My view

I am travelling for the first time to Frankfurt from Melbourne along with my 3 kids and wife. I feel it will be more an adventure than traveling with kids. Lol.
Question regarding transportation between terminal gates people can book wheelchair when booking their ticket's
I'm stressing about my 1 hour 5 minute layover in Frankfurt (assuming no delays), especially since it's my first time flying international from Australia. This video made me realise how far the walks are and I saw more clearly the checkpoints that I'll need to go through. Any tips or things I should know before hand?
Hopefully things go well, it's a week from now.
Not really, just keep your documents on you and follow the signs. It is very hard to get lost at Frankfurt, so I wouldn't worry about that. While Frankfurt is huge and busy, usually it's a very efficient airport. The checkpoints you need to go through are different depending on your journey. You only have to pass border checkpoints if you are connecting to a flight that is flying to a Schengen country, if you are just arriving on a Non-Schengen flight and you are planning to connect to another Non-Schengen flight you will not need to pass border control as far as I know.
I also have this connection in a couple weeks, how did you find it may I ask?
@@carlabriggs9953 i had to practically run through the airport. I followed the signs and asked security to put me in the front of the line. I was the last on board so I recommend giving at least 2 hours layover

@@carlabriggs9953 Currently Frankfurt is a Nightmarr because of lack of security staff and because there are airline strikes. The Airport currenrly advises all passengers to arrive 4h before departure, and connecting passengers should allow 3,5h. If you only have an hour to connect, I would advise you to plan ahead, and maybe try to rebook with your airline. If that doesn't work, the only thing you can do is wait and see what happens... If you miss your connecting flight, yoir airline is required ro rebook you, and if there are no alternatives avilable, you will probabaly get a Hotel voucher you can use.
I have a layover at frankfurt to go to Ireland coming up. either 1.5 hrs or 7 hrs...this video makes me nervous that any delay and my entire plan goes down the drain if I take the 1.5hrs ...hopefully I can kill 7 hrs in this airport
We have spent many hours at this airport waiting for connection flights and always find a place (restaurant) where we can relax and pass the time. In our opinion (we are from Denmark) prices are quite reasonable at Frankfurt Airport compared to other airports. Have a good journey :-D

am traveling next year to singapore with a lay over at frankfurt i think i could get out of the airport and go to cologne since i have 12.5 hrs lay over time .
What is the size of the check in luggage in Lufthansa?
It's always seemed quite confusing when I've transferred flights in Frankfurt. I ask for wheelchair service ahead of time with the airline. The thing with those neck pillows is when you nod off forwards. They are okay as long as your head and neck stay leaned back.

I don’t have good memories of Frankfurt airport. I flew to Cyprus via Frankfurt once and the check in guy at the gate in Frankfurt shouted at me in German as I didn’t have the correct code on my boarding pass! Hardly my fault lol.

I have an upcoming flight from india to Frankfurt with 2 hour 20 min layover and then onwards to Madrid..Lufthansa said this time is sufficient for connection…I’ve been to Frankfurt airport before and I do know how huge it is..but I don’t really have an option

If you watch the video you will notice that we mention when we are about to pass security and/or Immigration and then we mention when we have been through them. Have a good trip.

Nice review. I'll be flying from Newark to Frankfurt, then off to Manchester so it's nice to have a idea of what to expect. Did you have to go thru customs for your connecting flight?
You only need to clear customs if you are arriving into the Schengen Area, The same applies for Passport Checks by the „Bundespolizei“,provided you don‘t exit the Non-Schengen Area of course!

When we travel we always buy all our routes on the same ticket and then when we depart from the first airport we ask them at the Check-in Desk to check our baggage through to our final destination. My flight has a 1hr and 40min layover in December from the US to an EU country in mid December. I’m a bit worried because I am also visually impaired but both are from the same airline the poster is going on. Would this be enough time for this airport if I have only a carry-on?

Thank you for the video. A couple of questions: Did you check bags? If you do check bags and are coming in from a non-EU country and transferring to an EU flight does Lufthansa transfer your bags to your connecting flight or do you have to collect them from baggage claim and re-check them? How long did immigration take to clear? We are flying LAX to FRA next month with a transfer to VIE and a little less than a 2 hour layover and worried about the connection.

@@rockymin3474 The bags were transferred at Frankfurt from our US flight to our flight from Frankfurt to Austria. We had delay issues though that are apparently quite common. A 4 hour layover and we barely made the Austria flight. I'm not booking an international connection with less than 6 hours after going through that both ways.
@@FinallyAirborne thanks for your response! I have changed my flight so I have no transit within EU! It seems EU airports are chaotic. Now I have 5 hrs transit in Singapore! I think I will have peace in my mind now. But had to pay much higher fares…
