I am glad to see that you left a note for the teacher. I can not tell you how many times I've returned to no note from the sub. Then, I needed to figure out once students were there what was done. It makes it difficult. So again, thank you!
That's so surprising that you rarely got sub notes! I always write what got done and was unfinished, along with major issues that occurred. It's 10-15 minutes of my day that'll make the teacher's week smoother.
I love watching your videos. I’m planning to transfer to WGU for Elem Ed this August to finish up my schooling, and your vlogs have been so helpful. As a sub currently, I particularly enjoy this latest series! I find it interesting you need to make a seating chart…the teachers at the schools I sub at usually already have seating charts from day one!
Omg best of luck with working towards your credential 🥰 You'll do amazing!! I needed to create my own seating chart half of the time when I subbed. At least now I know what to include in my own sub plans when I have my own classroom!
Julie, You have made a way to be firm while being resourceful and helpful and openminded and keeping it good with the students. Not every teacher or even someone who substitute teaches has the balance that you have. The students like you and I do not blame them one iota. - Dwight
I'm still learning how to balance it all when behaviors get out of hand, but I do feel confident that I'm making a positive difference at the end of the day. Your endless support definitely makes this journey better, so thank you Dwight!!
Great ideas! I'm going to be subbing this year after retiring from teaching. All of your ideas for subs are so good...especially doing the seating chart. Keep the great ideas and videos coming :)
You would be my favorite sub too because you actually teach and build rapport with the students. I gotta admit not a lot of subs do that because they rather do the minimum amount of work. Myself included when I was subbing haha. Also what month did these subbing take place? Like right after your student teaching?
I've always been curious how other subs were when working in elementary. Most subs I pass by seem like they care just as much as I do! Also, these videos were taken in April.. I'm just slow with editing 😅
@@ms.trinh.teaches I can see that elementary might be a lot more different since you need to guide the kids a lot more and the content isn’t as in depth. I know for high school the kids just do it themselves because most sub doesn’t have the cert for the content. Subbing elementary might be a lot more interactive I’d say.
