because it would blow away all the so called establishment country so called artists or bands , that’s why. It would spoil the pseudo fake country industry
The first time I heard this group on the radio in 1987 with this song I said Wow! These guys are great. I have all of their albums and Cds. Thank you UA-cam for having their songs and videos on here.😀🎸🎶
John Jorgensen on guitar and harmony. He's been musical director on award shows and was gracious enough to appear at the Rose Maddox Tribute/Benefit concert in Modesto,Ca. when the music legend was having health problems. Thank you John,we remember.
Thank u fr appreciating country music my brotherman. This is first i hear this song since early 90s. This morning i was just signing it & so I decided to Google search it. Brings back old memories
@@annrcantu9273 I've seen Jorgenson and Pedersen as part of John's bluegrass band. That was pretty fantastic. My band was opening for them that night. I generally don't like this kind of country, but Jorgenson and Pedersen have got the legit chops and background to give it some depth.
Not exactly true to say they never broke through. They had 7 Top 10 singles, including two #1 and two #2. Three of the albums were in the Top 30. The string ran out after six years. Jorgenson left the band in 1991 to form the Hellecasters. Chris and Herb still perform together on a fairly regular basis.
+David H. hey dude, yeah absolutely right. When your resume includes playing with Buck & Buckaroos, we nee say no more. Enuf said. Any idea where he is these days? mos60
My only complaint is that country music audiences, before the '90's or so, were too reserved. A great performance like this by the DRB should have had the audience on their feet, cheering, whistling and showing them what a great time they're having. This audience acts like they've just been given a presentation on affordable homeowner's insurance.
Chris played in a bluegrass band, The Scottsville Squirrel Barkers, from age 15 to 17. (He played mandolin. He didn't play bass until he was in The Byrds.) While he was doing that, Gram was junior high school age and playing 50s r&r. Then he discovered folk music when he was 16, and played with the Shilohs. (They sounded like the Kingston Trio.) He didn't get into country music until he went to college, dropped out, and started The International Submarine Band. After that band fell apart he joined The Byrds, which Chris was already in. After that, Chris and Gram started the Burritos, which they both wrote songs for, mostly together. Then Gram left to start his solo career. Chris has never copied anyone's style. Maybe you aren't familiar with the history of these guys.
Can never figure out why this band was never recognized as a very popular band back in the days their music was great...
because it would blow away all the so called establishment country so called artists or bands , that’s why. It would spoil the pseudo fake country industry
They never recognize the good ones! Especially when the fans like em!! Imo.
Not a wide enough appeal.
Great band listened to these guys growing up in the 80’s todays music just don’t compare.

I love the way The Desert Rose Band covers this tune. Hillman has a great voice.
The New Riders of the Purple Sage also do a great version.
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 I totally agree with you on this point amigo✌🤗. Stay healthy!
Keep tempo rolling boys ..Sounds great ..Never again will America know country like we grew up on ....

Outstanding live performance.

Great vocals by a couple of Southern California boys. They used to grow them right.

John !! por dioss, que guitarra...!!
Under rated band for sure. Too bad they never broke through. I love their songs, great sound, catchy, commercial, just never caught on.
They were amazing live. Saw them twice in the mid to late 80s.

They broke throuigh to me. And I'm very picky!
This is so great!!
Jay Dee Maness one of the best pedal steel guys around. wow amazing player. Makes it look easy. mosrite60
+mosrite60 that's the understatement of the century! he is amazing, no doubt.
+David H. hey dude, yeah absolutely right. When your resume includes playing with Buck & Buckaroos, we nee say no more. Enuf said. Any idea where he is these days? mos60
Great d band right along with the Pure Prairie League band
Them&Hiway 101 my faves
JD plays on a Emmons psg.
Hillman is a bona fide rockstar
Who remembers the lead player, It's been so many years my memory fails me
John Jorgensen
I'd say behind James Taylor and Art Garfunkel Hillman has the sweetest male voice I've heard. I love JayDee. I bought a steel because of him.
Gram Parsons actually had the sweetest voice and I imagine that Chris is copying his style, unashamedly.
Great song
Watching in 2022 after 9 years but items still a great song for me
As good as it gets
Notice the cups of water...long before bottles came along!!
They were so Great Live!!!!!! They broke up much too soon!
The Effin best
This song is from a few years ago! But it's just as great great today as it was back then! I love it!
Dandy version of this song. Judging by the sweat, must be darn hot up there on stage.
I see Chris dug out one of his Burrito Bros suits.

Haha! Great comment!
+70Kenny Austin City Limits tells people to keep their seats so as not to interfere with the taping.
+David H. That makes sense to a point, but if they're so concerned with no interference, why have an audience at all?
They also had to 'behave ' for the TV taping.
bahahaha
Sounds like gram
Jay Dee Maneese is the best pedal-steel player.
Holy shit chris hillman copied this style from gram parsons 100% thats fucked
What would Cher say ? As If , Chris and Parsons formed The Flying Burrito Brothers remember ?
