As someone new to polishing I learned a lot from this video so many thanks. Your efforts do not go unappreciated and explain why you have so many subscribers.
Been looking for a decent review on these pads and found non informational until now. Thanks John & thanks for the time/effort it takes you doing these much appreciated from all the community
Great review, Jon! I appreciate it. After all these years, I've come to the conclusion that tue green foam they use for the Hex Logic is my favorite foam to start any process with. I used it for years with Ultimate Compound to correct a lot of cars. On a Porter Cable 7424xp no less. With Ultimate Polish it was a very nice one step. The green foam works great with ACA500, and the new Optimum Hyper Compound V5 (which is my new go to). It's got that texture to it, which helps those abrasives "scrub" the paint, and it has contourability, which can negate the need for "augmentation", but I must admit that I much prefer the Hex Logic to the flat. I wish I could try a waffle, but there isn't one in a 5.5" size. Another issue with thes foam it availability of sizes. Very limited for the professional detailer. I'd like to learn how to make pads, but I have no idea where to procure the green and blue foams Buff and Shine uses. Amyhow, it looks like the new Rupes pad is atill a bit too firm for my liking. Either was, I very mich appreciate all the effort and work need to to create such a great overview of this pad, and pad discussion in general. Fun topic for me.
Perhaps I should try this cyan-pad. I'm not a pro, but to be honest; I was able to remove lighter scratches/swirls on my 2015 Mercedes (hard clearcoat) with the Rupes yellow foam + Koch Chemie F6.01 (great combo/one step). I also got decent gloss & cut when I one-steped my previous car (Suzuki Gran Vitara - soft clearcoat) with Rupes yellow wool/DA-Fine.
If a pad says DA only does that mean it would be too aggressive using a non dual action ? I have a Makita polisher/sander which holds 3 inch pads for polishing and 2 inch disc for sanding.
I have a 2012 Chevy Silverado, factory paint that my grandkids touched the sides of it with sunscreen on their hands, and now it seems to be embedded in the paint. Tried clay bar and polishing compound, no help. Would you have a suggestion as to how to get them off? Thanks!
Yooo john big thankyou just ordered a new polisher and found the best price on in 2 detailing randomly at the checkout I took a stab in the dark and typed forensic it only goes and knocks nearly a 10er off my order so just wanted to leave this comment as a thankyou hope sometime down the line we cross paths I'm sure it will james speaks highly off you from slims ✌️
yer fair play mate. its just time consuming mate and Ive got another test running in the garage at the moment. But I think that would be usefull. no promises but maybe later. or a wider comparison with lots of mid range foam perhaps would be usefull
@@ForensicDetailingfair enough, it is interesting to see what they can do - especially as this is one of the new soft but dense pads. Wonder how it would do for finishing. Great video - just rewatching for the pad cleaning info.
shinemate have decent pads but i rather rupes or lake country. The best budget foam pads in canada are the lake country SDO range. Big fan of the orange and blue SDO from lake country. The blue SDO is probably very similar to this new RUPES cyan pad.
not cheap enough for me. italian mate rupes pad 5 inch 10 quid. Chinese made shinemate 9 quid. needs to be less than 5 pounds to be a decent proposition.
It’s far too firm this pad especially on softer paints & definitely doesn’t finish anywhere like the rupes yellow either . Plus the Velcro backing was coming off after one use too . I sent them back for a refund . Garbage
12:22 that was a good one... brain charging up with O2

I think one of the reasons for the hole in the middle of the Rupes pads is for checking alignment using the center bolt in their backing plates.
i've always liked the chemical guys orange green and white pads but i use them with the rupes polishes i think i'll give these DA pads a try soon:)
I have a Rupes wool pad works very well

It means it's design for da. Mainly shape wise

Maybe try wet sanding

the slims guys rock :)
Got to admit I use the rupes green pad a lot for single stage polishing, makes it very confusing now they got rid of it
28:32 DIY Golden and Jeweling red pads
What’s with the tyre hanging on the wall
Test tyre 🤣
I've used these on forced rotation. Didn't do too well
Love your videos 🙏
Saving for a Porsche engine at the moment…😂😂😂😂😂
I'd imagine this is perfect for cut and finish products like Sonax EX04-06, Scholl S20 etc, probably a similar pad to Koch orange maybe
yes same sort of thing but not the same foam I think.
@@ForensicDetailing yea the Koch foams do seem different than others I've used, but I like em
How come no testing with the other grades of compound or for finishing? Half a test there!

Hmm after 1 use... come on m8 you gotta be a bit more subtle.
