    Very happy to see you land that partnership. I'd be hard-pressed to find many others who can provide succinct, no-nonsense training advice while also demonstrating such high level physical qualities. I really appreciate your content.

    Congrats on the scholarship man 👏, can you make a video on what are the actual good alternative exercise that can comparatively provide as much benefit as Olympic lift

    Congrats on the sponsor, you definitely deserve to go big
    By the way, do you have advice for improving sprinting technique? I think that would make a great video topic

    I would love if you did a video for people training with little or no equipment. Gym is not currently an option for me so I am stuck at home with 20 pound dumbbells, bands, weighted vest, jump box, etc. Looking to improve overall athleticism (stronger, jump higher and farther, sprint faster)

    I’ve been doing exclusively “no foot” powercleans to combat my feet going all over the place. I think I also get a better connection with the lift when I do that. I kind of stopped doing full cleans after the pandemic because I feel that if I can powerclean a weight, I can most certainly clean it. But I think you’re right though, I probably should doing at least a few reps of full cleans to keep that movement ingrained.

      @joeberger3441 2 дні тому

      Don't you mean the other way around? I,e., if you can full clean a weight, you can most certainly power clean it?

    • @strawberryyogurt0
      @strawberryyogurt0 2 дні тому +1

      @@joeberger3441 … Not really I don’t think. Most people usually can powerclean less than they can full clean. In order to successfully powerclean a weight, the bar needs to be "pulled" as high as possible so they catch the weight higher than a parallel squat. With a "full" clean, you can short change the triple extension (not fully extend your hips) and drop to receive the weight below parallel in the ATG squat position.
      When my max was 205-lbs on the powerclean, I was able to do a 225-lbs full clean, but no way the world would I have been able to powerclean that while staying above parallel in the squat position.
      I took 6 months off, so I’m trying to work my way back up to a 225-lb powerclean.

      @@strawberryyogurt0 ah yes, you're right. I got the 2 confused. I think I was thrown off because the fact that a max full clean is more than a max power clean is pretty much a given (aside from those with mobility issues) so I think I over thought your original comment when you said "if I can power clean a weight, I can most certainly clean it". Which you obviously can.
      I pretty much just TRY to power everything, and let the end result be what it is based on how far I pull under it. So I try to pull like a power but may end up a full clean by necessity once it's past 225. So far I'm stuck at 250 (on a good day)

      @@joeberger3441 LIfts on a good day is always a good thing. I’m guessing your goal for the year 2025 is to at least hit a 315-lbs power clean? What’s your numbers on the big 4 (OHP, bench, squat, deadlift).
      My paused OHP: 135-lbs x 4
      My touch and go Bench: Hoping to hit 225-lbs x 1 next Tuesday
      My paused bench for next week: 205-lbs x 5 reps for 3 sets next Tuesday
      My squat “touch and go” ATG: 275-lbs on a good day 3 or 4 reps
      My paused squat is probably: 245-lbs x maybe 3 reps or 4 reps on a good day.
      My deadlift “deadstop full reset conventional”: 405-lbs x 8 (just did this on Monday)
      My goal is to hit at least a 275-lbs powerclean in the next two year. Not sure how realistic that would be because my progression scheme is incredibly slow - on purpose. Yep, if you powerclean it up and somehow your legs simply can’t stay above parallel, you sink into an ATG position and mentally pivot and say, “yep, wasn’t going for a powerclean anyways, just doing a full clean”
      What’s your powerclean sessions like? And how many days per week? I’ve been doing the same weight over the course of an 8 week block, adding 1 additional rep each every 2 week. Increasing weight by 5-lbs on week 9. At this rate, I’m definitely not getting anywhere near 275-lbs this year though. Currently, I’m doing 5 sets of 3 rep of 185-lbs (I actually start off with 1 single hang clean, then 3 reps of powerclean). And then I do a final set of double paused powerclean with 165-lbs for 5 reps.

    Jumping forward is considered an error by most weightlifting coaches but after watching Nassar become one of the greatest weightlifters ever I am not so sure. I have also seen some high level weightlifting countries' lifters from I want to say Bulgaria and Turkey have fairly noticeable forward jump and do incredibly well at international competitions. The bar is basically too far out so you end up hopping forward to catch it but it can be a variety of factors that can cause it such as insufficient back tension, too much horizontal movement with hips, etc. It's difficult to fix once you have it. Too much rearward displacement is not great either.

    My full clean had a small jump forward. My power clean started out around the same weight, so I realized the skill needed to develop. I also want to talk about the importance of developing the muscle variations. The full clean is going to be tough to recover from with a truly deep squat. I think what's key is to limit your power variations in terms of weight, and really focus on form there. Anything you do wrong in the power clean can also be fixed in the variation itself with pauses and form checks. For me, I believe it was mainly having the shoulders in the wrong place. Shoulders over the knees also make the movement look more snappy. I'm muscle cleaning almost what I could power clean at first with a really explosive pull off the floor. I believe energy was lost at some point because of acceleration losses. It's not that the first pull should be slow either, it should be fast, but the second and third pulls need to continue acceleration and get even faster. Once you develop this pattern, we stop wasting energy and all of sudden that bar starts moving with more and more speed, and less effort, that is the goal.

    Nice video brother, I see you’re doing cleans outside and dropping the weight. I have bumper plates and a decent barbell, should I be fine as you are in these clips dropping the barbell and not damage the weights or barbell? Of course the ground I lift on can take it

    Do you have any advice on training a baseball or golf swing for power?

    Is jumping backwards when you clean ( maybe 10-12 inches) any cause of concern?

    • @young-mukcho6433
      @young-mukcho6433 18 годин тому +1

      Yes it can be. That is a lot of rearward displacement. It means your bar will have a big loop and when the weight gets heavier you are more likely to miss the catch. However, Galabin Boevski made it work quite well for him as in Olympic and World champion. Look him up.
