Let's just ask the Qur'an who the first Muslim was. The first Muslim was: Adam (2:37), Muhammad (6:14, 163), Moses (7:143), some Egyptians (26:51), or Abraham (2:127-133, 3:67). Apparently, Allah does not know the answer to this question, so you can't expect lay stone-kissers to know. Great video.

    My post, Namus
Waraqah ibn Naufal refers to the founder of Islam's visitor as the Namus/namus, a word that means LAW.
    Narrated `Aisha:
The Prophet (ﷺ) returned to Khadija while his heart was beating rapidly. She took him to Waraqa bin Naufal who was a Christian convert and used to read the Gospels in Arabic Waraqa asked (the Prophet), "What do you see?" When he told him, Waraqa said, "That is the same angel whom Allah sent to the Prophet) Moses {هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى مُوسَ This is the Namus that Allah sent down upon Moses}. Should I live till you receive the Divine Message, I will support you strongly."
    [bukhari/60/66]
"Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" The Prophet (ﷺ) described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same Namus (i.e., Gabriel, the Angel who keeps the secrets) whom Allah had sent to Moses {هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُوسَى This is the Namus that was sent down upon Moses}. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out."
    [bukhari/91/1]
"Waraqa b. Naufal said: O my nephew! what did you see? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then, informed him what he had seen, and Waraqa said to him: It is namus that God sent down to Musa {هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُوسَ This is the Namus that was sent down upon Moses}.
    [muslim:160a]
How is he in a position to give a name to it? And is he supposedly 'The Namus' or 'A namus'? And why is it called 'LAW'? And where did he get this title from?

S 33:63 People ask you about the Hour. Say: The knowledge of it is only with Allah. And what will make you know? Perhaps the Hour is near.
    Relevant part: لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا la’alla al-sa’ata takunu qariban.
S 42:17 Allah is the one who has sent down the book with truth and the balance. And what will make you know? Perhaps the Hour is near.
    Relevant part: لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌ la’alla a-sa’ata qaribun.
In the first verse we find takunu, a feminine verb agreeing with sa’ah but the adjective is masculine. In the second the verb is missing and the adjective is again masculine.

    My post, Moley Molly
We are told that the founder of Islam had a protuberance on his back.
    Abdullah b. Sarjis reported:
I saw Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and ate with him bread and meat, or he said Tharid (bread soaked in soup). I said to him: Did Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) seek forgiveness for you? He said: Yes, and for you, and he then recited this verse:" Ask forgiveness for thy sin and for the believing men and believing women" (xlvii. 19). I then went after him and saw the Seal of Prophethood between his shoulders on the left side of his shoulder having spots on it like moles.
    [muslim:2346]
    'Abdullah ibn Sarjis [al-MuzanI] said:
"I came to Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace), while he was among a group of his Companions, so I circled like this behind him. He understood what I wanted, so he threw the cloak off his back. I thus saw the place of the Seal on his shoulders, like a clenched fist surrounded by moles, as if they were warts. I came around to face him, and I said: 'May Allah forgive you, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: ‘And you,' so the people exclaimed: 'Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) has asked forgiveness for you!' He said: 'Yes, and also for you!' Then he recited this Quranic verse: 'And ask forgiveness for your sin, and for the believing men and the believing women [was'tagh'fir li-dhanbika wa li’l mu'minina wal-mu’minat].”(Q.47:19).”’
    [shamail:23]
    Narrated Jabir bin Samurah:
"The seal of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)" - meaning the one which was between his two shoulder blades - "was fleshy and red, resembling the egg of a pigeon."
    [urn/635150]
Now, it appears that a physician offered to remove it.
    Abu Rimtha said:
I came to God’s Messenger with my father, and on his asking who this was along with him, he replied, “He is my son; be witness to the fact.” He said, “He will not bring evil on you, nor will you bring evil on him.”* Abu Dawud and Nasa’i transmitted it. * This is explained as meaning that neither will be punished for the wrong done by the other. In Sharh as-sunna there is an addition at the beginning. He said: I went in with my father to see God’s Messenger, and when my father saw what was on God's Messenger’s back he said, “Let me treat what is on your back, for I am a physician.” He replied, “You are the helper, but God is the Physician.”* *i.e. you act in a gentle manner giving help and advice, but only God can cure.
