Just a quick suggestion for anyone doing this. I would recommend using a small brush and a bit of primer to touch up those drilled holes otherwise with moisture and condensation you could develop rust and rot over time. Or at the very least some urethane window sealer on the exposed metal. Not a problem for the short term but people pass these tacos down and could be helpful for future resale owners.
My composit bed has held up better then any steel bed I've ever owned and I overload my tacoma two or three times a year with stone, coal and firewood. Sometimes's with more then a ton. One summer I hauled over 100 tons of stone. These are definitely unnecessary except perhaps where you install a camper shell or something similar.
I should probably do these for when the rack and tent is on my bed! I like the extra mounts they provide, am a little concerned the bottom lip will impede sliding cargo in and out. Keep ‘em coming Chloe!!
You make all of the installs seem so easy. Last night I installed the decked drawer system on my 2022 Tacoma Off Road by myself. It wasn’t easy and it took me at least 6 hours. OMG my back is killing me. But the install came out great. Thanks Chole for the inspiration.
I’ve been watching your channel for quite a while and it’s nice to see some of the recommendations I made you’ve actually put on your truck feels good feels like I’m helping you even though I’m not actually there LOL. I did go with a different make and brand then you did I went with total chaos it’s not quite as boxy as yours and follows the lines of the bed and runs higher up the side walls of the box so little different than the one you selected.
I have an access cab (probably more likely to crack since it's a long bed) and I also have a double cab short bed. I off road all the time on both with a bunch of gear and I've never had any issues. I live in Hawaii and everyone has a tacoma and I've never heard of them cracking.
@@alexgarcia3900 same here got an access cab n im on the big island and the tacoma is the state bird lol flocks of them everywhere no one had a cracked bed from who i talked to. i however plan on getting loads of sand and rock from the quarry so maybe i might run into the issue
So I have a set of these from my friends kids who run a fabrication / cnc shop from home. They are also powder coated and pretty much exactly the same. What I wanted to point out is on my 08 taco the top bolt is at the exact location of a piece of stiffening metal behind the tail lights. It was an absolute nightmare getting the nut on. One thing also to consider is putting a washer on each side of the bolt, I did this on mine and while probably not needed it should add some additional strength. Great Vid and I really like the deck system.
I noticed a lot of bed side flex just using ratchet straps when hauling. I don’t plan on having a bed rack or a tent but will be installing bed stiffeners.
Great video as usual!! I have these and will be installing soon. I have zero need for it but kinda live by the motto “over kill is my motto” so why not. Thanks
When drilling new holes to line up with existing holes, use a transfer punch. They come in sets. It punches a centered drill point so there's no guessing. Also, it's almost 2022 and the whole world is metric. Why U.S.-based accessory manufacturers still include inch hardware with their products is puzzling. It's that difficult to include M10 fasteners with this kit?
Well Miss Toyota, I will be starting the rebuild process on my Tacoma this week. I have all the parts I need other than a few small things I’ll have to get at dealer. I’ve got a 18 Denali duramax I gotta paint , soon as I finish it the yota is next in line. Bed stiffeners are good idea with composite bed. If I was gonna serious off roading I’d prolly go for it to. But I won’t be doing any real hard off roading. Maybe fishing and snowy roads is about all mine will see. Good job as always.
Nice Chloe! I’ll be doing this as soon as I get my Tacoma… if it ever comes! When we added a spare tire carrier to my friends Colorado ZR2, that required bed stiffeners as well.
Another pleasant video from Chloe! I wish you owned a 5th Gen 4Runner. BTW... You would think Cali Raised would provide metric hardware instead of SAE in these kits. Just curious.
@@ChloeKuo yes, I know when I climb in it really is hard on the knees, or if you set something on the tailgate invariably it topples over! Looks like an easy install.
Hi, Chloe i want to replace my headlights bulbs to LED for my low beams and high beams also fog LED bulbs. What do you recommend I should buy. LET ME KNOW THANKS.
Great to hear from you Brian! No, but I did have a squeaking issue on the passenger front end a few weeks ago because of a bushing that was very annoying
Do you know how strong the tie hooks are at the front bottom corners of the box? I’m sometimes a bit worried carrying my dirt bike on the truck and strapping it down. There is unite a bit of flex on a he hooks compared to my old truck. Not sure if there’s a reinforcement kit or just use large washers and longer bolts
Nice. Been thinking of this. Carpenter by trade and will be getting the decked system soon. Can the stiffeners be installed before the decked system? (I haven’t investigated how modular the deck system comes, so I am unsure on the order of installation for myself).
Now I'm wondering if the composite bed is one of the reasons for the lower payload rating of the Tacoma vs. Hilux. Tacoma is rated at 1540 lbs vs 2200 lbs.
Ah ok! I'm guessing then that America's mid-size trucks ride better unloaded than world market ones? The new world market trucks are getting better at being comfortable (my 2021 rides very well), but they used to be super stiff unloaded!
@@cunawarit yeah I own one and it's designed more for off roading and articulation. Stiffer springs are better for heavy loads but limit articulation and make the ride less enjoyable. Americans are very demanding lol and also don't usually use midsize trucks for actual truck use. We use bigger trucks for that purpose.
Good Video. I did see you still have your bed side mounting racks. The racks where you can tie things to the side of your bed. Do you believe those also give you added structural support? I do not remember how those were mounted.
Thanks! If you’re referring to the molle panels, they do not provide any additional support. They are made of star board and are very light and flexible
Hey how about disclosing whether you purchased or were sent by the manufacturer the items you post. It will add more validity to your channel. You jump around so much when it comes to quality levels on the items you install. Some followers might not know better and take your word. The only decent thing to do 👍🏼
Thank you for the feedback! I should have done a better job clarifying that in this video. I was not paid in exchange for making this content and always disclose that information for other videos that I am. I specifically installed these bed stiffeners on my truck over other brands I researched for the reasons I explained in the video-although I was able to work with Cali Raised LED on the backend to make my own discount code for viewers
I trust Chloe to give honest opinions no matter if she paid for the product or not. So far she has been fair and honest and I see no reason for that to change.
It would be nicer if Toyota actually made a strong, non flexy bed to begin with. A steel bed with a spray in liner is way better than the Tacoma plastic bed.
My son-in-law followed me wheeling on some old fire roads. At our first stop, he and my daughter both commented on how much twist my truck had on uneven surfaces. I had nothing in the bed. It was not encouraging. But, I'm tired of buying things to make my Tacoma a truck.

