There were a lot of new and nifty features introduced in this update for the first time and now we can’t even imagine using our phones without them.

Fun fact: As of February 2024 Lollipop is the oldest version of Android still supported by Google Play Services.
I had an LG phone that had lollipop. Much to my surprise one day not too long ago I got a security update on it. Totally unexpected it was.
yeah but sadly many Apps dropped support. Especially Chrome and all Chromium Variants.

I like how there was Windows XP beside you because The android equivalent to that was 4.4 Kitkat and THAT was the peak of it, the lightest android had ever been. Unfortunately, we traded that for "material design".

me personally i am a fan of material3 and monet
but ye it's just personal preference
@@niveZz- We have love the material design which is why we have a new norm of 4-8GB RAMs. But the efficient design of KitKat was an engineering breakthrough. It was the lightest Android. Lollipop onwards, the world shifted towards "aesthetic" and hence better hardware was needed.
for me the holo design was the best: snappy, tons of customisation, and due to low ram and storage most apps were highly optimised.

Lollipop update made android ui design miles ahead of ios design. Recent android 12 material redesign is downright amazing, much better than plain ios ui. Material yous small details like consistency of design of the menus icons, volume change sliders and so on is amazing. Biggest drawbacks is most apps on play store (even the big ones) use their own ui design and this is a big blow to the consistency of the ui throughout apps. Sometimes it feels like material you is just limited to only google apps.

I remember using my Moto G2 that phone Legit still feels one of my seemless smartphone of all time if only I could update the hardware of the chipset and ram and keep the rest I would do it immediately
I consider A12 the best upgrade and 14 extended it well.
I still remember that i used custom ROMs which had lots of bugs just to enjoy Android L on my Galaxy Grand 2 in 2014/15...

My first phone was on almost stock Lollipop 5.1 (1+X). and only got 1 update to MM. But the custom roms lasted till pie
aw man, 5.0 was amazing, i had a Moto E at the time and a moto G after it, i really miss the chrome tabs on recent apps

i used a lollipop version for 4 years , one of the most stable version
I had micromax canvas 6. 7 years ago and i still remember it had Android lolipop it was my first ever smartphone 😂
I also started using my first phone with android 5 with samsung touchwiz 😅 in J1
I think 4.0 was also a big step since it brought hardware acceleration if I am not wrong.

Personally, I feel Android Holo design was the peak.. with different os skins, tons of custom roms, lockscreen customisation, it was so cool!

I had an HTC desire with android 2.3 gingerbread based sense ui.
It had a lot of these features ahead of time! I miss the UI and the beautiful animations a lot of times. Comparatively the current gen android UIs look bland and boring.