    [mishkat:3471]
Did the founder of Islam initially see his protuberance as something that he might have been 'cured' of and later decided that it was 'the seal of prophethood'?

    My post, Hanif
    From Answering Islam:
    HANIF
A Syriac word (hanpe/hanfe) meaning renegade. The word "Hanif" occurs 12 times in the Qur'an, where Abraham is looked upon as a model of "Hannifaya". According to Âl 'Imran 3:67, he is neither Jew nor Christian. Arab poets of pre-Islamic days used the term "Hanif" for a pagan or idolator. Even Muslim scholars recognized that the word is foreign. Masaudi in "Tanbih" says it is Syriac. The Syriac Christians used it as an equivalent of the pagan, or for non-Trinitarian heretics, eg. Arians. During the early days of Islam, the followers of the prophet prefered not to call themselves "Hunafa", and chose to use Muslim instead.
Four Hanifs were mentioned by ibn Ishaq, a famous biographer of Muhammad: Waraqa b. Naufal, Ubaidullah b. Jash, Uthamn b. al-Huwayrith and Zaid b. Amr.
One day when the Quraysh had assembled on a feast day to venerate and circumambulate the idol to which they offered sacrifices, this being a feast which they held annually, four men drew apart secretly and agreed to keep their counsel in the bonds of friendship. They were Waraqa b.Naufal, Ubaydullah b.Jahsh, whose mother was Umayma d.'Abdu'l Muttalib, Uthman b.al-Huwayrith and Zayd b.'Amr. They were of the opinion that their people had corrupted the religion of their father Abraham, and that the stone they went round was of no account, it could neither hear nor see, nor hurt nor help. ``Find yourselves a religion,'' they said, ``for by God you have none.'' So they went their ways seeking the ``Hanaffiya'' -- the religion of Abraham." (Ibn Ishaq, Life of Muhammad, tr. Guillaume, p. 99)
It is interesting that these four monotheists did not believe in the pagan ritual of circumabulating the Ka'aba. The ritual was later adopted by the Muslims.
Richard Bell makes an interesting suggestion regarding the puzzling question of the identity of the hanifs in his article Who were the Hanifs? Comparative Index to Islam : HANIF
S 2:135 And they said: Be Jews or Nasara, to be guided. Say: No, the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.
S 3:67 Ibrahim was not a Jew nor a Nasrani but a Hanif, a Muslim, and was not of the mushrikun.
S 3:95 Say: Allah has told the truth so follow the cult of Ibrahim a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.
S 4:125 And who is better in religion than he who has surrendered his face to Lah and he is a good-doer and has followed the cult of Ibrahim a Hanif? And Allah took Ibrahim as a friend.
S 6:79 I have turned my face to the one who ripped apart the skies and the Earth, a Hanif, and I am not of the mushrikun.
S 6:161 Say: I, my lord has guided me to a straight path, a worthy religion, the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.
S 10:105 And: Direct your face to the religion as a Hanif and do not be of the mushrikun.
S 16:120 Ibrahim was a nation, obedient to Lah, a Hanif, and was not of the mushrikun.
S 16:123 Then we inspired you: Follow the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.
S 30:30 So set your face to the Hanif religion. Allah’s fitrah which he has split people on. There is no change to Allah’s creation. That is the worthy religion but most people do not know.
See my post: Does 'Allah' Call Jews Mushrikun?
Now in all of these passages the word is spelt with a final alif 'A'. As it stands it would suggest the word in the accusative case. The true form of the word is Hanif, not 'Hanifa'. Did the author find this form in a book translated from Syriac?
    The plural is found in:
S 22:31 Hunafa to Lah, not associating with him. And he who associates with Allah, it is as though he has fallen from the sky and the bird has seized him or the wind blows him to a distant place.
