Watch a live video of Scorpions & you'll see Klaus has his mic gaffer taped to its lead for about a foot & a half so he can swing it, especially during the song Dynamite. As this is a promo video Klaus is using a cordless mic as the band are miming & in the part you refer to where he's holding the mic in a strange fashion it's because he had thrown it in the air & caught it upside down just as he's about to sing & didn't have time to adjust it in his hand.

Mathias Jabs is very underrated! I love Uli Roth and Michael Schenker but Mathias has some of the best lead guitar in the business!

The effect on his voice at the start is a phaser. 👍 Then the drums have reversed reverb. (I might have mixed some stuff before).
That effect sounds like a guitar flanger. Herman wrote the lyrics for most of their music. He was the most fluent in English in the band.
