Would it be possible to plug in 2 joysticks modded like this and be able to get the mice guts to function as 2 separate controllers?

fix the mouse board to the joystick, only the disk rotates...
The stuff you have to do to play your games, if someone started selling snk style controllers they would make a killing.
Happ sells a rotary joystick, but with that a elephnat could play - too big, too hard to turn and a seperate pcb is needed to get a USB con.

That does not work 100%.You need to attach the mouse pcb AT the joystick, or microswitch. If not the cable will turn around and around with the stick.