S 98:5 And they were not commanded but to worship Allah, sincere towards him in the religion, Hunafa, and to perform salat and to give the zakat. And that is the religion of the valuable thing.

I was reminded of something by 'muslim' in chat. From, Another Stray Say: Are Muslims the Slaves of Muhammad?
On the grammatical or syntactical level, this article will make observations on some Qur’an verses that are similar to those I have made in another article published quite some time ago,1 but the theological implications are far more severe at this time.
Let us consider this text from the Qur’an:
… “O 'Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped.” S. 39:53-54 Al-Hilali & Khan
The Muslim scripture is brimming with threats of punishment for sins and transgressions against the laws of Allah, both punishment in this life and even more the horrible punishment in the fire of Hell. Somebody who is very conscious of his sins and shortcomings could easily despair that he is not able to fulfil the requirements of Allah and has no chance to go to Paradise.
The above passage has the purpose to inspire hope in Muslims that Allah is gracious and merciful, and, whatever their sins may have been, Allah is willing to forgive them (v. 53) when he sees genuine repentance and submission in the heart and life of a Muslim believer (v. 54). It is a message of consolation or comfort spoken by Allah and addressed to the believers, whom he calls “my slaves”.
Apart from the “minor” quibble that one statement in v. 53 stands in contradiction to some other passages in the Qur’an (cf. the article Does Allah Forgive All Sins or Doesn’t He?), there would not be much of a problem in this text as it is quoted above.
However, the three dots at the beginning indicate that the above given citation was not complete. Let’s now take a look at what this verse really says:
Say: “O 'Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)!
For whatever reason, the author(s) or editor(s) of the Qur’an decided to change the verse from a direct speech of Allah to a command to Muhammad to speak these words by putting the word “Qul” before it, i.e., “Say (O Muhammad, the following words)”.
Muhammad said and/or was supposed to say: “O My Slaves …” Here is the problem: Are Muslim believers the slaves of Muhammad? ‘Ibâd Muhammad? Many Muslims bear the name Abd-Allah (Slave of Allah). Certainly, it would be shirk to call anyone “Abd-Muhammad”?
Adding “Qul” before the statement in quotation marks means that the speaker now changes from Allah to Muhammad. Therefore, the statement necessarily needs to be adapted to read, for example:
Say: “O slaves of Allah (‘ibâd Allah) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
But whoever made the decision to add “Qul” at the beginning of this verse forgot that with the change of the speaker the first person possessive pronoun needed to be changed to the name of Allah since otherwise the verse would turn into a blasphemous statement.
However, this was overlooked in the composition or editing process and now the Qur’an claims that Muhammad was commanded to address Muslims as “my slaves” instead of “Slaves of Allah”.
Just how strongly this formulation contradicts the central teaching of Islam, Tawhid, and what the Qur’an and hadith say in regard to the use of the words “slave” and “lord” is explained in Sam Shamoun’s companion article “How many Lords do Muslims really have?”
What are the implications of this observation? Basically, I see these alternatives:
    A) The text as it stands is original, but the formulation was accidentally erroneous, i.e. we are looking at a human error. This constitutes evidence that the Qur’an comes from a human author since the omniscient and perfect God would not commit such an error. Thus, Muhammad designed the passage but he overlooked that he constructed this verse incorrectly.
    B) The text, as it stands, is no longer original. The described problem arose through oversight by a sloppy editor. In other words, the text of the Qur’an has been changed; the Qur’an is corrupted.
    C) The wording is intentional. The Qur’an really teaches the blasphemy that Muslims are the slaves of Muhammad. Many Muslim will be outraged at such a charge, but there is actually a considerable amount of evidence that the Qur’an elevates Muhammad to the level of deity in various ways (cf. the section on the Deification of Muhammad).
Is there any other alternative? As I see it, there is the dilemma that this verse is either accidentally erroneous (i.e. originating from a human author) or corrupted (through later tampering) or intentional and blasphemous (because it elevates Muhammad to a status that belongs only to God).2
But the trouble isn’t over yet. Shockingly, this very same error occurs not only once but at least twice!