Great point! I totally agree. I use POR-15 rust preventive and top coat combination.
Or apply antisieze to threads and flange head of bolts, it will prevent rust forming as well.
No need

Thank you Chloe, you are making my decision to buy a Tacoma easier.
If you are worried about the bed cracking from offroading I feel like those will actually make it more prone to cracking...

I agree!
hmm bed stiffeners? when will the spending ever end? Taco Life$ 🤨 another cool video!
Thank God I kept my first gen!
Also you can get this same exact ones on Amazon for a lot cheaper. I have these exact ones and I didn’t go through Cali Raised.

bed stiffeners was my first mod. went with total chaos. no paint for those holes you drilled?
I should go back and paint them
@Chloe - if you look close, how come the product looks different from your video and the one from CaliRaisedLED?
You forgot to include to torque the T55 star hex bolts. I believe it’s 50-60 ft-lbs and the T40 is 30ft-lb.
Hi, Chloe i want to replace my headlights bulbs to LED for my low beams and high beams also fog LED bulbs. What do you recommend I should buy. LET ME KNOW THANKS.
Hi Chloe please bring back Land Cruiser with TRD Pro (Tacoma rims) and BFG K2O's!
KO2s (or KM3s) for sure! But I think I’m going with some Method wheels for that vehicle
Chloe did ur bed make noise (like a squeak) prior to this when it was flexed? If so, did the noise go away now?

I think that’s possible, but it would be easier to do the DECKED first. I have an install video on the DECKED if you want to see what it involves!
@@ChloeKuo thanks- will do
How about for a 22 power wagon?
Let me know when they release this part to fit a 2022 Tacoma ;)
Now I'm wondering if the composite bed is one of the reasons for the lower payload rating of the Tacoma vs. Hilux. Tacoma is rated at 1540 lbs vs 2200 lbs.
I think it's mainly the suspension. American market is different. The tacoma leaf springs are actually super weak.