In an earlier verse in the same chapter we find a similar formulation:
Say (O Muhammad SAW): “O My slaves who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), be afraid of your Lord (Allah) and keep your duty to Him. Good is (the reward) for those who do good in this world, and Allah's earth is spacious (so if you cannot worship Allah at a place, then go to another)! Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning.” S. 39:10 Al-Hilali & Khan
Could it be that the translators Al-Hilali and Khan actually recognized the problem (and danger of potential misunderstanding) and therefore added the parenthesis “(Allah)” after “your Lord” in order to prevent the natural reading that “your Lord” refers back to the one who says “my slaves”, i.e. Muhammad?
Even if the translators had a different motivation, and even if the reader doesn’t want to accept that the natural reading of the text - without all the parenthetical remarks added by the translators - makes Muhammad “your Lord”, it still stands that Muhammad is commanded to address Muslims as “my slaves”. Adding the “Say:” in front of this verse is again very problematic, and everything that was outlined above in regard to S. 39:53 applies here as well.

    Mentally stable? Narrated `Aisha:
The Prophet (ﷺ) continued for such-and-such period imagining that he has slept (had sexual relations) with his wives, and in fact he did not. One day he said, to me, "O `Aisha! Allah has instructed me regarding a matter about which I had asked Him. There came to me two men, one of them sat near my feet and the other near my head. The one near my feet, asked the one near my head (pointing at me), 'What is wrong with this man? The latter replied, 'He is under the effect of magic.' The first one asked, 'Who had worked magic on him?' The other replied, 'Lubaid bin Asam.' The first one asked, 'What material (did he use)?' The other replied, 'The skin of the pollen of a male date tree with a comb and the hair stuck to it, kept under a stone in the well of Dharwan."' Then the Prophet (ﷺ) went to that well and said, "This is the same well which was shown to me in the dream. The tops of its date-palm trees look like the heads of the devils, and its water looks like the Henna infusion." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered that those things be taken out. I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Won't you disclose (the magic object)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah has cured me and I hate to circulate the evil among the people." `Aisha added, "(The magician) Lubaid bin Asam was a man from Bani Zuraiq, an ally of the Jews." In the Quran Allah is called a mawla; but what does this word mean? Let's look at some passages.
S 8:40 And if they turn away, know that Allah is your mawla. Excellent was the mawla and excellent the helper.
S 22:13 He calls to one--his harm is closer than his benefit. Miserable was the mawla and miserable the intimate.
S 22:78 And wage jihad for Allah with his due jihad. He has selected you and has not put upon you in the religion any difficulty. The cult of your father Ibrahim. He named you Muslims before and in this, that the messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over people. So establish salat and give zakat and hang on to Allah. He is your mawla. So excellent was the mawla and excellent the helper.
S 44:41 A day mawla does not avail mawla at all and they are not helped.
S 47:11 That is because Allah is a mawla of those who have believed and that the kafirun have no mawla.
The word has a number of meanings.
    Noun
    مَوْلًى • (mawlan) m (dual مَوْلَيَانِ‎ (mawlayāni), plural مَوَالٍ‎ (mawālin), feminine مَوْلَاة‎ (mawlāh))
    chief; lord; master
    patron; client
    slave
ally; friend; follower مولى - Wiktionary
Mawlas: Freed slaves and converts in early Islam: Slavery & Abolition: Vol 1, No 2
Anas reported the Prophet as saying, “The freedman* of a people is one of them.” * Maula. This word may mean either the one who emancipates or the one who has been emancipated, and therefore the tradition has received two different interpretations according to the meaning of maula. Bukhari transmitted it.
    [mishkat:3044]
This hadith has been narrated by Abu Nadr on the authority of Umair, the freed slave {mawla} of Umm al-Fadl, through the same chain of transmitters.
    [muslim:1123c]
How could God use such a word of himself?
There is a chance that Arab Christians used this word. Human beings might use this word but how can we expect God to use this of himself?
